When we arrived at our room and walked into foyer area we noticed there was water all over the floor,we couldn't make out where it was coming from so we rang Reception they immediatley sent up house keeping. The lady was amaized and very appolajetic, she also could not make out where it was coming from. She rang her superior and he arrived straight away, he looked up at the ceiling and it was covered in water damaged, he immediatley put us into another room. The service and the staff were wonderfull as for the condition of the rooms they haven't spent a cent on the upkeep for along time, and for a special occasion they should offer Locals a Bottle of Champ's or something special to remember there occasion as this information will than be passed onto there many friends. Little treats on the pillow is also a great idear, this use to be the case a couple of years ago. It was a little bit diappointing.

This was caused by a guest in the room above over-filling the spa bath and having clothing blocking the bathroom's floor drain. This is a most unusual occurrence and we are sorry that it impacted on your arrival. I am pleased that my team were able to respond quickly to allocate you another room.
Our rooms a designed in a classic tropical Queensland feel that most guests agree best suit the tropical environment here in Cairns. We spend a great deal of time and money in maintaining our rooms and this was recently recognised by the independent hotel rating service AAA Tourism. Our 5 star rating was again maintained with an increase in our points scored. To date we remain the only 5 star property in Cairns that can make this claim.

Great stay would stay again if i could find a cheap rate
I visited the hotel only for 1 day as I was on business however I did have time to sample it well.
I found the location excellent as you can walk to the esplanade and the restaurants on the inlet area comfortably as it is conveniently between them.
There is a convenience store with anything you might need like cheap drinks, bandaids etc accross the road on the Casino entrance.
The rooms are very spacious and decorated in a nice tropical style.
The bed and the pillows were some of the most comfortable I ever had.
I had a bathroom that opened up into the room with plantation shutters - I must say that was the first time in my life I watched TV while having a bubble spa and a drink! - lovely!
The bathroom was the most user-friendly layout ever too.
I used the pool in the early morning, it has a large deep area and is good for laps. There was only 1 other person. The water temperature was good.
I had breakfast in Tamarind restaurant - although the breakfast was excellent, they have a weird a'la carte system which means you wait a while for them to prepare it which is not good when you are in a hurry.
On a previous trip, I dined in the Tamarind restaurant for dinner - I can say the food is STUNNING!
I would go again.

Unlike many other hotels our bathrooms have a generous shower and separate bathsized jacquzzi in each room with large double jacquzzis in our suites. This means you dont need to step into the bath to take a shower. Further our toilets are separated from the bathroom giving added privacy.

Central to everything, great restaurants,entertainment, great views from room. Bed was ultimate in comfort.Service and friendly staff was A1. A minor irritation, we stayed in a junior suite, by no means a standard room, but about 3-4 of the lights in the room - the globes had blown, not good at this quality of room and price. This hotel does not have a BBQ, which some of the other 4 + 5 star hotels in Cairns do.
