“Essential if your're after a fantastic diving experience”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

For anyone considering whether or not they should sacrifice an evening on 'reef teach' before going onboard their dive trip, I'll have to say absolutely YES - especially if you are doing your first open water/liveaboard course like I did.

For 2 hours of your time, you will come out knowing about a good portion of the commonly encountered creatures on the reef, many of which you will not know existed beforehand, and which part of the coral they live in. So much material is covered that you will pretty much learn alot, no matter however many times you may have watched finding nemo.

Once i was actually diving underwater I was able to recognize creatures that I saw or were being pointed out to me by my diving instructor. Bear in mind that you can't really talk underwater (only convey hand signals), so it was priceless to have known what I was seeing and information about it beforehand, so I was able to fully understand what was going on in the moment.

“Must do before your GBR-Trip!”
Reviewed 22 November 2013 via mobile

I am participating in a 5 day Padi Open Water Dive Course with ProDive Cairns abd wanted to know something about all the amazing creatures i will see out in the reef. So I went to the Reef Teach Presentation and were absolutly amazed by the enthusiasm and spirit the "Teacher" explained everything. The Presentation lasts about two houres filled with loads of information, incredible beautiful pictures, corals and stuffed fish to touch and not to forget: cookies! I would absolutly recomnend thus Presentation to everybody who is going to dive or snorkel the reef! The 18 $ are by far the best investion you can add to your gbr trip!

“Essential if you're heading to the Reef”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

I was learning to dive with ProDive Cairns who recommended heading along to one of Gareth's sessions, this was the best advice I received on the trip!
Reef Teach provides you with loads of information on what sorts of flora and fauna you can see out on the Great Barrier Reef.
On top of that Gareth's enthusiasm for the reef and its inhabitants is infectious.
The fee is minimal and you get so much out of this.
