I loved this hotel, the area it is situated is not great, but the hotel is lovely.

Room was big and elegant. The staff were lovely and the included breakfast was good.

There was free WiFi as well. There is a Steakhouse across the road that got a little rowdy at night but it didn't bother me at all. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room on the other side of the Steakhouse road.

Area is industrial but a short drive to airport and the city centre.

Room tip: Side of hotel facing carpark/garden.

Stayed one night traveling from Brisbane to Darwin. Beautifully decorated rooms, very clean and comfortable. Bed was so comfy slept like a baby. Had dinner at the pub across the road, really good atmosphere, staff very welcoming dinner was great. Full cooked breakfast at hotel was provided, cooked by a really nice young lady named Taylor, buffet style so you can eat all you want. Will definitely return. Well done to all the staff you should all be proud of the way this hotel is presented.

I chose this accommodation as I was having surgery and had to stay a couple of nights in Rockhampton. What a grand old lady - used to be an administration building for the railway and built in 1885. The rooms are modern but decorated to look 'old' with lovely, antique-looking furniture and drapery. The 4.8m ceiling adds to the wow factor when you first walk in. My recovery bed was a very comfortable, genuine king-sized (not 2 beds pushed together) 4 poster bed. The room was large, peaceful and comfortable and we had full length verandas all around the building and a bench to sit on outside our room. We were on the top floor which is about 30 stairs to climb. There is no actual view as such other than a lovely little garden downstairs as the motel is in a light industrial zone. This didn't matter as we couldn't hear much from inside our room. My only suggestion would be to take your own dish liquid and tea towel as these are not provided to clean your cups/glasses after a drink. Also, there wasn't good provision for hanging our bath towels as there was only a small rack that was strangely placed inside the shower area. My suggestion would be to provide maybe a portable device for hanging towels. The shower is over the top of a large spa bath. Keep this in mind if you might have difficulty getting up and over the edge of the bath. The bathing area is not in a separate room. Only the toilet is in a separate room. Breakfast is included in the price and is a buffet breakfast in the reception area. Here, guests share tables together and it's a good chance to chat with others although I'd had throat surgery and this was not possible. The food looked excellent but I could only eat yoghurt. My husband said the coffee was excellent and he had the pleasure of having two very good breakfasts down there. The staff member in reception was lovely and welcoming. The Great Western Hotel is across the road and my husband went over there one night for dinner and was extremely disappointed. Perhaps look elsewhere for a feed. I would definitely recommend the Denison and would love to stay there again.

Stayed here for business on a recent trip, booked by corporate travel. The Denison is a throw back to old days of style with ornately furnished rooms with the anomaly of a spa bath in the corner! The room is large and the high ceilings make it seem even more so. It is very comfy. Yes it does have a slightly musty smell at first, but it is a very old, but well maintained building. I'd be more than happy to stay for short stays again. The free breakfast was great too. It is out of the way a bit but not a problem if you have a car.
