“Excellent family accommodation”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Our family of 5 stayed at tropical nites for 10 days. Our 3 bedroom villa was spacious and clean, with lovely views of tropical greenery. It was only a leisurely 15 minute walk into town. Tania and Damian were fabulous and were always there to help us out with any queries that we had about the services in Port Douglas. They were very generous and went well beyond what you would expect of them. We particularly enjoyed the pool area which also included BBQ, tables, chairs and banana lounges to relax on whilst the kids swam in the pool. We would highly recommend A Tropical Nite for families and also for those as couples. We will certainly come back again.

We were a large group for a special birthday and had 4 3 bedroom units. They are self contained with 2 upstairs bedroom with bathroom & balconies and laundry, 1 downstairs bedroom & bathroom, kitchen dining and lounge. There was plenty of room to have 6 adults staying in the one unit. Very comfy beds. Tania & Damian were the perfect hosts, they helped us out with local traders to cater for food that we had picked up ...The BBQ and pool area is perfect. It is about a good 20 minute walk into town but if you did not want to walk there is a shuttle bus that will take you in. Highly recommend to stay

We stayed here for a week in August for a special birthday. We had four families staying there in 3 villas (including 5 kids). It was great as the kids could run safely to each others villas. The villas are very spacious and very clean with two large balconies. It is an easy walk into town and the beach. Most importantly the service we received from Tania and Damian. They were brilliant and always so willing to assist. Their knowledge of the area is excellent and so convenient to book tours through. We would highly recommend this place as a very relaxed family holiday. We will definitely be returning.

We spent 7 nights at the Tropical Nites townhouses, and enjoyed our time there as it was a convenient base. At least in late July it appeared to predominantly cater to Australian families on tropical vacations, which did mean that the pool was busy and noisy during the day. It was about an 18 minute easy pace stroll to Macrossan Street; after sunset the route is fairly dark so it might be worthwhile to have a flashlight. The apartment was very large for two people, being two levels and containing 2 bathrooms, as well as sitting area, dining table, kitchen and bedroom. The bed was comfortable, although the mattress was on the firm side. It was nice having the two bathrooms for getting ready in the morning prior to our tours, although we felt the number of towels and the amount of soap/shampoo provided were insufficient. They did have replacement soap/shampoo available for purchase in the main office. The walls to the other apartments were fairly thin, as we could hear what sounded like snoring from the next apartment a couple of nights. The owners live on site, and were very friendly and helpful with suggestions; one thing to mention is that the office wasn’t open during the posted hours a couple of afternoons when we hoped to talk to them. We had paid for Wifi in the room, but the connection was very weak and slow and probably not worth the money. Having the washer and dryer was very convenient, although we found that the dryer did not work very well and rather hung our clothes to dry. Overall, this was a good spot to base ourselves, but with some minor tweaks could be greatly improved.

Stayed here a while back But I would recommend it to anybody looking for good quality family accommodation OR if you are travelling with other families/friends. Damien & Tania have a young family of their own and are a good source of knowledge for tours, activities and restaurants that will suit. We had a wonderful week here as part of a big family group - 4 families sharing 3 different townhouses, 8 children 6 and under, it was a perfect venue. Each townhouse was big, comfortable, clean and we could meet at the pool and the kids could play outside the townhouses together.

The townhouses were very clean and well outfitted - lots of kitchen gear so you could cook pretty much anything you wanted - even a coffee plunger.

The location was fine, not too far from the beach - probably a 15 minute walk from Macrossan Street and the centre of town. We all hired cars and found that was great, without cars this location might be a bit inconvenient - a long walk back from the supermarket....

It was a lovely week and we'd definitely stay here again - but there were a couple of gripes - beware that you get charged extra for things like portacots and highchairs which other places tend to include free - and when travelling with babies are so essential (Highchairs were $40 / week which seemed a bit steep). Also you do need to buy absolutely everything you need to cook with - the kitchen had lots of cooking gear but not even salt and pepper provided.

We had to find somewhere to stay after a problem with our caravan. So glad we found this place.Tania was super friendly and made you feel like family. Our apartment was roomy and light and had everything we needed during our stay. The gardens are well looked after and a very nice pool. Would highly recommend Tropical Nites.
