“Kick back and relax in luxury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2013

There were 6 of us (two backpackers, one old lady, and three welsh ones oh and the teddy) and we wanted a relaxing break in a lovely place - Tropical Nites is an amazing place, the town house was so spacious and very well equipped, we did not feel squashed in at all. Damian and Tania were so lovely and friendly and could not do enough for us. The swimming pool is great and there was a lovely BBQ area that was spacious and comfortable. We had a huge balcony and the king size bed in the main room was so comfy, the other two bedrooms were really comfortable and there was lots of storage space. The place was spotless and very clean. We had seven nights there and we really enjoyed our stay, would not hesitate to come back or recommend this too anyone. The beach is about a 5 minute walk away and you can walk into the main street very easily. We did not want to leave and spent most days beside the pool just relaxing. You can book all your trips here as well so you do not have to trawl around looking for the best deal. The pizza place down the road is excellent as well if you do not fancy cooking in the spacious and very well equipped kitchen. Thank you so much for a lovely stay x

We stayed here for 9 nights after a couple of weeks travelling around QA with our kids (their first time down under). This was definitely the best all round accommodation we stayed in.

Firstly the accommodation: really well appointed. Great light rooms with modern décor & huge balcony. Bathroom and kitchen perhaps a bit older looking (we were only in the standard accommodation) , but it was clean and worked, so no problems really.

Tania was brilliant !! Extremely welcoming and friendly. She leant us her kids' buckets and spades (which they made full use of on the gorgous 4 Mile Beach) & every little problem was sorted straight away.

Location-wise , the accommodation is approx. 20/25 min walk really from centre of town. We did find it a bit of a long way in the heat in the middle of the day. it was OK at night, except you need to be prepared to dodge sprinklers en route. Beach is only 5/10 minutes , but be prepared to cross a busy road.

We first visited Port Douglas 12 years ago and found it still unspoilt (well certainly by our European standards). The location is great - easy to drive to Daintree or back to Cairns. Plenty of places to eat - though we found them often over-priced for what they were (again that's partly our European standards - we thought that of everywhere in QA , but Port Douglas seemed the worst place that we stayed). The supermarket in town was better than expected for a smallish outlet in a shopping centre (again we found some Oz supermarkets pretty poor compared to what we are used to) and the pool/BBQ area & accommodation kitchens were well equiptted, so we cooked ourselves quite a few times.

Anyway, that's the end of the wingeing Pom bit - we loved this place and certainly didn't want to come home !

After booking 3 months prior with payment made through wotif and confirmation sent we rocked up and didn't have a booking. I was informed by the manager that the error came from wotif's site due to a software issue however on further investigation with wotif this was absolutely not correct and the booking was just not put in (human error). I was transferred to a place down the road in a tiny studio apartment with no even mention of a refund or booking of a better room somewhere as we wanted a one bedroom apartment. The studio was horrible and very poor quality.

They had the curtsey to drive us to the other place and that was it. Given we were lied to, and not even upgraded to a similar apartment was very poor service. We should have at lease been refunded!

Our only mistake has been not to stay longer there!...
The accomodation was great with a lot of space and huge comfortable beds.
Tanya has taken really great care of us before, during and after our stay and was really helpful to organize our day out on the reef.
Great value for the money!

The welcome and helpful information provided by Damian and Tania to the four of us (two couples) for the four of us during our stay was outstanding. Damian and Tania were familiar with all the attractions and the best way to access them. The two story unit was modern and well maintained, with all the amenities needed for a medium-term stay, including an excellent outdoor BBQ area. We traveled for four weeks in Queensland staying in 11 Apartments -Tropical Nites was without question the stand out apartment.

Booked this based on Tripadvisor reviews and it lived up to expectations. Lovely, 3 bedroom, 2 storey, spacious unit. Very clean, well furnished and exceptionally quiet. It was perfect for our family of 5. Loved the brightly painted exterior finish of the units and the design of the pool area which added to the tropical feel of this small group of apartments.
Tania and Damian were perfect hosts and gave us excellent advice on local activities and a trip to the reef.
Cant imagine there being better accommodation in Port Douglas.
