After being collected by our tour guide Ben in a comfortable minivan - it even had appropriate look alike timber flooring!! from our accommodation, we spent a fantastic day. Our first stop was at Mossman Gorge where we were able to follow the boardwalks through the rain forest to the river, We continued our journey further into the Daintree World Heritage Rainforest, crossing the Daintree River by ferry, stopping at Alexandra Lookout for breathtaking views and continuing on to Cape Tribulation where we able to walk through the forest to the beach. Morning tea was provided beachside, then our journey continued to Cooper Creek where we boarded a 45 minute boat trip and with our expert crocodile spotter at the helm, we criss-crossed the creek hoping to see a croc or two along the way. While we saw various birdlife, mangroves, and more views of the rainforest, and with time running out for our return, we thought we were going to miss out - but barely visible under the mangroves, the experienced eye of our guide was able to show us a female croc and guided the boat around so everyone could take photos - even though it made us back late to continue on with the day. Lunch followed at a local outdoor restaurant, a stop at Tropical Fruit Icecream shop, return ferry trip over the Daintree River. Ben gave a very informative commentary all day, chatted to everyone throughout the day, was happy to answer questions and it even made his day when a rarely seen cassowary caused a traffic jam! Very enjoyable day and worthwhile trip.
