I stayed at the Grosvenor for just three nights. I remember clearly how warmly I was greeted by Ann and how informative and helpful she was in advising me on Great Reef tours and the differences between them. The lobby is stocked with pamphlets on activities in the area, but it was great to get Ann's recommendations. I rented a studio apartment, and it was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It's a bit of a walk to restaurants, bit I didn't mind because I like to walk. I love self service apartments because you can eat some meals in, which I did. The Grosvenor is an affordable, comfortable choice for budget travelers and the service is top notch and with a smile to boot.

Thank you for your review and nice comments! We take pride in the level of customer service we deliver to all of our guests, particularly when they arrive. There are so many tours and activities do do in and around Cairns that it can be confusing for visitors to choose "just the right one for them" and we don't mind at all spending time explaining the different options and why one tour may be better than another "for you". A Studio is a good, 'value for money' accommodation option for short stays where you don't need a kitchen or cooking facilities (although we are currently in the process of putting a microwave oven in them all). Cairns is a great place to visit and a tour out to see the Great Barrier Reef is a must. Guests can always contact us by phone or email prior to their arrival to get information on tours and activities and the weather outlook over the period of their visit. This is particularly important if you are only staying a few days during a 'busy' period such as School Holidays, Christmas/New Year or Easter as some tours will be booked out 2 or 3 days in advance. - Brian and Anne (on-site managers)

Brian was very friendly and helpful. My buddy and I stayed a total of 3 nights. As for the apartment - it was very clean and tidy. 10 out of 10 and excellent value for money!! I Highly recommended to fellow travellers.

We're glad you found your accommodation "10 out of 10" and "excellent value for money". We try to keep our accommodation rates down to an affordable level and remember "the longer you stay - the cheaper the nightly rate becomes" ... and always consider booking direct with the hotel or apartment complex; that's where the cheapest rate will always be - Brian and Anne (on-site managers).

Having been in Australia for a year now and been less than pleased with Australian Customer Service I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding accomodation provided to me and my family at the Grosvenor. The hotel owners Bryan and Ann graciously recevied our groceries and purchased us alcohol since we were arriving on Christmas Day and everything would either be closed or insanely expensive. The location is a bit out of town but it's quiet and they have a lovely pool. The walk to the esplanade is more than manageable for all fitness levels and the owners were more than happy to help us set up all of our excursions. I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to my friends as well. Thanks again for a great holiday!!!!

Anne and I are really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us over the Christmas period and we thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind comments.

The reality is that most 4 Star apartment complexes are going to be somewhat similar in standard (most, but not all) with some minor differences in inclusions, the size of the pool and price etc etc., so Anne and I (and all of our staff) try to go out of our way to provide excellent customer service and advice to our guests. That includes contacting guests prior to their arrival (if we have contact details) and alerting them to situations they may not have considered such as an arrival on Christmas Day when nearly all the shops and supermarkets are closed. Ordering your groceries online and having them delivered just prior to your arrival was no trouble at all - Anne and Brian (on-site managers).

Grosvenor apartments separate themselves by their personalised service, a husband and wife team who really do try to ensure your stay is perfect. As an example, the air conditioning wasn't working properly in our room and Brian immediately not only found us another room but helped us move all our things over. We left our luggage with them while we went over to stay on an island , Brian made sure he was there when we returned and was just so helpful.
The studio apartment was quite big enough for the two os us and had everything we needed. The pool was more than adequate and the cost SO reasonable.
It is about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Cairns but it saved us so much money it was well worth the walk.

I thoroughly recommend

We do appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and thank you for your comments and feedback.
We do everything we can to ensure our guests have the best stay possible at Grosvenor in Cairns but occasionally things do go wrong or break down and when they do, it's our job to rectify the situation as soon as possible and with the least disruption to our guests. Guests can get by for a day or so if the DVD player etc stops working but in Cairns A/C is a must at most times of the year and unfortunately they do sometimes stop working and require a repair that may not be available until the next day. If we can move guests to another nearby apartment with little trouble that's what we will always do (we would NEVER tell a guest just to put up with it until it was fixed as some guest have told us at other apartment complexes). Just in case we can't move guests, we have recently purchased two portable A/C units that we can place in an apartment for temporary use.
We also always try to be flexible and help guests out with special requests such as luggage storage and late check outs or early check ins whenever possible. We live on-site so we are usually always available to assist. Again, thank you for your kind comments and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us - Brian and Anne (on-site managers).

We stayed in the Grosvenor in July for three nights. We had a two bedroom apartment which had everything you could possiby need. The reception staff were very helpful, and aided and abetted by a delightful spaniel, lots of tail wagging but no barking. We were allowed a late check out at no cost which was great. We enjoyed our weekend and, given the opportunity, we would stay there again.

Thank you Hilary for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your comments and are really pleased you enjoyed your accommodation so much, indeed your short holiday in Cairns. 'Jazz' (the tail wagging spaniel) gets very exited by new arrivals and just wants to get a pat from everyone. Although the 2 bedroom apartments do have "all you would need" we are continually seeking to improve and "add more" to them. We have recently purchased a quantity of bench top Halogen oven, rice cookers and electric Woks which we can make available to guests who request them (eventually they will be in every kitchen) - Brian and Anne (on-site managers)

This is a good place to stay.Rooms are spotless,quiet,plenty of undercover car parking,very helpful reception and tour desk.Check in was a breeze,and the lovely lady on reception had booked us on a few tours we wanted to do,all we had to do was relax and enjoy the visit.

We recently stayed six nights at the Grosvenor. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed-except to say that whenever we used the AC,a pump would come on and make a loud noise. We contacted management who did offer us another room,but by then we had settled into our room and we decided not to move.
We stopped using the AC 30-45 mins before we went to bed to give time for the pump to stop working and stop making the loud noise.
Also, the TV had really bad sound and after about 30mins, the noise became muffled and difficult to hear.

We had a mixed opinion about staying at the Grosvenor-it is close to a supermarket and takeaway places,but the noise from the AC and the tv meant we would not stay there again.
Also,if the wind was blowing in a certain direction it meant that planes were flying very low over the hotel as they were coming into land-again very noisy

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay at Grosvenor in Cairns and we are glad that you found the apartment spacious and containing everything you needed. The pump on the air-conditioner was found to be faulty and was replaced soon after you checked out. As soon as the problem was bought to our attention we made inquiries about having the pump replaced but found out that it would have to be ordered in and would take about a week to arrive so we offered to immediately move you to another ground floor apartment with a balcony and that we would move all you luggage etc across for you but you declined that offer. We have checked the TV and there appears to be nothing wrong with the sound. We have had 19 other guests stay in Apartment 102 since you departed and none have made any adverse comment in relation to the TV.
In relation to planes flying overhead; yes if the wind is blowing from the north planes landing at the airport do fly directly over the Cairns CBD on appooach to the airport and unless you are staying :out of town" then it will seem like they are flying straight over the top of you; believe me, it's noisier in some of the high rise hotels and apartment complexes closer to the airport but it only last a few seconds each time and does not happen at night.
Anne and I are sorry that your stay with us did not completely meet your expectations and would gladly have you stay with us again so that we can try to improve on our service to you the next time around - Brian and Anne (on-site managers)
