Got a cracking rate thru hotels.com at the last minute. Room was unbelievable. Perched on 16th floor we could see whales breaching in the ocean. Room had all the mod cons. Kids in the 2nd bedroom. Great breakfast thrown in. Tip - even numbered rooms are on the ocean side (sun rise), odd numbers overlook the river (sun set).
We will be back!

Dear lindysibbs

Thank you for taking the time to place a review of our resort on Trip Advisor. We appreciate all feedback whether it positive or negative, as it helps us learn where we need improvement, as we are always striving to be better.

Our maintenance department is currently going through all of our apartments to ensure they are up to standard and also removing any marks on walls that can often appear from in-house guests. Unfortunately marks on walls is not something we can prevent however we are actively going through our rooms on each guests departure to ensure the marks are removed. It can often be hard to keep up, however we are doing our best. There shouldn’t be any holes in walls, however in the rare case that this happens, we can only fix these holes when the room is vacant. The wall needs to be repainted after a hole is fixed, therefore we need at least a full day in the room. This can be hard when we have high occupancy, however we are lucky that we do not find too many holes and when we do, they are always very small.

As our resort is just over 2 years old (when you stayed in December 2010 we were only 16 months old), there shouldn’t be any issues regarding old carpet. We do of course expect general wear and tear and therefore carpets will not always look brand new, but we actively clean these and re-colour where required (this is not often required as they are all in good condition).

I believe our resort and rooms are in a great standard and we are very proud of this. It is very disappointing to hear that some marks on the walls and carpets have resulted in you not enjoying your stay and therefore not returning.

We hope that one day you will reconsider travelling with us, and we can show you our improvement in room standard.

Again thank you lindysibbs for your review.

Kind Regards,

Management

Booked through wotif, with various requests ie: high floor etc, which were all denied and we were advised that they are requests only and they were not in a position to comply with any.
Check in was no earlier than 2:00pm, on check in we were advised not to park on level b1 or our car would be towed by a clinical young fellow with a smirk on his face, when you walk into your unit you will find a message sitting above the oven which you really should read or it could cost you a lot of money, It basically states that if your toasting bread and set off the fire alarm your up for it.
This place sits on the wrong side of the very busy Surfers Paradise Blvd, the noise emanating from this road travels through to your unit, across the road is a backpackers and various restaurants all contributing to a very poor nights sleep, If you do intend to stay here a very high floor would be highly recommended or you will suffer the same fate.
A walk to the beach means you have to cross that busy road either by taking a risky attempt, or waiting at the lights for a very long time.
As others have noted staff are self indulged and very unfriendly.
We frequent this part of the world at least two times a year so have stayed at many resorts and this one sits on a very low scale, hence we would never consider staying here again regardless of price.

Room Tip: Insist on a high floor

Dear Trucky_10

Thank you for taking the time to place a review of our resort on Trip Advisor. We appreciate all feedback whether it positive or negative, as it helps us learn where we need improvement, as we are always striving to be better.

You are correct in saying our check in time is 2pm, this is generally the check in time for most hotels and resorts. As check out time is 10.00am, this allows us enough time to clean our rooms before the next arrival at 2pm. Over a weekend we can have up to our entire letting pool being approximately 110 units to clean for arrivals, which is why we cannot guarantee a check in before 2pm. If we have notes stating a guest will be arriving before 2pm, we advise housekeeping of this and try and prioritize the clean. Over a weekend nearly all of our arriving guests are arriving very early in the morning and are all requesting an early check in. It is physically not possible to have all of our rooms ready for these arrival times however we absolutely try our best. If you arrive early our receptionists will take your phone number and call you when the room has been cleaned. I have spoken to all reception staff to ensure this has been and will continue to be followed out.

The staff member who checked you in was correct in informing you that cars parked on B1 will be towed. This has been put in place by the Body Corporate who owns this basement, and we unfortunately cannot affect the decision of towing. B1 car parks are also allocated to the shops below us, being the restaurants, etc. There are plenty of signs in B1 however we notify our guests so there is no surprise towing. Although it is not ideal to have any guests who park in B1 towed, this limits the number of cars parked who are not staying at the resort. We have two basements B2 and B3 for guest parking and there is sufficient space for 1 car per apartment, meaning no guests should be required to park on B1. Most resorts, hotels and even shopping centres in Surfers Paradise have towing procedures in place, however these resorts and hotels do not notify their guests, whereas we do.

Along with an early check in request, requesting for a high floor, ocean view, etc are our most common requests in which most of our guests ask for. Our resort is made up of inhouse unit owners, permanent rentals and Worldmark Club Owners. Because of this there are many units in our resort that are occupied, limiting the amount of high and ocean view apartments. Due to this limited amount, we are unable to guarantee any such requests as we do not have enough. The guests who have paid for an high floor or ocean view will be allocated to these rooms first, IF there are any left over, we try our best to allocate the bookings that have requested these. Mostly, our guests upgrade leaving no high floor or ocean view units for the guests who request them. I apologise for your requests were not being met.

