“Awesome way to spend our last day travelling!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We did the Tully river full day rafting and it was so much fun. Even though it was low season there were 2 coaches full of people and about 10 boats in total. Safety was of the utmost importance so whilst a couple of boats were going down some rapids a couple of others would be waiting keeping guard. The coaches followed on the road to hand out new paddles if some got lost. Lunch was a BBQ half way down the course which was simple but really good. The benefit of being in a river is that at certain points you can jump in to cool off. Remember to take a t-shirt to go under the life-vest otherwise you will get really burnt. Overall, it was a very enjoyable, fun-packed day and definitely worth doing.

“Great Half Day Trip”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

I did the Barron River half day white water rafting trip with Raging Thunder. I went with my son the day after Ironman Cairns. The company was easily booked from the hotel, very well organized, and got us and about half a dozen other rafters to the river in about 15 minutes from Cairns in a nice van. They provide all the equipment (safety helmet, paddle, boat, life jacket), and have a photographer stationed near the best rapids to take photos you can buy as JPEGs on a memory stick for AUD 30. The photos were quite good and worth buying - just make sure you smile at the camera when your raft guide tells you!

The river itself was mostly level 1/2 rapids, with a couple level 3 on the day we went because the dam had been opened up to maximum volume, so there was good flow (this was in June). A nice little afternoon ride good for beginners. We had plenty of people on our boat without previous experience, or older. From all the 8 boats, we had 2 guys fall in the water, who floated down the rapid and were promptly pulled back into the boat. At the end, you have to paddle for about 10 minutes before you get ashore in a lake-like enlargement of the river.

The bus parks near a place where you can change and buy drinks, and they provide free tea and coffee while you look at the photos they took. Then 15 minutes back into town. The whole thing is 2-5:30 PM, nicely wedged between a light lunch and a hearty dinner.

“Don't miss out on the fun!!”
Reviewed 11 June 2014 via mobile

What a blast! I did the Xtreme rafting tour and out of 5 weeks traveling throughout Australia and going on different tours and trips, this was by far my favorite. The guides are really fun and definitely work to make sure you have a good time. This was my first time white water rafting and I can't wait to go again!

“Extreme fun”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We were by far the oldest on this trip as we watched the bus fill up with 20 and 30 year old backpackers but we still had the absolute best day. The raging thunder team are so well organised and professional and really quite funny. Our guide Maca was excellent (apart from his bad pirate and croc jokes) and it was obvious he knew the Tully river.

The photographer obliged my bestie with photos with her bucket list glasses on whilst he balanced on a wet rock at the side of the river. Amazing. Lunch was great given the basic facilities and we were underway again.

A full awesome day ended with drinks at the pub and a final drop off at our hotel.

“Absolutely fantastic for 60th birthday”
Reviewed 2 June 2014 via mobile

What a very professional company. Everything explained with safety paramount.
We had Mauricio from chile who led our team if 5 fantastically. Our team of 3 family mbers plus two Swiss backpackers had the vest time. My daughter surprised me with a text the night before saying pack bathers and towel we are leaving townsville at 5.45 am
What a fantastic 60th pressie and so much fun. I did not jump off the rock but otherwise tried most of the extreme offering. The extreme is best as smaller number of people so much more enjoyable
You do have time to just sit and coast and check out the butterflies and aquatic life. Definitely want to go again when next near mission beach .
