“Good BUT....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2013

The tour was good. We had Jim for tour guide and he is very knowledgeable and made the trip fun. We did have to rush at many locations but it's expectable since the itinerary included a lot. Everything was good, the walk was nice with Jim's explanation, Mossman Gorge was a bit rush but overall we hit all our highlights.

Why one star off? We booked through their website (Tropics Explorer.com.au) which did not include lunch or ferry. There were no other packages for other inclusions for the day tour. My husband and I were the only ones on the full bus that did not include lunch or ferry. At once point I thought I must have booked it like that on purpose. Jim asked us later why we didn't book the tour with lunch or ferry b/c it would have been cheaper. When we got home I was determined to find out how much it costs with lunch and ferry. You have to google the company's name with the word ferry and lunch included to find a page that offers that package. The price we paid total with out of pocket cost would be the same as others having a free lunch. Sucks. Lunch was good but not cheap!

“Would not recommend!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013

We originally planned to visit cape tribulation with cape trib connections but were advised by travelbugs to pay the extra to go with Active tropics explorer as the day was much more structured and all together a better experience. I have to strongly disagree. We paid $134 each which included the croc spotting cruise (we saw the tail of a crocodile in the water for a split second) a boardwalk through the rainforest, visiting ice cream shop (at own cost) cape tribulation (we got to spend TEN MINUTES on the beach, an average rushed lunch at a local cape trib hostel, an aboriginal experience at mossman gorge with 30mins to explore or swim and a stop at Alexandra lookout. The whole day was completely rushed with nowhere near enough time at the main venues and far too much time wasted at pointless stops (25 mins at a cafe on the highway to buy breakfast and coffee at own cost). 90% of the day is spent on the minibus driving to and from locations that you barely even have time to look at. Our guide loved the sound of his own voice and gave a pointless narration of the ENTIRE journey and at one point asked everyone on the bus to stop talking amongst themselves. I felt like I was on a school trip. All in all, a great shame as the locations were beautiful but time was wasted on pointless things. A waste of money and definitely NOT an ACTIVE tour.

“Great Cape Tribulation tour!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2013 via mobile

Considering how expensive most of the Cairns tours are this one is really a very good value for money. A day packed with some amazing places (Daintree River cruise with Crocodile spotting, Cape Tribulation, Alexandra lookout, Rex lookout, rainforest walk and Mossman Gorge with the talk provided by one of the indigenous guide). An excellent job by Jim who is extremely knowledgeable about the entire area and everything you may be willing to know about. And make sure you taste them amazing Daintree ice-creams on the way, where the flavours are taken from all the unique and naturally grown trees!!!Would definitely recommend to anyone!!!

“Great day out in Cape Trib!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

While I was in Cairns I knew I had to go see a rainforest and so chose this day tour as there were a few different aspects such as the crocodile cruise where we did see one crocodile in the Daintree River which was pretty cool. We had a lunch (which was included in the price) in Cape Trib, walked through the Daintree Rainforest and got to talk to an Indigenous Australian part of the Kuku Yalanji tribe which was very interesting! Our tour guide, Jim, was really funny and was really informative throughout the whole trip, especially when travelling in the bus which is always good. I had a really great day (even though my legs were swollen from burning them snorkelling on the barrier reef the day before!) and I highly recommend this trip!
