Thank you to Sheryn, Phil & the Team @ The Peninsular Boutique Hotel, Port Douglas. We had a very relaxing and luxurious stay with you. Fantastic food, great service and comfortable rooms with an amazing view of the sea. We really enjoyed staying with you in April. Would recommend to anyone, cannot fault a better location and great place to stay in Port Douglas.

Room Tip: Wonderful sea views in the heart of Port Douglas.... not a chain, but better for it - personal and l...

We were lucky enough to have 10 nights here and from the moment we arrived the welcoming couldn't have been better. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, our apartment #36 overlooked the pool so we always had something to look at. We had the sun virtually all day which was fabulous in June. Our apartment was very spacious, light and bright with a large spa bath and open shower which opened onto a separate balcony. Finishing touches like oil burner, nice toiletries all made our stay special. Breakfasts were all included and of a very high quality and the location couldn't have been better, cross the road to the beach one way and the other way you were in the main shopping street. I wouldn't hesitate to return again. Thanks for making our holiday great.

Location can't be beat - you're across the street from the beach. The rooms were airy and large - you can open up all the sliding doors to open up the bathroom to the bedroom to the living area (with couch, kitchen, and balcony). The pool is small but pretty and inviting. AND there are free washing machines and dryers, which really helped. The breakfast provided in the morning was plentiful, if not memorable (we had just stayed at a B&B in New Zealand that had a trained chef - and the breakfasts couldn't be compared). Shops and restaurants are within a 10 minute walk. We especially appreciated Amanda's cheerful hospitality and welcome, and Josh's friendly help. I would recommend a room with a balcony facing the beach.

We spent 5 very memorable days here in a beachfront suite and loved it. The room was lovely, clean, and had a comfy bed. Just a short walk out our patio door to the beach. The pool is fantastic with many different levels and areas to relax or swim, sit in the shade or sun. A nice continental breakfast was included with all the usual choices, several types of eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, cereals, fruits. Other choices are available from the restaurant. They really have ticked all the boxes here.

So to sum it up, start the day with a great breakfast, take a dip in the pool, lie on the beach, don't miss happy hour and dinner in the restaurant or served in your room, life is good! You don't have to leave the hotel unless you want to but all the shops and cafes are just a short stroll and no car is needed. The hosts are very friendly and attentive with great staff to look after you. Peaceful and quiet too as no young children are accepted. We love this place and can't wait for our next visit!

Room Tip: Beach side rooms get morning sun and afternoon breezes. Pool side rooms have afternoon sun and less...

As we entered the reception area we were welcomed by warm, friendly staff which set the tone for our 3 day visit .As has been said before this hotel is situated in a very convenient spot. Our apartment's balcony overlooked the four mile beach and was perfect for an early evening stroll before a drink in the bar. We appreciated the well equipped laundry room, being on a long trip and loved sitting out for the pleasant buffet breakfast .We had one meal in the hotel which did not disappoint but were given generous help to find other eating places which were near by. There were some problems with our pre organised trips and the staff could not have been more helpful in sorting these out for us; in fact, we wished that we had waited until arriving because they could have arranged more locally based trips for us. Our apartment was well equipped but not luxurious .I would recommend this hotel highly if you like a relaxed ,friendly environment

We recently stayed at this hotel, advertised as a boutique luxury hotel and priced accordingly at $400 per night. The location was excellent - beachfront and an easy stroll from shops and restaurants, but this was really the only redeeming feature. The rooms were adequate but the dishwasher did not work and we were berated by housekeeping for placing dishes in there . We had not been informed it was not functional. Since the weather was not good we had taken some Bluray DVD's with us - no Bluray player. We were allocated two coffee capsules a day and were expected to purchase any additional capsules required. Towels and bathrobes provided were obviously well loved and very thin. Breakfast was included and was adequate although staff were slow to replenish empty dishes.
As you can see, we were very disappointed and would not class this establishment as a luxury hotel. We have travelled extensively both domestically and overseas so have experience in rating our stay. For $400 a night, I feel you can get much better value for money in Port.

Room Tip: Check other establishments as I think you can do much better.

Dear Bsquared14,
Firstly, we would like to thank you for the time you took to review your recent stay with us - good or constructive, we really appreciate all the feedback we get.
We feel perhaps you were a little harsh with your review but it always gives us a chance to see if there is anything we can improve with.
A few points we'd love to address to the reading audience - one of our inclusions in each Suite is a DVD player with a help-yourself complimentary library of DVDs. I can personally say that with all the national and international travelling I too have enjoyed, I rarely come across a Hotel that even offers a DVD player (usually they are the purchase-a-movie option) and never once have I encountered a Bluray player as standard. A quick phonecall could have clarified this for you. Regardless, we hope you found a DVD in our collection you enjoyed.
We cook our complimentary hot buffet in regular small batches which keeps it fresh and hot instead of sitting to sweat in a chafing dish to overcook and dry out.If one hot item is out literally momentarily, there is another 9 hot items to choose from in addition to an entire continental buffet. To keep our buffet fresh from the kitchen, we do not apologize. Our guests are generally in "Port Douglas time" and dont mind waiting minute for delicious hot food.
Another comment also intrigues. Each Suite comes with an espresso machine and complimentary pods each day. In addition to this, there is complimentary instant coffee and, if you prefer plunger coffee, you can purchase it as part of your mini-bar. We have trouble comprehending how you arent happy with FREE daily espresso pods? (I have also never encounted this in other Hotels as a standard item in every room).
So Bsquared14 - we are really sorry there were aspects of your stay that you werent happy with and we will certainly gleam any other feedback from your review to help us strive to be the best valued, best located and highest quality of service found anywhere in Port Douglas.
Kind Regards,
The Peninsula Boutique Hotel Staff Management and Staff

This place hard to beat - opposite beautiful clean sandy beach. We stayed 5 nights as part of a long busy holiday, and picked this place hoping for a break for a few days in a hectic schedule. Couldn't have found a better place to recharge our batteries, beautiful mini suite, spacious, spotless and tastefully decorated. Public areas in hotel lovely, breakfasts very nice, buffet style but hot food replenished frequently so always fresh. Had dinner several evenings and never disappointed. Staff without exception helpful and friendly, good advice on activities/transport etc readily available at reception.
If you want to eat out loads of nice resturants/bar etc just five mins away.
Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ocean view nice, roomy balcony to enjoy your sun downer!
