We visited Salsa on a recommendation and as recommended we booked weeks in advance which proved to be a god call as the restaurant wasn’t taking any more bookings. Saying that it seemed only 3/4full whilst we were there (7-9pm). The food was very good, but I guess with all the hype we expected something extraordinary. Please don’t get me wrong - the food was very good, but not to the extreme of some reviews. The service was good, but a little rushed, it felt like we had to make a decision constantly, like being asked to order a drink before finishing the one we had. With its relaxed interior and a great location, we wanted to have a nice dinner at our own pace and not being hassled constantly. There was one other item during the service which I didn’t think would be a norm at a restaurant of this caliber, and that was not having your glass of wine poured at the table when you ordered wine by the glass. You ordered a glass and someone just brought a glass full of wine to your table. Wine selection was very good and the prices were not budget prices either -I would at least expect to see the wine I ordered being poured into my glass.
However - overall it’s still probably one of the better restaurants in Port Douglas, but maybe missing a bit of that spark everyone raves about who visited in the last few years.

A friend who lives in Cairns recommended Salsa and we weren’t disappointed. We went for lunch during the week and the setting was very relaxing and the restaurant has a nice ambience.

I The service is very efficient and friendly and staff were very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was ‘OMG amazing’! We had the jambalaya which had chicken, seafood and crocodile sausage and was just delicious. For dessert we had their chocolate plate which again was delicious.

Can’t wait until we return to Port Douglas so we can bead back to salsa.

This restaurant never fails to disappoint!! The food is just delicious and always includes fresh flavors and combinations. Tonight my kids were allowed to watch the chefs prepare their meals and they were so excited to see how the restaurant works behind the scenes. The service for us all was absolutely great. Will definitely return when we are next in town... but do remember to book well in advance.

Along with On the Inlet, the best restaurant in Port Douglas. Great variety of specials - not cheap but well worth the experience.

I always book salsa at least 3 weeks in advance. Even during the quiet period 2 weeks before school holidays we watched people being turned away.
What can I say that hasn’t been said? It’s an institution, the food lives up to the hype, it’s still casual port Douglas dining, but the food and service is is top class.
Don’t hesitate in taking the kids. Kids menu has something for even the pickiest and it’s REAL food on the kids menu. No dodgy burgers and frozen nuggets here!
