Tropical Nites

The description of this property is absolutely accurate - accommodation is of a very high standard with pleasing. The second/third bedrooms don't have a huge amount of space but we did have very large suitcases! Pool was ideal and never crowded as the beach is just a short walk away. The main town centre is a longer walk but we were alerted to this by previous reviews. Communal BBQ also a useful feature and Alan was always helpful.

Chris, the manager, was very helpful and friendly. The location was a leisiurely walk to the town. The kitchen was fully equipped with utensils, a good stove, and cleaning supplies and plates. We enjoyed cooking our meals in the spacious kitchen area. Also, there was a washing machine and dryer, so we washed our clothes accumulated from our travels to Melbourne and Sydney. The bedroom was upstairs with a nice balcony attached. Very comfortable--a nice place to catch up on our rest and see the lovely beach and tropical surroundings after enduring the winter weather in Melbourne.

This was our second family stay at Tropical Nites, and we are already scheduling next years! With two teenage kids we need the 3 bedroom layout and the kitchen (and fridge) get well used. Alan is a great host, and the place itself is a comfortable walk to the beach, Marina and town centre. Of course Port Douglas itself is just perfect - particularly at this time of year (June / July) with no shortage of things to do - or just chill on the beach.

Stayed for seven nights for a 25th wedding anniversary, in all aspects we where both very pleased with the accommodation. For the price we paid we believed Tropical Nites was excellent value for money. This is the place to base your self for all the activities Port Douglas offers. We had a couple of very minor issues in which the on site management rectified immediately when they where made aware of the situation, what more could we have asked for.

Booked a deluxe townhouse ended up with dirty 80's cane furnished rooms. The resort is more of a motel. God knows how it's a 4 star resort, pool is small and BBQ area dirty. Bathroom had mould growing in the shower and a family of insects in the basin. Resort is a good 20 minute walk from town. Do yourself a favour and stay else
