Located on the opposite side of the road from the beach as you drive in to Port Douglas, the QT is an older resort which has had a retro-beach club makeover. The vibe has a touch of ‘hipster’ and makes a refreshing change to the typical Queensland resorts. There’s a mixture of room styles available including apartment. I was in an upstairs (note no lift) typical hotel room style with a view of the surrounding bushland which was lovely and peaceful – I heard overlooking the central pool was a bit noisy. My room was clean and comfortable and I appreciated the free wifi. The facilities were good – lovely pool which a lot of the rooms overlook, pool bar, restaurant etc – I didn’t check out the gym though. The buffet breakfast was very good. The staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. Would I stay here again? Happily as I can’t fault the place but I’d probably check out some other options before committing (it was a business trip so I had no choice).

Room Tip: I recommend a room looking to the outside of the resort (west facing) rather than looking at the pool if you want a bit of piece and quiet. Request a lower level room in you don't like stairs.

So my friend and I decide to go away to Port Douglas for the night and leave the men in charge of the kids! I liked the price and location of QT and thought "it doesn't matter what it is like, it will just be good to have a relaxing time" Well! what a surprise, we were met at reception by probably the friendliest, most relaxed hotel reception guy in FNQ. He took us quickly through the check-in and after discovering we were locals he checked we had all our plans in place and we were done. Its amazing how the person you first meet at a hotel can set the tone for your stay. We then visited the spa for an amazing treatment, again with lovely staff. The room was such a surprise, gorgeous beachy feel to it and very comfortable with lovely locally made additions that were available for purchase. The whole resort is lovely. we didn't eat there as we had reservations in town, but I wish we had....next time definitely. We had a drink in the bar, again great bar staff and very comfortable. Unfortunately we had to leave the next day but I will definitely be back, great looking resort made superb by its staff.

Room Tip: We had a daquari room, really lovely and although no pool view it didn't matter, looked out onto luch rainforest.

I have stayed a couple of times in this resort hotel. They offer hotel suites and 1 bedroom suites. Both are well appointed, my favourite being the 1 bedroom which are very spacious and have a little kitchenette.
The layout of the blocks around the vast grounds with the pool at the centre is great and means most rooms have some sort of view or outlook.
The restarant serves very good quality food, and the chefs are very accomodating to any requests. They always have very fresh local produce and the choices are great.
The staff throughout the resort are very friendly and helpful.
Although it is out of town a little bit it's actually in a good quiet location and the local shuttle bus only takes 5 minutes to get to town if you need to go.

Room Tip: Book a 1 bedroom suite, you won't be disappointed.

We're from Cairns so just down the road. My girlfriend treated us to a night in Port away from kids and partners. We"re busy full time working mums with no family network in these parts. She booked the hotel and dinner. I booked the spa.

What a way to be welcomed! No stuffy check in clerk here! Big smiles from a relaxed and friendly Josh. Exactly what we want but never get until now. He told exactly what we needed to know and during our stay went the extra mile with a smile and the reassurance that that's what the QT is about.
Our room was really functional but had those touches you don't see or get anywhere else. Colour. Even down to mini bar and snack detail it was well though out and catered well. And things like brollies (it is the tropics) and bicycles free to use for guests.

We booked massages in the QT spa and didn't those amazing therapists just treat those tight knots perfectly and leave us feeling like our arms we longer than when we arrived with the release of stress, and giggling at the comfy robes we were wrapped in and the fantastic noises we we making! Awesome job Ladies. Thank you so much for an amazing afternoon of massage therapy.

We're coming back , together with families. The pool area is awesome and kid and adult friendly (with a bar) and the steam train stops outside the resort to take you into Port proper. My littlies will love that.

I highly recommend this relaxed resort with fantastic service for anyone! You will enjoy!

Room Tip: About 3km out of Port proper but plenty of shuttle busses and transport to ferry you around :-)

My partner and I had an awesome holiday in Port Douglas, and thanks to QT Resort for making it even better! We booked their "Time to Unwind" package which included daily breakfasts, and arrival dinner and drinks.

Our one bedroom villa was comfortable and spacious, and the interiors were fresh and fun. The villa offered, including kitchen facilities (knife to cut the mangoes we had picked fresh off the trees, which grew everywhere in PD, and a microwave to reheat the muffins we secretly took from the breakfast buffet :p), two flat screen TVs (bedroom and lounge room) and a balcony, we were on the bottom floor so we just walked straight out to their tropical garden and swimming pool. The only drawback was their queen size bed, which really was just two beds put together. The daily room service was decent but we noticed inconsistencies where one day it was nice and tidy (they even put our freshly picked mangoes in the banana-shaped fruit basket haha!) and the other day it seemed like it was just done in a rush.

We were really impressed with Bazaar (buffet restaurant) that served a variety of great dishes and the way the dishes were uniquely presented. They also offered made-to-order dishes, so this wasn't a typical buffet restaurant. Having the daily breakfast at Bazaar was enjoyable, as the food and service were good. One of the chefs was hospitable and had always offered to make us freshly made dishes. He even knew we liked his porridge that he made a big batch for the buffet table the next day, but I think we were the only ones that touched it. If only we could secretly take the porridge pot along with the muffins in our bag and reheat it back in the villa after a long day out in the reef.

The Estilo bar and swimming pool were great! We'd normally hang out later in the afternoon after a day of picking mangoes, naming different types of bromeliads, climbing coconut trees and other exciting tropical activities, so we pretty much had the bar & pool to ourselves. We also enjoyed playing ping pong and they even had Jenga...so we never got bored! The cocktails were nice but I think it can be improved. The bar food made by Bazaar was yummy.

We really liked the atmosphere and the design of this place...it was quite unique. The service of their staff was great. We had no problems, so it really was a great stay :)
