This is a budget motel and guests should be aware of the noise due to the close proximity of the rooms and the continuous noise from the pool filter system and guests using the pools that are located so close to the rooms.
The lack of continuous wifi and foxtel was a negative. having to pay for extras, like towels was a bit much when other accommodation in the area was not much more expensive. This is not a resort and it is too far from the shops. The lack of a cafe or similar was also a negative.

Thank you for your feedback and sharing your concerns. I am sorry to hear the pool pump noise was disturbing. I have located the problem of a pump with a failed bearing and this is now been serviced by our pool technicians. So other readers are aware, we do provide both bath and pool towels in the rooms so the fee is only for those that don’t wish to wash the ones supplied. Eight Foxtel are available but depending on the TV in your unit, they way to access those channel may vary. We have placed a sticker on the TV’s with instructions for guests that you may not have seen this. 30 minutes of complimentary WIFI is provided per day though there is a fee by our service provider for additional usage. Whilst we do not have a café on-site, we do provide discount offers for the Tree Bar and Grill next door which makes fabulous coffee and has delightful meals. They have an extensive menu and are open from 6:30am until late every day. I hope you enjoyed your activities in the tropical north whilst you were here.

We had booked a campsite in Port Douglas while travelling with our two children and my mother-in-law (5 in total). My mother-in-law did not want to camp but did not tell us until the day we were due to arrive so we were crazily trying to find hotel accommodation in Port Douglas in peak season. We drove past Oaks Lagoon and went in on the off chance they had a room. Tina at Reception was amazing. Not only did they have a two bedroom available, she made sure we could use the pool while it was being cleaned and arranged for free late check-out. Having been camping for the previous 10 nights, this was absolute luxury. The only issue we had was the lights on the walkway outside the main bedroom being extremely bright all night and only timber venetians on the windows. The kids spent the afternoon in the pool and the kitchen was great so we could cook our own food. Definitely one to go back to.

I am pleased we were able to provide a 2 bedroom apartment for you at such short notice. You can be lucky. Thank you for recognizing Tina’s wonderful customer service skills. Tina really loves to make our guests welcome and Moves Mountains to ensure they enjoy their time in Port Douglas. I have noted your comments about the external lighting, there is no easy fix but we will work towards a solution. Please thank your mother-in-law for bringing you to us and we hope to see you again once your camping days are over.

Looking for a Clean friendly and affordable resort to stay?? Then look no Further, we have been traveling to Port Douglas for years now and we use to stay somewhere different every time but since we landed at Oaks we haven't bothered to stay anywhere else. The 1 bedroom swim out is amazing, this room is decked out with a large kitchen for those that like to cook and a lounge for those that like to relax. The staff are extremely helpful with any queries you may have especially for all those activities that PD has to offer, the staff here will organise it all for you, all you need to do is work out what day you want to go. Although the resort doesn't have a restaurant it really doesn't matter because the Ramada next door is just a 1 minute walk for Breakfast, lunch and dinner! But in saying this, if you don't feel like going anywhere then the outdoor BBQ area is huge and is always kept clean by the staff and other residence. The gorgeous 4 mile beach is only a 5 minute walk away. We travel at all times of the year and I found if you're traveling around May/June then asked for the swim out room with the heated pool, any other time of the year ask for the sunny side because there is nothing like sitting out in your private courtyard soaking up those sun rays! Seriously.....Once you stay here you won't go anywhere else!

Thanks for your lovely review Darren, and for sharing some of your photos. We love helping our guests get the most out of their visit to the region by sharing our knowledge and helping with bookings for trips weather it is to the reef, the rainforest or the best way to visit Kuranda if you have a car. We do get many comments about not having a restaurant and your review really covers how this really doesn’t limit a guest when staying with us. Even ‘room service’ can be arranged as many restaurants do cater for delivery to your unit or pickup and takeaway and all our rooms including our standard hotel rooms do have settings of cutlery and crockery in the room. One of our pools is now heated and is a new feature for the property. Just gives those that find our tropical winter still a bit ‘fresh’, a warmer swimming option.

