Thank you for your recent review. It is most pleasing to read that you had a comfortable stay and you enjoyed your meals from our char-grill restaurant 'Steak on Lake'.
Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Cairns Queenslander and we look forward to welcoming you again.
We stayed in a one bedroom Orchid appartment for two weeks during Aug 2013. We found the room to be lovely and clean, and comfortable to stay in. We were also impressed that not only was the room quiet, but it stayed nice and cool, something that can be a challenge in Cairns. We would put the ceiling fan on low of a night, which would gently circulate some air around for a comfortable nights sleep. The appartment was well appointed, and being relatively new, the fittings and fixtures were all very modern. We found the location to be good with easy access, although it's around a 15 to 20 minute walk into Cairns inner city, this wasn't a problem for us though as we had a car. However, having said that, it's a great walk into Cairns from here, it's only a block back from the waterfront which is very pleasant to stroll along. The restaurant was a real bonus and we ate there several times. They don't have a huge menu, but between the main menu and the specials, we had plenty of variety. And, the food was great, especially their steaks! The main thing we found with this hotel was that the staff were friendly and helpfull, which really does make all the difference. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cairns Queenslander.
Hi Darren C, Thank you for recommending our hotel and staff. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards
With only a 5 minute taxi ride from the airport its hard to believe that you don't hear any aeroplanes once your checked in.
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, our newly refurbished room was very clean and modern and had all the creature comforts. The bathroom was also very modern with a giant shower head.
The pool and spa area was great to lounge around all day and relax and unwind and cool down.
The restaurant and beverage selection was very reasonably priced and the meals were of excellent quality.
With under a 8 minute taxi ride into Cairns or a 15 minute brisk walk the worst thing about this hotel is leaving.
Dear Deanne G. Your review was greatly appreciated . Thank you for taking the time and hopefully we will see you again.
We were two elderly couples sharing adjoining rooms with an interconnecting door which made it easy to socialise. We found the rooms spacious and comfortable with both ceiling fans and an air conditioner. The kitchen equipment was a bit hit and miss but apart from that we were very satisfied. The staff could not have been more helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to post this wonderful review. The Cairns Queenslander is proudly Australian family owned & operated and we are really pleased we contributed in making your stay in Cairns enjoyable.
We did not know what to expect, but was extremely pleased not only with accommodations, but staff were great. Anne and Stani, were outstanding, more than willing to assist with reservations for Great Barrier Reef trip, any questions we had, as well as ensuring our comfort with area, etc. The hotel was centrally located with easy access to esplanade, bus stop, etc. Accommodations were great for price!
Breakfast onsite was great, and staff most pleasant! Also have laundry area for public use; 3$ for washer use, 3$ for dryer.
It was our home away from home for 4 days, and will definitely plan to stay there upon a return trip.
Many thanks to each of you for making the start of our Australia travels a very pleasant one.
Dear Donna C
Thank you for your kind words, very much appreciated. My team will be delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Cairns Queenslander. We look forward to seeing you again.
We were very disappointed when entering the room as we were overcome with the strong smell of stale smoke. Our first trip was to the supermarket to buy some air freshener so we could feel comfortable in the room. Enjoying the balcony area was impossible as surrounding smokers made this unbearable and the door had to be closed to prevent smoke odours entering the room. Bathroom was disappointing as the fan didn't work and there was a strong musty smell. Staff were lovely but feel we really wasted flybuys points on this accommodation plus the additional nights we stayed.
Dear Marilyn S
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We truly value the opinions of our customers.
Our reception is open daily 24 hours and unfortunately you chose not to mention your issues, in your own words to our ‘lovely staff’. Most certainly we would have liked the opportunity to speak with you and address any issue to your satisfaction whilst you were at the property.
Smoking in guest rooms is not permitted by Queensland law. If smoking occurs within a room very easily the hotel fire alarm system would be activated. An exterior room area such as exterior patio and balcony smoking is permitted. In regard to your annoyance of other guests smoking on their private balcony, to solve this issue we could have offered you immediate relocation to another room situated in another area on the property.
If you do come back to our hotel I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you directly. We really do hope to see you again in the future.
