“Super friendly”
Reviewed 14 February 2014 via mobile

This is such a refreshing and colourful place. the rooms are comfortable and well laid out. Lovely and clean hostel. The staff are great and super friendly. The bus shuttle to and from the centre is a real bonus. I can only recommend this place. No complications!

Tropic Days had everything you could want. The staff are friendly, the place is clean, the kitchen is almost fully stocked with some free food even. There's pretty good free wifi and they give you a towel as well (which is very nice!)

Personally, I think they should have sheets on the bed instead of big blankets because it's so hot, but it was still fine. The air con is $1 for 3 hours, but really, it's not that big a deal and discourages people from using energy they don't need. They have recycling and a great cleaning team.

I didn't go to the BBQ Monday night but heard it was great (for meat eaters anyway!)
It's a bit of a hike to the city centre (about 30min )but they offer pretty regular buses into town. They're helpful booking trips and there are lots of little social areas.

Overall, a great visit!

Room Tip: I stayed in the 4 dorm and it was perfect. Hangers for stuff and a plug for every bed. Never had t...

Tropic Days has been the first hostel we have actually felt welcome in after travelling around for 3 weeks and made more firends in two days.
My husband and I are recently married therefore wanted some privacy yet were able to sit out and meet everyone around the hostel when we wanted to. We had a private room with a fridge and we shared a kitchen and a bathroom. This was grand as we became friends with our neighbours and did day trips with them.
Facilities are great, hammocks everwhere, free pool table and the swimming pool is kept clean. Staff are so friendly and nothing is too much to ask or silly. We booked a few extra nights to be able to stay for their famous auzzie bbq night. Guests from their sister hostel (travellers oasis) come up to join in the fun while Gabriel (the owner) cooks kangaroo, crocodile and emu before telling stories and teaching us to play the didgeridoo.
Hostel bus runs regularly to town for free and drops off perfectly outside the supermarket. No bar but some beer available at reception however there is a off licence not far away and the fridges at the hostel can hold plenty.
Again staff so helpful in being honest about the local trips and what to see and do. Definitely recommend!!

My husband and I and another couple stayed at this hostel. We're all over 60 and a little concerned about the noise and activity at hostels. But this stay was great!!!! NICE accommodations with AC available. Appreciated the TV in the room as well as the refrigerator. Very nice, helpful staff. I highly recommend it to older couples. Thank you Tropic Days for all your help in arranging our tours also.

I stayed for a week and thought the staff were lovely. Kerry was extremely helpful and always very polite and friendly. The boys that drive the shuttle are sweeties.

It's quite a way from town which I like as it's quiet and relaxing.

I found the facilities clean and the kitchen easy to cook in.

The one thing I will say is that some of the smaller rooms can get very sticky and towels/clothes not dry due I think to the size. The first room i was in was great, spacious and clean. However the second room was a fair amount smaller and smelt of gone off boys (probably who I was sharing with but it's difficult!)

In all I would definitely recommend staying here! There's a good vibe and great staff

Tropic Days is a quaint little hostel tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. There are hammocks for lazing in and a pool for lounging by, but unfortunately relaxed vibes weren't the only thing permeating through the hostel during my stay. The shared shower stunk of pee and the air in my dorm room had a tangible presence. Overall it wasn't too shabby, but it's not a place I'll be rushing back to any time soon.

This is a great, relaxed hostel. Perfect for seeing the sites of Cairns and surrounding area.

Very clean, lovely pool area with hammocks. Kitchen looked great and a few places to sit and meet fellow travellers. Also great booking service for tours (great barrier reef and rainforest).

Few things.....if you want a backpackers with a big bar and events on then this isn't for you. It's a quiet out of the centre hostel which was perfect for me. It is a 30min walk to the town centre but they do run free buses most of the day which are great.
