Quite new cafe that has entertainment some evenings and also Salsa Sundays. Growing in popularity with a great little light meal/tapa type menu that is light on the pocket. The food is inspired by the Carribean which I found very good rather than excellent, but for the price truly fantastic. What I do love about Havana is that it is "Cairns" and a place that will attract the locals. Service, atmosphere first rate. Owner (or manager?)so passionate and excited about his venture it is infectious. The experience is greatly improved when they have some great music. Otherwise a good budget light meal dining option.
Cairns lost a lot of local culture and vibe when the money moved in, now the money with it's boring generic masterplan is moving out again seems some of Cairns soul is returning. I hope Havana all the success in the world and hope it reaches it's obvious potential. My only real gripe is that the view of the car parking station across the road is awful so some hanging plants, awning or something to screen that mess would be nice. Plus a few more fans :).
