Everything the bigger resorts have but in a smaller package. Buffet breakfast by the pool was included or you could order from the Hi tide cafe at extra cost of course. We ate at the cafe for lunch & dinner a number of times during our stay & the food was always fresh & delicious. Our rooms were very clean, had a small 2 burner cooktop - which we didn't use at all, a good size fridge & a microwave. Don't be tempted to shop at the Foodworks s'market it is very expensive ... it is worth the walk to the Coles s'market where prices are reasonable. While we were in PD we visited a number of other accom places in the town to check them out & Peninsula was by far the cleanest & best kept. The staff were very friendly & helpful & Jeremy the bar manager made great coffee & cocktails. The hotel is more a couples hotel not designed for families. It was a very relaxing stay and we would return to stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the beach have a great view but if there is an onshore breeze the balconies can ge...

Dear katorcaz,
The title of your review gives us a clue of what sort of stay you had with us - and makes us smile! An observant and complimentary review - thank you so much.
We are proud of our on-site restaurant - Hi Tide - and believe that with a great stay should also come great food and drinks! We have passed your comments on to Jeremy and all of his team and they were so pleased. Our Chefs has designed ever-changing menus and theme nights so you don't get presented with the same ho-hum menu each night as other Hotel restaurants fall into the trap of. Perhaps enjoy Seafood Night on Tuesdays? What about our famous Curry Night towers on Wednesdays? Fresh, local, panfried fish for just $20 on Sundays? (a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon in the tropics!), delicious Tasmanian grain fed 200gm Eye fillets topped with fresh prawns or scallops drizzled in creamy sauces on "Surf and Turf" night on Fridays? The choice is yours! (As you point out, best teamed with a favourite cocktail or Lavazza coffee to finish of course!)
Kind Regards

After travelling from UK, the friendly staff and super suite was just what we needed to relax into Queensland life. With the Four Mile beach just yards away (excellent for my sunrise jogging runs) and the main street just a few hundred metres away (excellent for my wife's shopping!) this hotel is in a super position to access all ameneties without needing a car. The staff give helpful advice on all the tours and excursions and can book them all for you. Breakfast by the pool is wonderfully relaxing, and the Hi Tide restaurant is excellent for watching the world go by (ie nosing at passers by!) We will definately go back there when we next visit Port Douglas.

Room Tip: Those suites facing the beach on the ground floor have direct access (accross a minor lane) to the b...

Dear Michael G,
We do tell try and spread the word that Port Douglas has something for everyone - whether it is 4 miles of a long white, sandy beach with the azure Coral Sea lapping its shore or a vibrant shopping precinct full of local art, fashion and great food. Certainly seems that yourself and your wife got to enjoy a taste of what living in tropical north Queensland is about. There is something magical about sitting on your verandah of your Oceanview Suite with a cup of plunger coffee in hand and watching the glorious sun or moon rises over the ocean. Time to breathe, relax and lap up Port Douglas!

Just enjoyed our 2nd stay at Peninsula in July. Thanks to the management and staff for helping to make our stay so wonderful. Great location overlooking the beach, short walk to town and restaurants, comfy rooms, yummy breakfast by the pool each morning, and staff are very helpful with organizing tours etc. We felt thoroughly spoilt, and really didn't want to leave. Would definitely recommend as a perfect kid free and peaceful place to enjoy your stay in Port. Looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are great

It is hard for us to not be proud to read reviews such as yours. One of the ultimate compliments would be that you have enjoyed your second stay with us as much (if not more) than your first. We take that as a sign that we are maintaining all the service and offerings to the high standard we are known for and sincerely love to offer.
Cant wait to look after you for your third stay! ( We also hope your Tripadvisor name is being achieved :) )

My wife decided to take me to Port Douglas for 5 days as part of my 70th Birthday celebrations. A friend of hers had recommended this hotel so she decided to give it a try. Thank goodness she did as we had a wonderful time. The staff were so friendly and we were welcomed by Jeremy who took us to our room and explained all the features and how things worked. Holly was one of the staff who looked after us over and above the call of duty and the food was to die for. I had the best steak I have ever eaten and cooked just as requested not to mention other meals and a buffet breakfast that included everything you could wish for. The location is ideal across the street from the beach and a short stroll to the main street. Our room faced the ocean and was all you could ask for in comfort and convenience. This is the place to stay if going to Port Douglas.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the ocean

Dear cabbage08,
Happy Birthday again from all of us here in Tropical North Queensland!
Your review highlights exactly what we try and achieve - a friendly welcome, helpful staff, great food, idyllic location and that you felt spoilt and relaxed when you returned.
We do rely on our guests going home with beautiful pictures of the village, reef and rainforest and to share their stories of Port Douglas. We think it is paradise though may be a little bias!
Thank you cabbage08 - it was a pleasure to look after you.
Kind Regards

Friendly staff, lovely laid back atmosphere. and child free! Friendly greeting and mini tour of the h hotel and facilities on arrival. This hotel is in a great location, across from the beach a few minutes walk to the main street. Brekky buffet was not great but then I do prefer an freshly cooked one, the water in the urn was luke warm, no use for making tea! Keep that urn on the boil! Good range of cocktails at happy hour and HI-Tide does great food. The ocean suite was clean, comfortable and serviced daily and was well stocked with a range of teas and coffees.

Dear elainedillillibahQLD,
A really lovely review - thank you. We are often complimented that as it is a child-free hotel, that adults really can unwind around the pools, spas, jacuzzis and also dine in a peaceful environment.
I can only assume that you caught the urn immediately after a top up for your cup of tea - the urn does take a minute to come back up to boiling...perhaps a nice minute to decide what you will be enjoying from the full hot and cold buffet this morning? Toast, cereals, tropical fruits, range of juices, pastries, yoghurts, all the delicious hot foods including bacon, eggs, cheese sausages, mushrooms, hash browns, baked beans, grilled tomatoes etc etc. If there is something that you would like us to prepare for you - just ask! Our chefs are always on hand and eager to supply you with anything variation of these you would like. We do hope you took advantage of this.
So pleased you stayed with us and really do hope you visit us again soon.
Kind Regards

Helpful staff, a good spot though a short walk out of town (you'd have to be a little lazy for that to be an issue though). Only criticism I have would probably apply to most other resort accommodation in Australia - what is this obsession with charging for internet access?? If they don't need to charge in Estonia or Russia, perhaps in Australia we could stop gouging tourists for such a basic service?

Dear John A,
Thank you for your frank and honest review and for your compliments regarding the staff.
We are actually located at the quiet end of Port Douglas's main street (Macrossan) so are located at the closest spot to town as we can be whilst also having the only Hotel with Coral Sea views. As other reviews note, we couldn't be better located!
All stays do currently include 2 hours of free WIFI but we are proud to announce that from April1, 2013, all stays will include full complimentary WIFI for the whole duration of your stay. As you note, most Hotels in Australia do need to charge a nominal fee (often related to existing contracts for the network). As these contracts expire, it now becomes more affordable for Hotels to offer this service. The internet world was a different place 2 years ago!
So hopefully John A, on your next visit with us, you can type away compliments of us!
Kind Regards
