“Great Accomodation - Spacious Clean & Family Orientated...”
Reviewed 18 January 2009

Alan & Peta were the most hospitable and helpful hosts. They were extremely knowlegable about the trips and advised on suitability for families. The accomodation was spotlessly clean, very spacious and more importantly than anything very cool. The Air conditioning and ceiling fans more than a match for the Port Douglas humidity - essential for a comfortable nights sleep. The accomodation benefited from having washing and drying facilities and the usual TV/DVD combination if the tropical heavens opened. The pool was clean, very warm and safe for families. Swimming locally off the beaches is only in a stinger suit during the Oz summer months, so a pool is essential despite the coastal location.

Make sure you've some bush strength mozzy spray as the local beasties are very unforgiving. Great place to act as a base for discovering Daintree, Cape Trib and the Mossman Gorge area as well as attractions around Cairns. Port Douglas full of great places to eat out with a varied price range.

Overall - Recommended.

My family and I stayed at tropical nites as part of a road trip down the east coast to Brisbane. We found the accomodation perfect, with 3 large bedrooms giving enough space for 6 adults and all the facilities we needed, including BBQ. It was fantastic value for money.
The managers were superb, helpful and friendly, they gave us great advice regarding trips to the Great Barrier Reef making sure that everyone got what they wanted from the day. Would definitely go back if we get the chance.

We had a great 5 nights here.

Peta and Alan provide a handy booking facility at no additional cost with informative and relevant advice. It was nice that they were both geniunely interested in our adventures on the reef and the Daintree.

Spacious and comfortable rooms with AC and good cooking facilities.

  • Liked — Services, very friendly and useful
  • Disliked — A bit of a walk into town. Would recommend you have a car or a bike.

We have just returned from our honeymoon, my husband and I believe that we could have not picked a better place to stay. The owners Peta and Alan were fantasic, they were very helpful with everything from the very first phone we made to them for the booking to the very end of your stay there. Our room/apartment were very neat and tidy inside and out.
We will be letting all your family/friends know about Tropical Nites and if they are planning a holiday to Port Douglas they should stay there.

We stayed at Tropical Nites for 11 nights and had a wonderful stay. The complex itself was well maintained and very clean. As far as family accomodation is concerned; it was great value for money as it had a seperate living area and meals area and two balconies which had a lovely tropical aspect overlooking the pool. It was also only about 5-10 minute walk into the heart of Port Douglas (Macrossan St).

  • Liked — Value for money in terms of a family budget holiday getaway - plenty of room and pool access
  • Disliked — Didn't offer any room service (eg. change sheets, clean bathrooms etc..)

Tropical Nites is a Townhouse complex offering up to three-bedroom accommodation. The setting is wonderful, with a peaceful serene outlook over the swimming pool, bar-b-que area.
We used the pool and bar-b-que every day, cooking 5 of our 7 meals at the accommodation and even had a few breakies on the barbie. There is an IGA close by to collect all your necessary groceries etc.
Hosts, Alan & Peta could not have done more for us - so friendly and willing to help us with any little need. We even hired our beach towels from Tropical Nites - just $5 for the week - saved packing them in our luggage.
We waited til we arrived in Port Douglas before booking any tours as the weather can play such a big part to your experience. Tropical Nites can help you with all your sight-seeing and tours and their knowledge was outstanding.
The accommodation was air-conditioned and had overhead fans - perfect. It was very clean, spacious and we wanted for nothing.
I could certainly recommend Tropical Nites - we will be going back that's for sure!!!!

We recently spent 12 nights at Tropical Nites Holiday Townhouses in Port Douglas. From the outset this holiday was planned as a time for relaxation rather than full on activities & sight seeing, therefore we spent the majority of our time at the accommodation. Throughout our stay, our hosts were courteous, friendly, and very helpful with advice on local amenities and services. Our initial impressions of the accommodation were of spaciousness, cleanliness, functional design, and aesthetically pleasing. The external areas were tidy and well maintained with neat gardens. The pool & bbq area was clean and inviting, resulting in us spending a lot of time in the pool. Throughout our stay we felt very much at home and comfortable in this accommodation, including comfy beds, television viewing, spending time by the pool, and all the requirements for preparing meals when not eating out. Tropical Nites was a great location for our family holiday and we would not hesitate to stay there again it we should return to Port Douglas.

  • Liked — Design of the townhouses.
  • Disliked — Awkward shower in upstairs bathroom, low showerhead and also over bath.