Room was ok, but the place is too far out of town, and they charged for inappropriate things (extra towels, wi-fi after 45 minutes, leaving key in room on check out when desk unattended). Room rate is cheap though.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and allow me to clarify a couple of these issues for you.
First up and importantly, if you left your key in the room, you should / will not be charged. Please make contact with the hotel and advise us of your booking details and if you have been charged it will be refunded as we are not missing any keys up to when you submitted your review. Note we could have increased our prices and included all those other charges in one higher price, but hey, we don't like to charge people for things they may not use. I guess we have a user pay system; much the way that airlines seem to be moving to these days. I am sorry that didn't work for you. You will see from other guest feedback here many of our guests are very happy with our location. It is important factor in choosing a place for your holiday so researching where you stay before you book is also very important. We hope you enjoyed the rest of what Port Douglas had to offer whilst you where here.

The Oaks Lagoons was a great choice for myself and teenage children. We had a two bedroom apartment on the third floor which was very clean, well appointed and even had a spa that we put to good use. The pools were lovely and the staff were very helpful and informative. The shuttles that run in and out of Port Douglass made transportation easy (I was very grateful to the Oaks staff who let us know there are two companies that operate the shuttles and that tickets are not interchangeable). Access to four mile beach was very easy from the Oaks and walking into Port Douglass was very easy too.
The only thing missing was a cafe/restaurant near the pool!

We are pleased you enjoyed the peaceful ambience of the Oaks Lagoons. The spa’s on the balconies of the hotel spa rooms or the 2 bedroom apartments is a great way to really relax in our tropical environment., particularly after a big day out visiting the Great Barrier Reef. Whilst we may not be in the main street, our location as I see you was not an issue. Not only is it a lovely walk along the beach to the main street, but also making use of bicycles in the relatively flat precinct of Port Douglas makes the journey also a part of the holiday experiences. No we don’t have a restaurant but there are a number of excellent takeaway or delivery options from many nearby restaurants which can be enjoyed at our tables in the BBQ area, that is if your not cooking up a gastronomic storm on our very popular BBQ’s yourself.

lovely self contained apartment, first class in every way. We had a walk out to pool room which I would recommend. Very clean, great bbq area. nice and quiet after staying in Pt Douglas which was very noisy between midnight and 1;30 AM Very nice study era where you can get a bit of work done, for a one bedroom apartment it was very big. Will go back

Room Tip: If you have to stay in town don't be anywhere near the pubs or t lest no windows in there direct...

Thanks John, great to hear you appreciated the quiet ambience at the Oaks Lagoons. It is exactly what we are trying to provide with comfortable, clean and functional rooms. Whilst we do offer a number of hotel rooms the apartments are really good for the additional cost. For shorter stays, the hotel rooms work very well if you’re not planning on a lot of food preparation in your room. We get lots of great comments about our BBQ’s, they almost become a social hub of the resort where guests get to meet and share ideas on their Port Douglas experiences. Hope you are able to escape again at some time to unwind once again here in the tropics.

While some things I would rate excellent, others i would rate average. Firstly the one bedroom apartments are far more spacious than anywhere i have stayed in before. In fact they are almost like a 2 bedroom apartment as they have a little study off the bedroom with a sofa bed to put your kids in or in our case the portacot. This way our baby had her own little room which was fantastic as during her daytime sleeps we would still have the entire lounge, kitchen and bedroom to ourselves. The beds were sooo crisp, fresh and comfortable, I had the best sleep. Great sized kitchen and lounge area, all spotlessly clean. I was very impressed with the apartment overall.
So the average part was the lack of staff available at the place. When we checked in there was only one girl at reception and no house keeping staff after 5pm. However, its not her fault and she was extremely friendly and helpful. Also portacot hire is way overpriced at $20 per night. Every other place we have ever stayed provides them free of charge.

Thanks Emily for your balanced scorecard of your stay. I am pleased you found the layout worked very well for you. The room next to the bedroom is absolutely perfect for young families where you can either have a cot as you did or have an under 8 year old close utilising the fold out sofa without actually being in the same room as yourselves. These are what we refer to as “One Bedroom Apartments with sofa”. Once the children get past that age, it’s the parents that usually want more space and start considering the 2 bedroom options…!!
