We had a 4 night stay at the Meridian and found it very pleasant.
Diane done a wonderful job in welcoming us as new guest. All information have been given to make Port Douglas to a remarkable stay on our tour in Australia. All recommendations for dinner have been perfect (perfect Thai and very excellent Italian, maybe one of the best outside of Italy)
The hotel is in an ideal location 200m from 4 Mile Beach and 100m from the village centre - the apartment had all the facilities needed for a self catering stay, with a lovely pool and communal garden. Would definitely recommend!

This place was fun and super convenient for me and my friend during our travels. It was only a short walk away from the beach, marina, and Main Street. There is also a local shuttle just across the street which will take you anywhere in town. John, the man we met upon arrival was very helpful with tour booking and area information, in addition to being very funny and pleasant to chat with.

Rooms were clean and had a beachy yet modern vibe to them and it was nice to have some kitchen appliances. There was also a grilling area by the pool that made for a delicious meal. It was equipped with some essentials like olive oil, salt , and pepper. Would definitely stay here again.

One thing to note, seems like most everyone is couples which is fine, but surprising at first.

We stayed 4 nights at this quaint apartment style hotel. Our room was nice, with a small kitchenette and dining table. We did get to see the one bedroom, and had we been offered a chance for an upgrade, we would have gladly done it. The one bedrooms are spacious and beautiful.
The check in was easy, but I was not impressed with John the manager. He was very lackadaisical, and was not available during all the posted operating hours. (He closes the front desk to go for swims in the pool.) There was not a lot of information forthcoming from him, and one got the impression it was a bother for him to help.
We had seen that the Wi-F was free, but when asked, we found out there was a charge.
I would recommend staying here if you have already done research on the area, or have daily excursions previously booked. This is not a high service hotel, but it is quaint and comfortable. The big bonus, is FREE laundry, but take your own detergent, as they charge for it at the front desk.

A very warm welcome, the service was excellent, rooms very large and great views, cleaned to a high standard, we opened the patio door sun lounge on decking and straight into the swimming pool, all in all we will defiantly go back. A big thank you to all the staff. The area was well in with walking distance.

My first comment has nothing to do with the apartments themselves but I was concerned when the shuttle bus driver didn’t know where the apartments were! Thought OMG are they that obscure that I’ve made a mistake in booking. Luckily totally unfounded and the shuttle bus driver must drive with his eyes closed (would add he told us he had been driving the route for 2 years!) as The Meridian is on the main road.

Arrived at about 6 pm, the door appeared to be locked with no-one around. Thought OMG again! Saw that there was a note with instructions to gain entry but did think that at 6 in the evening someone would be on duty.

After those two incidents everything else after that was great except there was no free wi-fi and the computer in the reception area didn’t work.

We stayed in a standard studio apartment (9B) for 4 nights which overlooked the swimming pool. It was as described on the website. Was modernly furnished to a very high standard, had microwave, kettle and ‘fridge, a small table and chairs which is enough for having a light meal. The bathroom was again to a high standard with lovely fluffy towels. Our apartment had a very small balcony just big enough to sit on to admire the pool area. There was a washing machine and tumble dryer to share between two apartments. I had decided to only book a studio apartment as we were going to be out for most of the time but on reflection wish I had booked a one bedroom apartment to enable us to chill out more after our days out. If ever there is a next time in Port Douglas that is what I would book.

The swimming pool area was lovely with chairs and sunbeds. There is a communal bbq area for the use of guests. You are supposed to use plastic glasses and plates when in this area but on looking in the cupboard there were only a couple of odd glasses and plates. (John if you read this hope you have now bought some more as promised!).

I had booked up to go on a Tony’s Tropical Rainforest Tour from home (UK) and when I contacted them and said we needed to be picked up at The Meridian they got in touch with John at The Meridian and he arranged for the payment to be put on our bill so we only had one bill. John also booked a Quicksilver barrier reef trip for us whilst we were there and again added this to our bill. They also confirmed our pick-up time for our shuttle back to Cairns with Krystal Transport.

The apartments are well positioned a short walking distance to everything in Port Douglas. We really liked Port Douglas and I wish I had factored in a couple of more days here when planning our Australia trip.

We visited The Tin Shed which overlooks the inlet for an evening meal. Great place to eat, excellent value with large portions. Unfortunately not there at the right time to see the sun set.

I would most certainly recommend these apartments and would definitely stay there again if we were ever in Port Douglas.

We stayed here for 3 nights back in October with the goal of going to the Great Barrier Reef and the tropical rainforest. Our hosts made our stay lovely in this really well kept place. The room was clean and with a good size. The little kitchen area was practical. The bathroom area was quite big and also clean. The hotel itself is located really close to the main shopping and dining street. The pool was quite nice and provided a relief for the tropical heat. I would definitely stay at this hotel next time I'm in the area.
