Dinner
We booked a table for 730pm and were told that it was first in best dressed for the tables along the front, which we found a bit unusual (usually it's first reservation, best dressed). However having a table back from the front didn't really detract from the experience.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. They just made you feel at home.

The food was excellent. I had duck gnocci, my partner had pork belly. Both were excellent. Wines by the glass were good.

Definitely come here for one night of your stay!

Breakfast
The continental breakfast is a little on the pricey side at $27 (add a hot breakfast item for $6), but it was a really great selection - Bircher muesli, amazing fruit, yoghurt, heaps of bakery items and ham and cheese.

Plus the view is just beautiful!

Bar
The bar off to the side has a different name to the restaurant but worth mentioning. Such a nice place to sit and drink. The coconut cocktails literally are just a coconut with a hole drilled and some sort of alcohol added. We didn't really like the taste. Nonetheless a lovely place to sit and drink!

My partner and I ate here for dinner and the views were magnificent, ambience was lovely (apart for the mosquitos) and the food overall was above average.
We had the squid as an entree which was average and I had the barramudi which was quite nice. However, My partner had the veal medallions which was cooked to perfection! The sauce and veges went well with the dish and the veal was cooked beautifully. He practically licked the plate!! A definite recommendation!

Lunches here had always been a really special treat but we had never experienced dinner. Let me tell you then that dining at Ospreys, Thala Beach Restaurant at night is seldom-found pleasure. It is also a privilege. For what an amazing thing to be able to sit in true comfort high above the Coral Sea with the balmy warm tropical breeze cooling you while you eat excellent food. The courage and vision the creators of Thala must have had to build this wonderful resort and restaurant in this isolated and difficult location where others would have walked away or built more of the same ordinariness we see in Cairns and Port Douglas - they are to be praised. The wait staff are terrific - helpful, friendly and actually look as though they enjoy serving people in this glorious setting. The food we had - 9 different dishes - all of them were so delicious. The chef, apart from obviously being a skilled "technician", is also an adept artist. Excellent menu. I must make mention of the lighting. Here the lighting is perfectly set to provide both mood and enough table illumination. This evening was very very special. Thank you ALL at Thala.

After arriving at this resort for a luncheon we found it really beautiful and the welcome exceptional.

The restaurant was in the most beautiful setting and we couldn't have had more helpful and friendly service. Unfortunately the menu was disappointing and the food definitely not up to the place itself. We also thought the wine list dated and over priced. Wouldn't return and couldn't recommend this place because of the food and drinks.