Our message regarding the smoke alarms is in place as our smoke alarms are very sensitive. Burning toast can set these off which will also automatically contact the local Fire Department who will arrive at the resort almost immediately. If the Fire Department arrive and find that it is a false alarm they will charge the guest a call out fee of up to $960.00. It is in ours and our guests best interest if we notify everyone so that no one is charged an unnecessary call out fee from the Fire Department.

Our holiday units start from level 2 right up to 17. Being in the centre of Surfers Paradise on the Surfers Paradise Boulevard (one of the main streets in Surfers Paradise), there will be some off street and traffic noise, and unfortunately you will have to cross this road to get to the beach. Either by using or not using the lights. Apart from the constructor installing sound proofing, there isn’t much else we can do about this noise. We hope that our guests are aware of where we are located before booking so that they are not disappointed. I apologise that you were possibly not aware of this and that you were allocated on a lower floor and therefore affected by the noise.

All staff are aware of our customer service level and we are always showing our staff where they can improve. I believe we have a great standard of customer service and receive many comments regarding this, however I have discussed your review with all staff to ensure they are giving their best at all times.

It is regretful that you do not wish to travel with us again, we do hope that one day you will reconsider and we can show you our improvement in our service.

Again thank you Trucky_10 for your review.

Kind Regards,

I stayed here on the 27th of August 2011 for my birthday, in a 2 bedroom apartment on the last floor. It was the most amazing place I've ever stayed at (I've stayed a a lot of apartments at Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise.) Check in was a breeze, the staff were very warm and friendly.

PROS: Easy check in, complimentary car parking, modern full size appliances, tv in main bedroom, tv in lounge room is a great size, cd player with ipod dock, very large balcony with fantastic ocean view, high ceilings, apartment is very spacious, nice heated swimming pool with sand edge, short walk to Cavill, large floor to ceiling windows (great views even from inside), plenty of restaraunts below hotel, access to balcony from every room, large bathrooms and very modern decor in rooms.

CONS: Pillows and beds were a little hard

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL and we'll definately be back!!! You really get what you pay for plus more. Try to get room 1712, has the best views and according to the receptionist, it's the best room in the whole place :)

We stayed at the Wyndham Surfers Paradise in a two bedroom apartment which met all our needs. It had it's good and it's bad.
Room was large with ample space for four people. It was clean and well equipped, I was amazed that it actually had TWO bathrooms! Although I didnt try out the pool and spa it looked amazing and I loved that they had an outdoor area of barbeques and comfy outdoor furniture to enjoy.

Unfortunatley though the apartment wasn't without it's faults. Upon getting out of the lift on level two we encountered a PUTRID smell along the corridor. It was there for a full day and smelt like wrotten meat or even a dead body it was that bad, never smelt anything so putrid.
The beds (four singles) were hard and uncomfortable, for a hotel of this rating I would have expected a half decent matress.
We were not provided any duvet cover on our beds only a sheet with wool blanket. Very odd?? There were duvet inners (without covers) in the wardrobe, one had blood stains on it, there was no way I was sleeping under that!!!
Only one car park assigned per room, we asked for a second as we had a two bedroom apt but they declined.
I see previous reviews comment on the poor service. I agree. Although I understand that with some of the apartments being permenant rentals it must be difficuilt to decipher who is a customer and who is not, not one member of staff who we walked past greeted us with a hi or a smile. The receptionist downstairs looked like sour grapes and the way I watched the "upstairs" receptionists argue with a gentleman over a telephone communication issue was appaling.

In future I will probably look elsewhere before staying at the Wyndham again.

Positive-clean rooms, nice views, stylish spa and pool

Negative- not very friendly staff and very pushy to try and make us go for a seminar, stayed for 7 nights and only serviced once (not ideal for parents with kids), after checking out we waited in the foyer for a pick up, a very rude man then came and asked the concierge what WE were doing sitting there and asked if we checked out and that we were making too much noise and there was too many of us. It was very upsettting considering we as a group (with two babies) were sitting quietly and were there for a max of 10 minutes. I felt they were like THANKS FOR STAYING NOW GO AND HURRY UP!
Would not join time shares after a Wyndham sales guy turned nasty at dreamworld when we said we wernt interested

The apartments were very modern and clean and a short walk to shops, restaurants and the beach. The buses to Seaworld and Pacific Fair stop right in front so we could leave our car in the undercover secure parking at the hotel.
The apartments are part of RCIS (timeshare) and they will try to book you into a seminar to buy. My friend however, who left her husband at home on this trip, was advised that she was not allowed to attend without her husband present ( a bit of a snub really and she was not too happy about that). But all in all a very pleasant and relaxing break. I would be happy to stay there again at the discounted rate we had booked.
