We traveled with a group of friends and family, about a dozen people total, young teens through seniors. The hotel was beautiful. We stayed on the conceirge level and had wonderful service. The attendant in the lounge was helpful when we needed information. The daily breakfast, included with our rooms, was perfect. Each evening we were able to enjoy the coctails, at no charge, in the executive lounge as well. The upgrade cost was minimal, and the perks were outstanding. The hotel is located within walking distance of the wharf and the esplanade, so no car was required. We were picked up for all of our prearranged tours at the front door. There are plenty of excellent restaurants within walking distance. All in all, well worth the money!

My husband and I decided a few weeks out from NYE that we wanted to go on a short break. We managed to get a super cheap deal on Expedia for flights, car hire and the Hilton and based on what we paid we were not expecting all that much. We were pleasantly surprised! We arrived at the hotel early and were given complimentary early check in and an upgrade to a water view room and we ended up with an awesome view over Trinity Inlet. The hotel from first glance looks a little old from the outside, but it has been well renovated and we had a great room, king sized bed (very comfortable), good selection for room service, walking distance to the Esplanade and restaurants. The pool was almost always empty which was nice and it was a reasonable size. It is in a slightly odd location in terms of access (needing to walk down a few flights of stairs), but this did not bother us too much. We were on the same level as the pool access door so maybe if we were on another floor needing to come down to the pool access floor, walk the stairs etc it may have been annoying. The hotel was incredibly clean and the service staff were lovely as were all the staff we encountered. My Brother and girlfriend also accompanied us to Cairns and were in a room facing the Esplanade on level six. Also an awesome room, great view of the NYE fireworks! (came in handy since at midnight it was pouring with rain) and despire being in a location facing a lot of the action the room was well sound proofed and you could hear nothing from the street with the double doors shut. I saw a couple of reviews about the shower curtains and yes, when we got there there were shower curtains, but they were clean and it was not a problem. Glass would have been a bit more modern, I am sure they will get to this, it was certainly not a deal breaker! The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on Trinity Inlet, close to the Esplanade, but away enough from it so you can be isolated if that is your wish (it was for us). We had a fantastic trip and intend on going back to Cairns soon and when we do we will choose the Hilton again.

We were pleased with the beautiful room and awesome views of the “rainforest” in the center atrium of the hotel. The pool is incredible. Also, this location is top-notch.

Small casino and "Zoo/Doom" is across the street.

The Hilton is very well situated near the ship terminal and right in town. The room was a good size and the well-appointed bathroom has a window (with retractable shade) looking into the bedroom, which gave the room and bath an even larger feel. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

A friend and I stayed for 4 nights in order to celebrate our 30th and 31st birthdays and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel appears a bit older but is extremely well maintained/renovated and the staff are superb. The trendy yet comfortable feel to the lobby of the hotel was great. There were plenty of places to sit without the usual waiting room feeling that you get from some lobbies. Further inside the lobby there was a travel booth that helped us booked several tours and rent a car. Throughout our stay the staff was extremely helpful. The rooms are nice as well. The beds are large and comfortable, the tv is a nice sized flat panel, and the walkout balcony provides the most extraordinary view of the bay. The breakfast buffet was a definite thumbs up. Breakfast was located in the hotel's restaurant and the buffet had absolutely everything that you could imagine. Everyday we tried something new and did not get bored with the selection.

We loved this hotel's great location. Because of hotel is in the middle of the city we were initially worried about noise. However, our concerns were unwarranted. Each night we had a quiet and peaceful rest. It is an extremely short walk (less than 2 minutes) from the hotel to the Esplanade and it's right next door to the casino. It is also located directly on the marina where all of the boats to the Great Barrier Reef Excursions leave. Because of this we could easily walk to most of our tours without incurring extra transportation costs.

The only minor annoyance that we had at the hotel was during check-in. The hostess stated that all of the deluxe twin bed rooms with ocean views were booked and offered us a king bed with a free rollaway. Since we had booked this room in June for our November trip, we politely declined her offer and she stated that she could move us to a half city/half ocean view room. There is not much to the city and since we were guaranteed an ocean view room, we declined this also. When we enquired about receiving an upgraded spa room, the hostess stated that we were already getting a great rate but quickly juggled the rooms around to get us the original room with a ocean view that we had booked. Even though I did not like this run-around, I have to admit that throughout the entire ordeal the attendant remained polite and didn't have a negative attitude (especially when we kept declining).

Another thing I noticed is that the lotion and shampoo in the bathroom had been slightly used. Housekeeping must've missed that. However since we brought our own stuff, that was not a big deal. Besides that the bathroom and the room itself were extremely clean.

Despite the few shortcomings I named, The Hilton Cairns was by far the best hotel I stayed in while in Australia and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Additional thoughts: Make sure that if you stay at this hotel you book an ocean view room. There isn't much to the city since it is very touristy but the ocean view rooms show a great view of of Trinity Inlet Bay. Believe me it is absolutely worth it.

The first impression of Hilton Cairns was really good, porter assisted with luggage. Check-in was a breeze, probably because it seems that there is no other guest expect me. Offered me with a upgrade to Executive Floor for AUD80 which includes breakfast/pre-dinner drinks; I declined as I was there for a night and will be checking out really early. So didn't think it was worth it.

I got a room on Level 7. From the guest room levels, there is this amazing atrium designed like a rain forest. I felt like i was staying in a hotel in the rain forest. I got one of the NEWLY REFURBISHED ROOM; partial city, partial water view. Looks amazing. Modern room, beautifully furnished, a king bedding with REALLY BIG luscious pillows expect for the bathroom, which I don't think they have done anything with it. The old stand in tub shower, with shower curtain. It was really standard bathroom. I found a few long black hair, which is definitely not mine. After unpack, I went back down to reception to request for a Turndown Service and mentioned about the hair. The Japanese girl said No Worries. Later I return back to the room, turndown service was done but the hair is still there. Sigh... i couldnt be bothered to call for service again as it was getting late.

The hotel is within walking distance to everything. Next door to the Casino, Less than 5 minutes walk to the Esplanade, with lots of restaurants and cafe. 15 minutes easy walking to Cairns Central; shopping mall.

Had a couple of drinks in Mondo Cafe Bar; a nice garden bar with Trinity Bay in front of you.

Overall, I would definitely come back to this hotel again.

T he foyer and bar area are very modern and make an impressive first impression check in was very quick and effecient and in no time we were in our room on the top floor
Fantastic view over Trinity inlet in a recently refurbished room.Thte room was of a good size with plenty of space and modern decor, and had a good variety of lighting to read or work by,good size desk area and large flat screen tv,bed was large and comfortable in fact nothing to not like.
However the down sides , internet access at a increadibly high price and the worst part ,the bathroom ,while the room has been refurbished to a very high standard the bathroom was a mess, chipped bath .dirty grouting and tatty mirrors.I would have also expected in a room on the executive floor to haveat least a proper power shower and a fixed screen or seperate shower rather than an old shower curtain. The last negative has to be the aircon You just cannot get the rooms cool enough.
On a positive note to end the service from the staff in the lounge was fantastic and made up for the minor niggles.
