We stayed only three days of a 10 day holiday here but really enjoyed it. The husband has mobility problems at the moment and this was taken care of, as requested, by giving us a room close to reception and opposite the pool entrance. I wondered whether this would be noisy, but wasn't. We had a lovely outlook to the beach opposite. The bed was very comfortable and it was lovely to have a full size refrigerator available. Not particularly enamoured of the coffee machine in the room, though, which was disappointing as we love our coffee! We had lovely fluffy towels and access for the husband was good.

I loved being able to use the lap pool, which at first felt a little odd while people were eating their breakfast but then I decided, why not?! Loved all the little nooks and crannies in the pool, lying underneath the waterfall on the shaped "waterbeds" was fun (yes, I am a kid at heart!). I had looked for an adults only place to stay, being selfish enough not to want others children around me whilst I was relaxing and there wasn't a child in sight here. Beach towels were replenished often.

I thought breakfast every morning was excellent. I have read a review that said rubbery eggs and mushy mushrooms at 9.00am. I found that whatever time we breakfasted, the food was fresh, as they only seems to bring small amounts out at a time. Sometimes bringing these things to the attention of the wait staff would be helpful? I did find the pastries ran out very quickly, probably because they were delicious! I thought the coffee was reasonable and certainly better than that experienced at other hotel breakfast buffets! If you are so inclined, you can purchase your coffee from the bar inside.

We stayed over the Anzac weekend and ate at the restaurant on that night, which was excellent. Port Douglas seemed to do dinners well.

Overall, I would be more than happy to stay here again. Staff were lovely, very friendly and, by the way, there is undercover parking if you drive, as we did. Aahh, think I would like to be back there now!

Spent a week in an Ocean View room - and it was just that. Staff were very helpful throughout, especially booking tours and transfers for us. Superb location at the bottom of Macrossan St - the main drag and the beach was literally across the road. Comfortable and well apointed room with a nice balcony, enjoyable breakfasts by the pool. A quiet kid-free venue with a reasonable restaurant. Suggest they make information about local transport options (taxi, shuttle bus etc.) more readily available.

Room Tip: Ocean side is best

My wife and I always make an effort to get away for our wedding anniversary and this year was no exception, but a spate of cold weather at home saw us look further a field for options. Direct flights to Cairns and easy transfers to Port Douglas made this a good choice, and after an on-line search we elected to book at the Peninsula Hotel.

We certainly made the right choice, as the hotel has the most superb location right on Four Mile Beach, but also a very short stroll to the shopping and restaurant precinct on McRossan Street.

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and attentive staff member, with a cool drink and cold towel to refresh us before being taken to our room where the staff member took time to explain all that was important.

This was a feature of all of the staff at the hotel, and without exception every single person made us feel as though we were not only welcome, but special.

The hotel is superbly fitted out and our room was a revelation, roomy and comfortable with a spacious bathroom area as well as a kitchenette if needed and a lounge area with all the equipment needed. Our balcony, which had table and chairs and two comfortable lounges to sun ourselves on, opened to the spa area and then a short few steps down to the pool area.

The pool is superb, and we spent hours in it each day of our stay, as it is immaculately clean and allows both recreational swimming and lap swims which we both enjoy.

We enjoyed lunches by the pool, served by the restaurant and very well done, and each night enjoyed cocktails by the pool, again served by staff who appear to genuinely enjoy their work.

Breakfast was served each morning around the pool, and it was a very good quality buffet breakfast, again with staff being unobtrusive but still being alert to the needs of guests and offering every assistance they could.

The friendliness of all staff from owners down to staff cleaning our room, the location of the hotel and the atmosphere (and reality) of quality made our anniversary trip to Port Douglas a wonderful success. We even had an email form the owner of the hotel waiting for us on our return, thanking us for staying with them, and noting that it had been a pleasure to meet us!

We will be returning to Port Douglas again for next year's anniversary, and would not consider staying anywhere else when there. We cannot recommend the Peninsula Boutique Hotel highly enough and suggest if you are going to Port Douglas, this hotel should be your first choice.

Room Tip: Don't restrict yourself to wanting a room looking over the beach as those overlooking the pool p...

We had a wonderful week at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel. It is, as the name suggests, a small hotel however offers everything you need. It is quiet whilst being very close to the shopping and dining strip as well right near a beautiful long beach. The staff are friendly, efficient and informative which helps if you do not know the area. The hotel offers a lovely pool which sadly we did not get into on this visit. Breakfast is served at the pool side as well as cocktails from the bar which is very relaxing. We dined at the restaurant twice and found the food very good. The room itself was comfortable and pleasant and the mini kitchen meant if we felt like a night in with a simple meal we could do that too. Overall a lovely place to stay with easy access to everything on offer in Port Douglas. Special thanks to Jeila for your smiles and easy banter!

Room Tip: Most rooms have a great outlook but we loved being able to see the beach

Every time we visit see new improvements to the Hotel rooms an common areas. The new furnishings are modern and have brighten the place up.
We find the Peninsula a friendly place with very helpful staff under the guidance of Sheryn and Phil Blundstone.
The hotel is a beautiful quiet environment right opposite he 4 mile beach virtually right in town.
Its a great modern holiday place for couple very economically price for the high standard it keeps. So give it a try next time you visit northern Queensland you will not be disappointed

We loved our stay in Port Douglas at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel.
The people at the hotel were fantastic, friendly and informative.
As other reviews have said the location is excellent. Easy to walk into town.
The beach across the road is a wonderful walking beach. We did not swim
but saw the nets up for the stingers. One of the things that we loved at the
hotel is the washing machines and dryers. The breakfasts were more than
adequate. You can eat dinner too which we did a couple of times which was so
convenient and delicious.
We took two tours from there and the front desk people knew which tour we were taking
and when the pick up bus would be.
The flower arrangements in the hotel were beautiful. Here are a few photos.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the ocean

After 2 weeks touring Australia and staying at Hyatts and Four Seasons properties, we arrived at the Peninsula. After a full day of flying from Tasmania, Sheryn (owner) could not have been more welcoming. Our room overlooked the ocean and though not "luxurious" it was delightful; very comfortable, a huge well stocked bathroom with shower, tub plenty of towels, and a small table/chair equipped balcony. In addition to easy beach access there's a very nice small pool to refresh in after a day of snorkeling the reef or visiting the rainforest. There are self-service laundry facilities for guests and that saved us a ton of money compared to the hundreds we spent at the Hyatt. You can walk to town for restaurants. Breakfast was not "gourmet" but it was perfectly fine and re-stocked regularly. We ate one dinner at the restaurant and were very happy to have a good meal without going into town. Had we known the property was as relaxing as it is, we would have booked one or two extra nights for just R&R in Port Douglas. If we ever go back to Port Douglas we will do that!

Room Tip: Try for ocean view and if you're going to do laundry ask for the floor where the self-service ro...
