“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Based on the favourable reviews on Trip Advisor I had high expectations of this place and initial signs were positive with smooth, friendly service and a decent looking menu. Having said that, the entrees were on the heavier side - they would be better served with some oysters, salmon carpaccio or similarly light seafood dishes that would suit the climate better. Given that these were not available, I chose a beef carpaccio which was tasty but over seasoned and quite hard to finish due to the massive salt hit. The main (salmon) was an old piece of fish, again over seasoned with a clumsy beurre blanc and a stodgy pancake type affair which was inedible at best. The highlight on the dish was the broccolini, which was perfectly cooked but coated in melted butter. This provided a welcome respite from the rest of the dish. After 2 poor dishes I went down the street for a gelato rather than risking their desserts. Perhaps the chef was away but I would have been better off at the local pub. Nothing worse than dodgy food masquerading as fine dining. The 3 stars are largely for the service and the atmosphere but certainly not the food.

“Great Restaurant Near Our Accommodation”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We were delighted with Zinc, excellent service and great food, so close to where we stayed at Martinique.
The meals and service were excellent.

Excellent food and service.
Excellent Food and Service. Some evenings we Excellent food and service. Some evenings we also enjoyed a drink in the open air lounge after dinner. Whether we ate at Zinc or cooked in our apartment.

Cake and coffee was also great value and we enjoyed the lunch deal including a glass of wine, with only a few steps to return to our accommodation.

We clearly recommend Zinc for those visitors staying the Four Mile Beach quiet end of Port's main street as we did.

“Good food excellent service”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We went to Zinc on our last night in port Douglas, sorry we hadn't gone earlier. There was a extensive menu and wine list, prices were a little up there, but in saying that, the food was very good, We were served by very friendly staff. Restaurant was very busy but we never felt neglected. I think reservations are a must in the busy periods
