Stayed for a week in a ground floor room ,the room it self was good and although it faced the car park this in itself was alright as we could park close to our unit during the day at night it was a different story as there is not enough parks for everyone and if your not back by about 6pm you could be out by the road, The resort itself is good the pool and surrounding tree cover is a winner, We never really intended eating here but with the pool so handy and the food was reasonably priced and quite relaxing eating by the pool we dined here twice for lunch and dinner it also saved going all the way into town. Got a great deal booking direct with owners and would consider staying again at that price but did find the bed a bit like sleeping on a rock would be interested to see if they are all like this, all and all enjoyable stay.

My husband and I spent 7 nights at Ramada resort. Our unit was lovely. Very roomy, clean and quiet. Our room was away from the middle so not near the restaurant and pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

We stayed in the one bedroom apt. This was great especially with the kids. The pool was awesome and only short walk to the beach. Close to town centre and great market in the weekends to get fruit n veg

I recently stayed a week in a hotel room at this beautiful resort. If you want to get away and have a relaxing holiday complete with tropical pool with it's own waterfall then I highly recommend this place. Walking into the open air reception to check in sets the tone for the rest of the resort. Casual, relaxed and tranquil. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and gave heaps of pointers on what to do while in town and also some tips to help me save some money. It was a pity the heating for the pool wasn't working as, although the weather was beautiful, the water temperature really made it unpleasant to go for a swim. Also, the hotel room I stayed in had a slight musty smell. probably due to the high humidity of the region so I'm not sure if anything can be done about that. The resort does clearly advertise that the hotel rooms only come with coffee making facilities but they could consider including a toaster or small microwave so you could at least make some toast and tea in the morning. Even business motels offer that option in their rooms. Other than these few minor things, I was very impressed with this resort and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. It is a little out from the main strip but there are regular shuttle buses so you can get down to the main area, or rental bicycles for the more adventurous. I am planning a return trip and this time taking some friends to join me.

Room Tip: If you want to prepare your own rooms, go for a one or two bedroom rather than a hotel room.

Dear guest

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding your recent stay here at Ramada Port Douglas. We greatly appreciate your comments, as they help us in our effort to continually improve our level of service.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience that you encountered during your stay when the pool heating was not working. We did have a maintenance issue for a number of days at that time which meant that it wasn't working. It is now rectified and the pool is again at a balmy 28 degrees.

I want you to know how much we appreciate your visit to the resort, and how much we value you as a guest. Thank you again for your comments and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to Ramada Port Douglas.

Sincerely,
Jo Croft

The resort is great. It is situated about 3 minutes drive just before Port Douglas city centre. We hired a car from Cairns airport, which makes life very easy.
The entrance is open and well maintained. There are no porters, so expect to move your own things. The staff are friendly though and make you feel welcome. The grounds a very leafy as it has a tropical setting where there is a very large canopy of trees. There is a nice pool out the back, along with the restaurant. A river also runs through the middle of the resort; man made of course. It's really well done.
Now the rooms may not be the same, as we are Wyndham Worldmark members. Nevertheless, the rooms are clean, modern and spacious. We stayed in a one bedroom deluxe. It had a safe for security, which you expect these days. We also had modern furniture and plantation shutter blinds.
There is free wifi down at the pool/restaurant, as in room wifi is charged to you account. Speaking of the pool, the area is kid friendly (we don't have any, but others had plenty).
The restaurant is great, see my other review on it.
I must admit, there is nothing to complain about.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pool if you don't like too much noise.

We recently stayed 8 days at this resort. It was a pleasant stay too!!
The walk in to the pool and accommodation area is extremely beautiful. There are several areas downstairs to relax in. The food was extremely well done and not overpriced, but I would have liked a smaller and cheaper breakfast option. Drinks were value for money.
Our room was one of the budget rooms and was damp smelling, although this is to be expected in the tropics. We were woken at 4.11am by someone showering in an adjacent room, but it did not worry us; other travellers might not like this though! We were able to access the free wifi from our room (D348).

The staff were extremely helpful in all areas, from cancelling a trip bought too quickly (an expensive shuttle trip in to Cairns) to arranging tours.
The beautiful pool however was too cold for us to swim in which was a disappointment, and would be a factor in determining whether or not we returned.
As I suffer from a recent DVT/PE I would have appreciated a room closer to the lifts; as it was our room could not have been further from the lifts and on the third floor. However, we did not push the issue on check-in and a closer option was not offered although staff were made aware of my health problem.

However, we enjoyed our stay here and would like to return when the pool is warmer!!

Room Tip: Dryandra 348 can access the free wifi if this is important to you. But a good walk from lifts.

We stayed 3 nights in a privately owned room. The resort is a bit if a drive out of town. The beach is a short walk through a residential court at the back of the hotel. The pool area is what makes the hotel, the buildings are in a rectangle and the pool and beautiful garden area where the decks run between the different room section are all in the centre of the rectangle. Outside this there are no more outside areas of the hotel just the parking. Other reviews are right the parking fills up in the evening so if you drive out to diner you have to park on the grassed area on the side of the road, it was a short walk in to our room so didn't really worry us. The deck area and chairs around the pool was ample room while we were there, not too full. Its a beautiful oasis amongst the buildings, the only thing I didn't like was all the lounges are in lye down position and the backs aren't adjustable to sit up which was really annoying. The room we had was nice and well stocked for breakfast in the room and tea and coffee. The rooms are a little dated in the bathroom but big and clean, the bedroom/living area was also very spacious, plenty of room to have the food out couch opened up too. The only issue with our room there were no fly screens so you couldn't leave windows open for air. We got a great price for the room through stayz.
