“Can’t beat this for an experience”

Combined this with the Kuranda Scenic Railway and had an amazing day. The scenery, learning more about our own indigenous people’s culture and the flora/fauna adds up to one spectacular day! If you’re bored or feel that Far North Queensland's amazing natural scenery from a few hundred metres off the ground is not enough for you, then go home and sit back on the couch!

We did Skyrail first then the train. In retrospect, would have been better the other way around as we wouldn’t have had to ‘shuttle’ back to the Skyrail carpark (takes about 15-20 minutes to get back). No major drama though!

“Skyrail gives spectacular views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

I got the train up to Kuranda and the skyrail down. The train was fantastic, Kuranda itself was nothing to rave about but the skyrail was simply amazing!

The skyrail gave spectacular views as you are literally on top of the canopy. It gives a very unique and simply spectacular view of the rainforest.

You get to stop at stations along the way where you get out and walk on walkways through the rainforest.

It is expensive, but I am glad that I got to see the rainforest from this unique angle.

“Mind the step”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

First tip - take the train from CNS to Kuranda and Skyrail back, don't do it the other way or you are a) pushed for time or b) Stuck in Kuranda waiting for the late train to depart.

Tip 2 - Park at Skyrail and get the morning transfer to the train so when you get back to Skyrail your car is waiting for you.

Tip 3 - take a different skyrail carriage from your 13 year old son if they take great delight in rocking the thing and freakin' his mother out.

Tip 4 - Enjoy the view, it is spectacular. The skyrail is the highlight (though I do like the train) and the short stops are worth looking at.

“Did someone say overhyped?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

It's probably the most overhyped thing I have been to. Nothing can justify the cost of this bland attraction. Great if you are old or if you are a kid maybe. The skyrail is boring. You sit in the cablechairs and pass along above the forest. Great to get a scope of the sheer size of the forest, but you can't see in it, you can't hear any birds, it all looks the same from above and in the dry season it's all brown and ugly. At your two stops, you get to walk only 100-200 metres along a boardwalk before lining up for ages to get back on the skyrail. Nothing of interest at these stops.

Kuranda itself is a lovely little place with a few things to do. Nice markets, nice atmosphere and a great place to spend a couple of hours before getting onto the scenic railway.

The scenic railway is downright crap. The train is crammed, you are allocated seats and if you're sitting on the wrong side you have literally nothing but endless rock to look at. The guide gives a tour over the loud speaker about the historical importance of the railway. However, it's completely boring and has nothing important or historically interesting in it. Just a dull narration.

Honestly, save your money and go somewhere else. There are so many better things to do in North Queensland.
