“Another great stay”
Reviewed 28 September 2012

The family have visited the resort several times & its a great place to stay. Even though the kids are older we all had fun in the pool, playing crazy golf & table tennis. The shop is handy & the cafe served up some great food. The resort is a short drive into Cairns with loads of resturants & cinema's.

Room Tip: If you are on a budget the Tropical ensuite villas are great for a family of 4.

This is a perfect spot for kids and budget. It is geared towards the local family getaway, but not the best spot if you are a foreign tourist. My wife and I made the mistake of staying here to save some money while we visited Cairns, and came away disappointed.
I will highly recommend booking tours and sightseeing through the front desk staff. They were very helpful, and very convenient. Any brochure you pick up anywhere they can book and give great recommendations.
The real downside to this place was the utterly filthy blankets, and an infestation of bugs in our bed as soon as you turn out the lights. We pulled a blanket from the closet, and it was obvious none of the three that were in there had ever been washed. They smelled, they had hair, chocolate and lord knows what else on them. My wife is a bit squeamish, and after one night, we moved to a hotel downtown.
Don't shy away from the ameneties though. This is a great place to camp out and bring the kids. They will have endless fun with bikes, waterparks, pools, trampolines, play parks and outdoor movies nightly. They have laundry machines, but they are small and expensive. ($4 per 30 minutes)

Room Tip: Bring your caravan, or a tent. Cabins have bugs.

We have read your review following your recent stay with us and am concered about several aspects of your review. We love having guests here from all parts of the globe and only this week welcomed back some guests from France who celebrated their 6th stay with us as their most preferred place to stay in Australia. I can also advise that we have an external pest company service all Cabins in the Resort every 4 months although the norm is to have a pest service only once per year. I have also asked all the housekeeping staff to keep a closer eye on all the blankets as we do own and operate our own large washing machine and clean all our blankets on a very regular basis. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the large range of activities that we do have here at the Resort and only hope that the remainder of your holiday in Australai was a happy and safe one.

We hired 4 cabins two weeks ago for 4 nights to host my sons 1st birthday - 2x tropical ensuites, a villa and a coconut condo. And each cabin was worth the amount we paid. my husband was hesitant at first because of the price. but come the week of the celebration, we both knew it was all worth it. Our family were very impressed with the site and like many of the reviews here...the kids just didnt want to leave! Neither did the adults. Weather was perfect, and shops arent more than a few minutes down the road. All cabins were clean and well presented and nothing short of 5 star. it kept all our kids well entertained and made bedtime rather EASY! Staff were great and very helpful. I consider ourselves rather tight hehe but ITS WORTH THE MONEY!!! Thank you so much to the staff for everything!!!! We will definitely be staying again!!

Anyone with money can set up a swanky resort, but it is the consideration of guests needs that puts one place ahead of another. Three times during our stay we required special consideration due to late arrival of our ship, cancellation of our departure flight, bookings of taxis/shuttle service
and in each instance the staff carried out our requests cheerfully allowing late checkout, early checkin and attention to our bookings. Two other family groups with us also needed consideration for the same reasons. This resort was absolutely the most obliging we have ever stayed at. The facilities are, as described by others, great for families...so much to do. As a senior I enjoyed watching the children having fun, wishing our Grandchildren were with us.
I agree a car is necessary to enable guests to visit all the attractions of Cairns. The shuttle to the airport was cheap and efficient. Our holiday unit was quiet, cool, clean, well equipped and set in beautifully kept tropical gardens. Much nicer place to stay than a multi storied hotel. Thanks to management who maintain such high standards.

Room Tip: All the different types of accommodation were well located

Am so pleased to read your review following your stay with us. We do strive to provide the very best in customer care as it is easy to build the biggest and the best but to deliver on great customer service is what sets a business apart from the rest. We were delighted in being able to assisit you and the others in your party during your stay and I will be passing on your positive comments to the staff as it is feedback such as yours that motivates the staff to continue to enjoy coming to work. As we do provide the 3 times a day free bus service to town and having all day tours pick up from the front of the Resort, we feel that it is possible to enjoy Cairns without the added cost of a car but understand that there is lots to see and do in and around town so maybe a car is needed on some days. Again thankyou for the great review and trust your jouney home was a safe and enjoyable one.

We spent 10 great days at the Cairns Coconut Resort. If you have kids then this is definitely the place to stay. It has two pools and a water park which unfortunately scared my 5 yr old some, but he loved the sun lagoon. He was also impressed with the mini golf, outdoor movies and large chess game.

We were tenting and the site was green and lush, we noticed sprinklers on each day, obviously they don't have water restrictions up north. There were also plenty of trees around which encouraged bird life, much to my sons delight. We also had a fruit bat which seemed to be stationed above our site.

We booked a few tours through the front desk and the staff were always friendly, and we found this service convenient. I would advise you to hire a car if staying at this park as it is about a 20 min drive from the centre of town. There is a courtesy bus, but it only runs 3 times a day and we never managed to catch it.

I think the toilets and showers could have used cleaning more often as they obviously got a lot of use. And a service to and from the airport might also be something for them to consider.

