Been to The Sebel for 1 night after a 5 day liveaboard trip in Cairns.
We were definitely impressed with the granduer and cosiness of the hotel. A great respite from our rocky 4 nights' sleep on the liveaboard ship.

The hotel is conveniently located on Abbott Street, just 5mins walk from the harbour, the esplanade, 10mins walk from the Central shopping complex and it's just opposite the casino (for those who are keen).

Room is clean, view of the Cairns city is great from our 13th floor room and the pool is luxurious with a jaccuzzi pool along with it. Will definitely recommend this hotel!

The Cairns Sebel holds its own in the competitive Cairns accommodation market. Comfortable, clean rooms, excellent service from beginning to end and just an all round excellent attitude towards customer satisfaction.

The lobby and hotel surrounds are beautifully presented with staff willing to go beyond a basic level of service to ensure needs are met.

The only recommendation would be for the hotel to invest in some high quality pillows. Ours were like rocks!

Overall a really good hotel experience. Defintely would stay there again.

My partner and I stayed here for our anniversary it was also our first time to cairns. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are very nice and helpful! However, we booked a king room only to discover after a terrible 1st nights sleep that our bed was in fact 2 single bed pushed together! Was not inpressed. Other than that there we're no problems and the rooms in hole were clean and very nice! Very much enjoyed our stay! Would definately go back and would stay here again!

I dont usually write reviews, but thought I just had to for this hotel. On the hotels website, it says it has been through a refurbishment. I saw no evidence of this anywhere. After being moved to another room (because our toilet wouldn't flush in the original room), we were given a smaller room that had mould on the bathroom ceiling and floor tiles. The walls needed painting and the outdoor furniture needed a good clean. This hotel was not even 3 star.

stayed here for 2 nights after moving across from the Shangri-la Hotel when we decided to extend our stay in Cairns and the Shangri-la was fully booked. Enquired at reception for availability and was told would have to have suite as hotel was fully booked. Went back online and booked standard room with no problem. Checked in fine - lobby nice, hallways nice and open which is quite refreshing for a hotel. Had asked for a quite room and was pleased to find we were put at the end of the building away from the lifts and that's about the best of the stay.
First thing i do when checking into a room is usually store valubles in the safe then go for an explore. Now the safe in the room is tiny. I mean tiny - 4 inches deep and 5 inches high with an opening of about 8 inches. Okay, good enough for passports and a bit of cash BUT you need a key for it. I phone down to reception to be told they want AUS$3.30 per day for the key. ARE YOU KIDDING ?? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?? If you are going charge for a facility at least make it a proper facility. When i asked if the hotel had a safe i could put my laptop in they said they may be able to "squeeze" it in.
Room was nice size. Very very noisy though with thin walls and bad noise transference ( woke up by man coughing his guts up next door ). Very noisy overhead, balcony doors keep zero noise out and with a night club just over the road - and hey it is Cairns so its music every day!!
The shower in the bathroom was dangerous !!!!! Told the manager but didn't seem concerned. Come on, what does it cost to put in a thermostatic control so that when someone, somewhere else in the hotel flushes a toilet or runs a cold tap you don't get scolded !!!
Booked a taxi for 6am so went to bed early as had to be up a 5am. Room phone rang just before midnight and woke us with nobody on the other end. Phoned reception to see if it was them and they said it must be some one calling for us, well not a soul knew we were there. They then said it might be a faulty phone - we unplugged it.
Internet pricey!
Wouldn't stay again.
