What a spot!!! Perfect location, perfect accommodation!!! So modern and comfortable with a fantastic kitchen. And to top it all off, the terrace apartments all have their own pool, perfect for getting out of the summer heat. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Just 1 tip.... it doesn't matter what floor you are staying on... LOCK YOUR DOORS!!! We had someone try to break in at 4am one morning.... young hoodlums!

We had the opportunity to enjoy four days at the beautiful Coconut Grove Resort in Port Douglas for our honeymoon. The resort is almost brand new and is perfectly located in the center of town. We were able to walk everywhere. The apartments were huge and we well equipped with Miele appliances - nice if you wanted to make a meal instead of venturing out to one of Port Douglas' restaurants. We ended up only making breakfasts because we wanted to explore the town. While the resort is a bit pricey, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside is their pool area, which was a bit in the shade during the time of year that we stayed there. We just walked down to the beach (about 1 block away) to enjoy the sun. We'd highly recommend it.

I was fortunate enough to spend a week in Port Douglas with my mother and sister in a three bedroom penthouse apartment in Coconut Grove in Port Douglas this November 2009. It is by no means cheap to stay here but 3 bedrooms, 2 levels, own swimming pool, dining areas on two balconies and 2 lovely bathrooms, the cost could easily be split between two couples. The only problem is deciding who gets the master suite with bigger bathroom! My Mum won in this case.
The location is perfect - right on the junction of Macrosson and Davidson Streets. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach, and far enough out of the hussle and bussle of Macrosson that it's peaceful and quiet. In fairness, we were there out of season so everywhere was peaceful and quiet.
The staffed reception area is open from 8am until 5pm daily and they are extremely friendly and helpful. Always smiling as we came and went and helped us with our bookings for daytrips, etc. I cannot fault the service at all.
If money isn't important and, like us, you enjoy the freedom of having your own kitchen (which is better equipped than my kitchen at home I might add) and bbq area as opposed to the restriction of a hotel room, then this place is perfect for you.
What an ideal holiday - perfect in every way. P.S - If you're a regular fine diner from Melbourne or Sydney and have high standards to match, please don't go the Port Douglas restaurants with high expectations. You'll pay a lot of money for very average food. They certainly try hard to impress though.

We stayed for ten nights with two young kids (7months and 2 years). We looked at other places before booking C Grove. The location is outstanding and the terrace apartments are perfect with young kids. The cost is high, but you don't need a hire car (unless you really want to explore the region, which we didn't) which saves cost, the BBQ is great meaning you are comfortable to stay in at night and still have a good time. We will be going back next year without doubt.

Coconut Grove Serviced Appartments was exactly what we were after to relax and recharge. The staff at the reception desk were incredibly helpful and were very happy to assist in booking transfers, recommend restaurants and booking tours. Its' location is very good- about 500m to the beach and is at the quiet end of the main street, but is across the road from Foodworks and next door the the walk up bottle shop. We didn't have or need a car while we were in Port, but there is undercover security parking if required.

We stayed in the Penthouse apartment and found it to be spotlessly clean and very stylishly decorated. We only used 1 of the 3 bedrooms, but all seemed to be of similar quality when peeking through the windows. Each room has a celing fan in addition to air conditioning. The bed was very comfortable.

There is a fully functioning kitchen and our package included a complementary bottle of Verve and a cheese/fruit platter which was delicious. The kitchen has a breakfast bat which seats up to 6 and there is an additional stable setting on the downstairs balcony. The lounge area had a flat screen TV a couple of chairs and a comfy sofa.

The main bedroom has a door leading onto the downstairs balcony and a small table and chair. Looking out over the balcony, you can see the downstairs apartment's private plunge pool and spa. You can kind of see the street, but it is well set back, which means there is much less noise that many of the other main street accommodation.

There is a walk in wardrobe with full length mirrors and dressing table which then leads into the main bathroom. There is a double sink and freestanding spa tub and wet shower and a toilet behind a frosted screen. The toiletries were L'Occitane which was a bit of a treat!

Upstairs is acessed via stairs just inside the front door of the apartment. At the top of the stairs is an outdoor kitchen set up with a bar fridge and BBQ- this is undercover. The terrace is on 3 levels. on the bottom level is an 8 seater setting and umbrella. The next level is the spa and the top level is the plunge pool and 2 lounge chairs. Although there is no shade up there, the umbrella is on a stand and can be moved to where ever you want it, which worked perfectly for us. The pool and spa are the same temperatures and are not as hot as you would have further south, but I think it would be too hot to have it heated anyway. The terrace is fairly private, it is possible for the apartments either side to poke their heads around the corner and see in.

There was also a public lap pool which was freezing cold but refreshing! While we were there, it did not seem to get much sun...

All in all, we could not fault Coconut Grove, it would be one of the best place we have stayed in QLD.

We stayed at Coconut Grove for 5 nights in a balcony apartment. The apartments are absolutely beautiful. Modern, clean, and spacious. We only used 2 bedrooms but had the option to use the third bedroom at no extra charge. Our apartment had a large outdoor balcony with our own bbq and a lovely view of the mountains. The location is also hard to beat - a couple of minutes to the beach and the same to the shops.

Staff were fantastic and when we arrived there was a welcome gift in the fridge - a platter with cheese, fruit and chocolate. It's the extra things like this that make a difference.

The unusual design relates to the way the balcony apartments overlook the terrace apartment pools! We could look directly into three pool/spa areas. Whilst this was not a problem when we were there - we only saw one person use their pool in the whole five days - this could be an issue when the apartments are full. It could be very noisy for us and not very private for them.

As we didn't book the apartments with their own pool (these are expensive) we were hoping to use the main pool on the ground floor. Lovely area again with another BBQ area - however, the pool & spa were not heated and very very cold even though it was 28 degrees every day we were in Port Douglas! This was extremely disappointing as they had just spent 5 days in Palm Cove swimming every day. When I spoke to the manager about this he did say that they were in the process of getting quotes to have heating installed. Hopefully next time!!

Yes, I would definitely stay again, if the pool was heated and the price was right.

We've been travelling to Port Douglas every year for the last 5 years and this place was perfect! Luxury all the way, spacious living areas, beautiful bathrooms, awesome rooftop plunge pool and spa, luxurious L'Occitane products, all the creature comforts of home with all that Port Douglas has to offer right on your doorstep! Ultimate privacy with your own deck chairs and pool. Two penthouses to choose from, ours was a roof top but also another penthouse on the mezzanine level with covered lounging areas (we'd book this for the wet season). Aircon was loud, but we kept the windows open and slept better! I don't think you could find better than this so close to town and with all the luxury and creature comforts. Thumbs up for us - best in Port!