Overall I would rate this as a great place to take the family :P

We are sorry to read that your son was worried when using the Splash water park during your recent stay with us. It is good to see that he had enjoyed himselp with the other great range of activities that are on offer here at the Resort. As the Resort is only 7 Kilometres from the city centre, we generally find that it is only a 10 minute car ride via the Ray Jones Drive so you may have been missdirected on the Mulgrave road route that can take longer. Our Courtesy bus does leave the Resort at 9.00am 12.00pm and 3.00pm daily which is a really great way to be able to get down town rather than use private transport but am sorry to see that you missed it each time. I can assure you that the amenities are cleaned 3 times a day and can only guess that you must have used the amenities just before cleaning each day. Overall we are happy to see that you did enjoy your stay and rated the Resort Highly. Thank you again for your review.

From the moment we arrived after a long and protracted trip, we knew we had made the right decision. The service at the front desk was excellent and this was to be maintained throughout our 6 night stay irrelevant of who was helping.
Lets start with the accomodation. My family, 4 adults and 2 children stayed in one of the Condo`s which are sold as "top of the range 3 bedroom..." and yes they absolutely were. It was in essence a home away from home with everything we needed to make our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. The kids were particuarly pleased that we were close to one of the biggest swimming pools. One of the highlights of the accomodation was the outdoor BBQ which was used every night. Easy to clean, easy to light(just push the button) and easy to cook.
The facillities were great and mainly centred around swimming, although there was so much more to do, particularly for the kids. In total there were at least a couple of swimming pools and also a water park area. All were clean and safe and were regulalrly being checked for levels, temp etc.. They are cold when you first jump in but you get used to it after a while. As we went in August the temp averages out at about 26 for the time we were there. So we all swam, played a bit of tennis, played crazy golf, had panckakes together with everyone one morning. The facillities were great. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY FREE !!
Coming from the UK, I got a little nervous about the distance from the airport and Carins city centre but infact both were relatively close. The resort also offers a free shuttle service to Cairns and the bus stop for the main service is right outside

I hired a big transporter from Avis which cost £400 for 4 nights which I though was good value for money. If you dont have transport of your own, please seriously consider hiring a car. Our vehicle was used everyday and it enabled us to stop off at places that we could not have done on a tour bus. There are so many wonderful stretches of beaches on a drive up to Post Douglas, that youll want to stop at each. We certainly did and enjoyed every single one.
Shopping tip - Do Not shop from the local supermarket off Anderson Rd. The variety and prices are poor. Go instead to the main supermarket - Coles which isnt too far away.
so any gripes - yes two minor ones.
1) I had asked twice for our luggage to be picked up at 8am so we could meet our onward journey to Melbourne. To cut a long story short, no-one appeared so I had to go to reception to call them myself. The lady who helped us apologised and was really nice - so not a big problem.
2) On my last night and with our food a drink all consumed, I fancied a beer on the verandah to watch the incredible sunset. Unfortunately, the shop on site doesnt sell alcohol and the cafe next door doesnt allow you to take anyaway.

So all in all a wonderful experience. There werent many international travellers there during our stay so I`m not sure that everyone knows about this wonderful resort. Out of all the hotels and resorts we stayed in on this trip to India, Singapore, HK and Aus, this was easily the best - because it met the whole family needs.

Well done Coconut Resort Cairns !! and see you again soon.

Room Tip: Go for the Condos - SC8 is an excellent location

What can I say but thankyou for such a great review. You have certainly gone to some length to cover nearly all relevant points associated with your stay here with us. You have gone to some detail that is really good to read right down to the detail of how good and easy the BBQ is to use on the Verandah. It is Guest reviews such as yours that helps to keep the staff motivated in their day to day tasks to ensure that the resort facilities are maintained at the 5 star level that we are striving for all the time. Aagin thankyou so much for your great review and look forward to the next time that you are able to stay with us. We trust your trip home was an enjoyable and safe one.

This caravan park/resort is one of the best if not the best park I have stayed at in my travels around Australia. Can't comment on the rooms but can speak on behalf of a caravan camper.

When you arrive you are greeted by friendly staff. Credit to the business leaders who chooses the staff, or the way the staff are trained.

After the greeted you get a tour of the park to let you know where all the facilities are.

Tha camp kitchen is always clean and tidy and has toasters, kettles, BBQ, large fridge etc. it's the simple things like fresh dish cloths and dishwashing liquid available for the campers to use.

Heaps of activities - kids water park, tennis, 18 hole mini golf, 2 pools and spa, table tennis, pool tables, tennis, beach volley ball, outdoor cinema, tv room, peddle cars, oversize chess and basketball court just to name a few. All the facilities are free (deposit for balls, clubs, etc as you would expect) which is great as the kids don't keep coming to mum and dad asking for money.

Bingo one day during the weeks and drinks and nibbles another creates an atmosphere for travers and holiday makers to meet.

All the amenities are clean and the staff working on the tidiness of park which is exceptional, are also friendly.

Highly recommended place to stay and as I write this review, my wife is at the office extending our stay.
