Great atmosphere around the pool and BBQ area, however the beds were all a bit small and we had 3 people - the bathroom is combined - so no seperate toilet (struggle when someone is having a shower!). The lady on reception was very helpful and friendly though. Would recommend for budget conscious, however a little walk to "town" so not great if you having a night out drinking as it's a big stumble home!

Dear Kiwi-Hels, We're so glad you enjoyed the relaxed ambiance at the Reef Club and hope you'll come back soon. We wish we'd mentioned the local shuttle for those late nights in town. Although it takes less than 10mins to wander in or out of town the local shuttle runs every 15mins and is $3 and drops you right to the Reef Club door. I should also mention all our beds are standard single, queen or king size - thankfully no doubles ! Happy Travels from the Reef Club Crew !

I live locally in Cairns and chose to do a short get away to Port Douglas for a few days. I found a great rate of about $60AU a night online for a one bedroom apartment at the Reef Club Resort and was very impressed with the whole experience. The room I stayed in was pretty much what you seen in the pictures on the website although it looked a bit more glamourous on the website (as they always do). My room was in the rear block and was nothing flash but it was clean and had very basic cooking facilities. I think that for the price I paid I couldn't go wrong so my expectations weren't huge but at the same time I certainly wasn't disappointed. The room was very quiet and the balcony overlooked the malleluca trees, garden and the swimming pool. I think some of the rooms are privately owned so they may be decorated slightly differently. I also think some of the rooms had permanent residents staying in them as well but when I was there I never really saw anyone and had the pool to myslef most of the time. It is a short 5 minute walk to the beach and about a 20 minute walk into the main town. Overall, if you pay what I paid, you can't go wrong :)

Room Tip: Rooms in the rear block overlooking the garden, trees and pool are very private and quiet

Dear Jubee, We're delighted you enjoyed your time at the Reef Club and with your home in Cairns being just an hour's drive - we'd love to welcome you back soon. Your rate was a pretty amazing deal and not reflective of our normal rates - but we like to offer great promotions year round so keep an eye out. You are correct - The units are all privately owned, and while yours was a good value basic room - many have been recently refurbished wiht fabulous facilites and serene mediteranean decor which you might like to try next time. Happy Travels from the Reef Club Crew !

I spent hours trawling through Trip Advisor before our recent trip to Pt Douglas. Decided Reef Club seemed to offer best value for money given proximity to the beach and main street (essential if you want a good Pt D experience). The $200 rebate on tours per room tipped the scales in their favour but I was still a touch anxious about how it would be. Turned out to be great - just make sure you ask for a room towards the back and preferably overlooking the vacant block as those rooms are nice and sunny. ( we were in room 47). Pool is nothing special but we preferred to be at the beach anyway. Loved the fact that we could save $$$ by cooking in our own rooms and using the BBQ although the knives in our room (and others we spoke to) were so blunt you couldn't really use them. Had to use our pocket knife and others went and bought some down the main street. Seems a bit of a pity not to supply proper cutting knives but a minor point in the overall scheme of things. Staff very helpful - one other suggestion would be to put better self closing mechanisms on the main door as they bang shut leaving very loud sounds at all hours of the day and night.
If you want resort facilities, do not stay here. If you want great value for money with clean comfortable, well equipped rooms (except for the knives!!) stay here and spend you savings on the many attractions around Pt D. Final note, we have travelled the world and are quite particular. You can't go past this place for value.

Room Tip: Ask for a room towards the back, not facing the pool /BBQ but rather facing the vacant block (which...

Dear Annabearmmelbourne, Thanks for your great feedback and we are so sorry about the knife situation. We've fixed that up this week with new knives to all rooms so guests can enjoy cooking up a tropical feast in their rooms like Masterchefs ! Also on our shopping spree was new door closers which have been fitted to 10 rooms so far to ensure a restful nights sleep at the Reef Club. We love to welcome your family back to enjoy those changes. By the way - love your glowy picture of the reef club entrance at night. Happy Travels from the Reef Club Crew !

We recently stayed at the Reef Club for a week with our young daughter. We were very happy with the 2 bedroom ground floor apartment. The accommodation provided everything we needed and was great value for money - would highly recommend for those travelling with small children. The apartment is serviced mid way through the week, which is better than at most self catering accommodation.

The Reef Club is located walking distance from both Macrossan St and Four Mile Beach - although we did rent a car and used it most days to purchase groceries and go on day trips etc.

Only low points for us were a bit of excess noise in hallways etc. from other inconsiderate guests - perhaps some reminder signs would help. Also, the pool is not heated, probably not an issue most of the year, but would be wonderful in June/July. But in general, the pool/garden/bbq area is lovely.

We had a great time and will definitely return.

Dear Poppy033 - we love reading that you plan to return to the Reef Club - and just wanted to let you know that although the pool isn't heated ; the adjoining spa iswarmer than the pool - which is great year round. Also we have 24 hour on site management - so a quick call on the inhouse phone to the manager can normally take care of any naughty noisy late night revellers. We definately want you to have a great night's sleep on your holiday. We look forward to welcoming your family back soon. Happy Travels from the Reef Club Crew !

Stayed for a week in a 2 bed unit ground floor by the pool - tropical plants all around made the unit and patio private. Loved staff, location, pool - 2 mins thru to beach - 10 min walk to centre - or (we found it regular) bus across road every 15 mins - good to catch back after long seafood dinners in centre - recommend 2Fish and Bel Cibo.
Unit had everything we wanted - refurbished, fab looking out thru shutters in main bed through greenery to pool - great tuscan feel - clean with everything we needed - and bed excellent. Flat screen TV good size for area - not that it was on much. Our unit was in back group on beachside and was quiet awau from street front.
Used BBQ area one night - great set-up. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay - great value and accommodation. We'll be back!

Stayed 3 night after staying at one of the Mantra's in town. Much better feel to it, great garden, great pool (not massive though), the place actually gets cleaned (unlike the Mantra) and has a great relaxed feel to it. Short stroll to the beach and into town. Rooms a little dated, but that seems standard in Port Douglas. We had a 1 bedroom for $115/night and think that was awesome value! Would come back in a heartbeat!

We have just had a fantastic stay in Port Douglas, and one of the reasons it was so good was Reef Club. The staff were truly fantastic - helped out with all our tour bookings, made great suggestions, were always friendly and interested.

The complex (not really a 'resort' you need to pay a lot more for one of those) is very nicely done in Mediterranean style, our apartment was lovely - simple but well done, with very comfy bed and pillows. I slept very well, which is not easy for me when I travel.

The pool and garden area was lovely, and often I had it to myself in the mornings or afternoons.

Great distance from town, definitely wouldn't want to be much further out, as it's lovely to be able walk to in for dinner. A lot of the big resorts are much further away, and you have to rely on buses. It's also only a couple of minutes walk from 4 mile beach.

And of course, really good value. I would definitely recommend it if you want something low key, with excellent service and contemporary style.
