I stayed here in early May for 2 nights on business. The rooms were great for the price we paid, and the front desk was helpful and courteous. My only negative comments are:
1. We had a room facing busy Sheridan Street. There is a set of traffic lights immediately in front of the hotel, and the noise from the stop/start traffic was intrusive. If you stay, ask for a room on the rear side of the complex.
2. Drunken yobbos occupying the room with a balcony right over the carpark and main entrance. Every time we came or went we were had to endure a stream of profanities issuing from the balcony. I recommend the hotel is careful who they let occupy that particular apartment.
Other than those two things, good value and good quality accommodation, especially the well-equipped kitchen.

We stayed at the tropic apartments in Oct 2009 for 10days, the apartment was clean and quite spacious and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Although there was aircraft noise it didn't really bother us.
Great loscation if you have a hire car as it is on the main highway.

We looked at other reviews of Tropic Towers before we booked and as they all were good, we booked our trip. We were not disappointed - the room was very nice and clean, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with all of our enquiries as to the area and things to do. Could walk into town from there though would have been too much of a walk for us with a 7 year old and, without a vehicle, there was not a lot of places to eat within walking distance. There was a hotel close by though that catered for families and had lovely meals but it was all much more convenient after we had hired a car.

My friends and I went to Cairns to do a four-day scuba diving course. We weren't planning on sight-seeing, shopping, nightlife etc because we were just there to dive and knew we'd be too tired at the end of each day. So we booked self-contained value-for-money accommodation because we were on a budget. We were really happy with the price, plus we got stay four nights get one night free. When we got there, it was spacious and neat. It was away from the main strip, but right near a supermarket and bottle shop so we were content.
The extra surprises were that over the next few days we realised that they were servicing our apartment each day cos we'd come back to it nice and tidy. Plus, I locked myself out on a Sunday night and felt awkward ringing the managers up out of hours, but the lady was sooooo nice about it. We just thought the customer service was great.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment. Overall it was clean, the air conditoning worked well and the apartment itself was nice enough. I did read other reviews stating there was excessive plane noise however I did not notice this at all. We had a room on front of the building, the main road noise is pretty loud but not the end of the world.

Service was good.

Pool and BBQ area is nice.

It does take a good 20 minutes to get into town but its a nice walk along the esplanade. A cab costs less than $10,

overall happy with tropic towers.

We stayed at the Tropic Towers for 3 nights, we chose this accommodation as we wanted self catering facilities.

The apartment was exactly as described on the web site – a kitchen with basic equipment, a large lounge, bedroom, a bathroom which also had a washing machine and dryer, and a balcony which could be accessed from the bedroom or lounge . All areas were clean.

The hotel provides details of many near by take away services which will deliver if you don’t want to cook.. Across the road, to the right is a bottle shop (off-licence) and a family run pub.

Tropic Towers is a little way out of the main area of Cairns but it’s a pleasant walk along the Esplanade (approx 20mins) and there is a bus from town which stops across the road.

The reception are provides a large amount of literature on the trips and sights which can be visited whilst in Cairns and reception staff are very helpful – providing advice and if necessary booking trips for you.

The hotel does have a pool at the front of the hotel, the noise from the traffic is quite loud but otherwise pleasant.

The only slight problem with this accomodation is the aircraft noise, whilst they don't fly through the night the first ones do start at about 6.00am

We stayed at the Tropic Towers for a week at the start of April. We've booked a two bedroom apartment for 4 adults. The apartment was clean and spacious with all the necessary conveniences. The Tropic Towers are situated on the main road into Cairns from the airport which meant finding the apartments was quite easy. Our apartment was facing the sea on the fourth floor, which is on the sunny and less busy side of the building. We did notice some aircraft noise, but only for the big jets with about 12 flights a day max. There are no flights between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. We had a hire car during our stay which we used to tour the area as far away as Port Douglas. The Tropic Towers staff were most helpful in suggesting itineraries for us to make the most of the local area attractions. In fact if it was not for the staff sugestions, our stay would have been far less enjoyable as the weather conditions for the week were poor, with lots of showers and strong trade SE winds at 20 to 30 knots. You can get an updated weather and reef conditions forecast at the Tropic Towers reception each day. Highlights of our trip where a visit to Skybury coffee plantation, Hartley's crocodile farm, swimming in the Baron and Mossman river, and the water ski cable park. We had hoped to go scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef but the strong winds for the week made the sea too rough for a enjoyable boat trip. The underwater visibility on the outer reef was also very poor. Ironically the winds eased on the day we left. Our best evening meal was at Charlie's seafood restaurant in the nearby Acacia hotel (5 minute walk) where a truly excellent seafood buffet only costs $27.00 a head. At the end of each day we always looked forward to returning to the Tropic Towers too chill out with a bottle of wine, from the shop across the road, after each day's adventures.
