We had a hens night and there were around thirty of us. We arrived at 7pm and decided it would be easiest if we all ordered the banquet for $44pp. We waited over 25 minutes before a waiter even bothered to ask any of us if we wanted a drink, in this time a couple of the other women just got up and walked to the bar to get drinks. When served by who we are presuming is the owner (as he was the only one not in uniform) it was almost as if we were inconveniencing him.
Finally the first round of entree's came out, and sadly these were the best part of the night. There was nearly an hour wait between entree's and mains coming out and the mains consisted of salad, plates of octopus and a half cold half steaming lamb dish that had clearly been microwaved and not stirred during this process. There was also a half cooked attempt at pizza which had cheese and tomato chunks in it and was sloppy on the inside.
This all could have been bearable (just) until the next time we approached the bar, he had run out of the spirit we had been drinking. The excuse was that they'd had a wedding party that day. I got some sort of cheap version of what I was drinking mixed in with the remainder of my original spirit.....and charged the same price as the more expensive one. It was empty aside from our party, the manager/owner could have come up with the simple solution that a staff member walk to the bottle shop (would have been a five minute walk) and buy another bottle to serve. We would have spent more money but instead we just stopped drinking and couldn't wait to get out of there.
By the time the "desert" came out, we had all had enough. Desert was one little plate of what looked like a savoury dish with a glaze of sugar on top. We looked over and the owner/manager was sitting in plain view of everyone having a cigarette with his staff members. Clearly this was more important than serving a party of 30 people who had just spent over a grand at your restaurant.
When everyone went to pay, we were met with the same grumpy owner and it put an extremely sour taste in everyone's mouths. If this is the way he normally serves I give this place another two months. Dundee's next door was absolutely packed and we now understand why.
