We recently stayed at this hotel in superior seaside rooms for separate 3 night and one night stays on our one week in the Cairns/Port Douglas area.
The hotel is located closer to the airport, although a beautiful 25 minute walk by the sea will get you to the Marina area and the CBD where most of the restaurants and shops are located. The hotel also provides an hourly shuttle to and from the CBD, but will not provide a shuttle to the airport which is a $20 cab fare. Providing a shuttle that is mostly idle during the day to the airport would be a good improvement this hotel should consider.
Front desk customer service is the the best attribute of this hotel, always friendly and helpful with suggestions for dining etc. Daily cleaning of the hotel room could be better, and one day after being gone all day on a reef tour with a Please Clean sign left on our front door we returned to our room early in the evening with the room still not cleaned.
The room itself is average in size and fairly comfortable, although the balcony is small with two
cheap plastic chairs and no table. During our stay the pool was still under construction, which impaired significantly the view from our 2nd floor balcony. On our second one night stay we asked for a higher floor and this was much better, with a beautiful view of the sea.
One other downside was the poor WiFi connection, which kept losing strength making internet connections extremely frustrating.
Overall I would rate this hotel as average with potential for above average with some improvements noted.

Dear Jbmckenzie,

Thank you for your reply and apologies for the delay in replying.

It is always beneficial to receieve feedback on areas to improve; We are always evaluating our hotel against what our customers say. It is great to read you experienced our amazing staff which are by far the best asset of the hotel. As for the airport shuttle I will pass this on to our management team to review. Also for your reference we have recently invested in our Internet Connection with a noticeable difference in capabilities.

I do hope you return and experience the hotel again and find some significant improvements.

Kind regards,

Thomas Kelly
Assistant Manager

This was our first visit to Cairns, and we checked in early. However, we were quickly accommodated in the rooms, and were very well assisted in making our other bookings for sightseeing. We had a harbour view room, and it was truly awesome. A very tourist friendly management. The only issue was the Wi-Fi, which would get disconnected so often. The speed was really slow.

Room Tip: For a little extra price, go for the harbour room

I recently stayed here with my son as we were in Cairns for sport. The hotel was everything we needed and the staff were very friendly. Our room was just the standard room - the beds were really comfortable and we had a lovely view of the harbour. It was clean and comfortable. The pool was being renovated but they did offer a free shuttle to the Novotel to use their pool. The breakie was nice and we also had dinner there which was also good. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Get a harbour view

We arrived on the day before the tropical cyclone but the staff did all they could to help. The pool was being renovated which limited the bar area and was noisy on the first night. That saying, I have been to better hotels. The food was only average and the staff seemed a little distant and even unavailable at times.
Near the esplanade and only a short walk into town. Convenient for the airport - we were on the way (2 nights) to and returning from (one night) Port Douglas.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view.

Dear Thetroothfairy,

Thank you for your review and my apologies for the delay in replying.

I am disspointed to hear that your experience at the hotel didn't live up to our normal high standards. Even though we had arranged an alternative arrangement due to the pool, we understand how this may have impacted your experience with us.

I do hope you book with us in the future as the pool renovations are now finished.

Kind Regards,

Thomas Kelly
