“An oasis in the centre of port Douglas.”
Reviewed 22 July 2013 via mobile

Fantastic location right in the centre of shops & restaurants so can walk pretty much everywhere local. Had a spa unit with private balcony and recommend as best option. Enjoyed a lovely 10 days here. Lovely pools & landscaping & own bbq or shared one in pool area with just a few recommendations to improve to excellence:
- need dishwasher in room
- kitchen space a little bit small
- wifi outsourced was too expensive (however free Internet available on pcs in reception)
- would be good if a few more basics were provided eg pepper salt sugar as not something you want to buy for a few days or week

Not big things, would stay here again for sure.

Located right in the middle of Macrossan Street, metres to Coles Supermarket, Cafes and restaurants. Apartments are a little tired but location makes up for it.
This is not 5 star, but a nice place to escape to during winter.
It is the closest apartment block to the main street, so is not a resort, but does have a large pool which is clean and well maintained with barbeque area.
Car park is convenient with lift access and free!
Staff friendly and obliging.

Myself and my family stayed here for 7 nights. We had swim out rooms and found the location perfect, the rooms beautiful, staff friendly and it was so tranquil! We walked straight onto macrossan street from the hotel and as we were at the heart of port we had everything at our fingertips. We swam every day and loved the pool, our room had its own bbq on the deck and we had another deck surrounded by gorgeous tropical plants, we found no flaws during our stay.

This was a great location on the main street of Port Douglas. Walk to everything. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment that looked over macrossin st. the apartment had a share laundry with the apartment next door but this was not a problem as no one was there. The kitchenette was suitable but we didn't use as there are so many restaurants to choose from on your door step. while we were directly on Macrossin St we did not encounter any noise problems. There was a large covered verandah with lounges and ceiling fan so it was quite pleasant to sit outside. The pool area is great with 2 different pools and a number of pool lounges. The only problem was that the water was ice cold and not suitable for swimming in. Our welcome letter indicated that one of the pools was heated but staff advised none were heated. In summer this would not be a problem but in May & June it would have been nice to have at least the chill taken off the water. Most of the reception staff were helpful and pleasant. As the hotel runs between 2 streets with the reception being on Warner St, check first were your room is located. If it faces Macrossin St you are better off parking on Macrossin and unloading your luggage before using the hotel car park. There is no direct access from the car park and many stairs to negotiate until you come to the Macrossin st units. Problems encountered were the king bed was only 2 singles pushed together and so there was ridge down the middle of the bed. the fridge in the room was very noisy and we had to turn off each night for some quiet. The bath while very big and inviting, it was nearly impossible to climb into. The sides of the bath were at least 2 feet high and you had to try and climb over this to get into the bath/shower. Add in the metal framework for the shower screen and it was quite dangerous. Having a laundry plug for a bath plug doesn't work. I would recommend this place due it's location, pool area and the rooms.

Room Tip: check where your room is before you unpack the car

Hi Helen P.

Thanks you for your feedback on your stay with us here at Mantra Heritage.
I am happy to hear that you found our central location suited your holiday.

We do indeed have a solar heated swimming pool , I am sorry that you were given the incorrect information regarding this. This is certainly a drawcard during the winter months !
All 'zip' king size beds do have the zip in the middle so please advise if you would prefer a queen size bed without the zip for your next visit.
We also have units that have a true shower , as opposed to the shower in the bath , so we can offer the most suitable style upon request as well.

We look forward to welcoming you back in Port Douglas again sometime soon.

Regards , Peter

The hotel offers a very convenient location to the major restaurants, bars and shops, yet maintains a quiet setting due to its design. The room was clean with small kitchenette amply stocked. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I would consider this a,place between a resort and hotel.

Room Tip: Do get a swim out room.

We had a great 2 night stay, our room had two outlooks, one over the pool and the other looked over the street! The pool is lovely, the setting very tropical. Our room was a good size and had all the amenities including a laundry. The location is great, handy to all shops, supermarkets and restaurants - just park your car and everything is in walking distance! I would have given it a 5 star rating but my only gripe is the stairs!! If your room is not accessed by the elevator the stairs are a pain to carry your bags up and down.. We actually helped two elderly ladies carry their bags one afternoon, and of course they were exceptionally grateful. Other than that, great hotel and we will definitely stay again.

Had a wonderful stay in a 2 bedroom suite. Rooms were clean and tidy the kids loved the pool. What really topped the stay was the great service from all the staff, we ended up having to leave a few days earlier to cairns and Peter the manager was fantastic in assisting us with accomodation there. Will definety stay at the heritage next time were back.
