Description: The Cafe Fika is the coffee shop baking and creating the true genuine flavours of Sweden with help of imported and local ingredients. We bake cinnamon scrolls, semlor, princess cakes, mazariner, chocolate/espresso balls and a wide range of Swedish Pastries, some daily and some vary from day to day, we also take pre orders for cakes and pastries for dinner party and functions. The menu are available all day and kept as Swedish as we possibly can. You can enjoy everything from fresh crispy waffles with cloudberry jam, classic dishes as Toast Skagen (dill& prawn mix) Meatball sandwiches or more filling a Swedish style cooked roast beef and potato salad. We dill cure our own salmon and serve it with the classic dill & mustard sauce and we serve fresh salads with cold smoked salmon that melts in your mouth, simply something Swedish for every tastebud!

Highly recommended! The also have a book swap shelf! I love it how you can buy the food with you home in the little shop as well. Everyone should go and try the filtered coffee!

I have been wanting to try Cafe Fika ever since I heard the advertisement on the radio. I visited Sweden about 8 years ago and loved the people and the food, so was keen to try. On arrival at the Cafe we were greeted by the bubbly & welcoming Maria and she explained her shop and the menu. We were keen to try the Swedish meat balls and also the roast beef open sandwich. The meatballs with the accompanying beetroot salad was our favourite of the mains. Had to try the 'Fika' (filtered coffee) seeing we were at Cafe Fika! $3.50 a cup which included a free refill. Can't beat that. To top off the lovely brunch we had to try the waffles. They were served with cream and Cloudberry jam. Wonderful waffles! We enjoyed our visit to Cafe Fika and will definitely be back.

I heard about "The Swedish Shop" in Cairns from my relatives while visiting in Finland. Now Cafe Fika has been opened and to my delight a lot of the flavours of Sweden and Finland that I love. Maria the owner is open to suggestions of other dishes to put on the menu as well as requests for ingredients to stock in the "shop" next to the Cafe. Since finding the cafe it has become my regular place for coffee and a snack. One of my favourites is "Skagen" prawn with dill and mayo on toast, love it! The other favourite would have to be the Karelian pastry which is a Finnish dish served with egg and butter. Had this just this morning and savoured every biteful. My daughter loves the swedish meatballs sandwich with beetroot salad. I am also loving the coffee and believe it to be the best in Cairns. Congratulations to Maria and her wonderful friendly staff for great food and coffee!

I met a friend for lunch, and happened (by sheer coincidence) to be standing waiting outside Cafe Fika, watching the beautifully presented lunch plates being delivered to diners. When my friend arrived, "Here" seemed the obvious answer to the "where will we go?" question! On initial inquiry, we were greeted with enthusiasm by the owner, who explained the Swedish food, and gave us a menu to look at.

Lunch choices were essentially breads with fillings or toppings, and salads, but with a delightful difference from the usual cafe offerings. We received friendly, helpful advice when ordering - explanations of items, suggestions, and even a look (and smell!) of the recommended tea leaves. Food was freshly prepared, attractively presented, and very tasty. Prices were good - I felt we had excellent value for money. There was no pressure to leave once we had finished; we felt welcome to finish our conversation.

We enjoyed it so much, we returned the following day for morning coffee. Again, the service was welcoming. Sadly, no one was hungry enough to try the sweets - maybe next visit to Cairns.
