Dorchester on the Beach

Stayed for a week recently with guests from the UK & we were very impressed by the facilities, apartment & service. Location was great, walking distance to everything & my 2 yr old son couldn't have been happier with the easy access to the beach & pool.
We also had some relatives visit for lunch one day & it was great to be able to use the lovely bbq area and pool.
Management were very responsive to all our requests & even offered us a very late checkout as they didn't need our apartment the next day.
Very happy all round!

As a family of 4, including 2 teenagers the Dorchester was enjoyed by us all. We were in apartment 29 on the 14th floor and the views from every window and the front and rear balconies were absolutely awesome. The apartment was recently renovated and in addition to a lovely main bathroom the two queen bedrooms both had modern en suites. The apartment was tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The beds were comfy and existing basic supplies such as tea, coffee, milk, washing powder etc were appreciated. The large flat screen TV (including access to several foxtel channels) was mounted on the wall in the living area and another in the master bedroom. The pool was lovely and refreshing with a nice BBQ area adjacent and having direct beach access from the pool area was a huge bonus. Positioned midway between towers 31 and 32 patrolled swimming areas were only a short walk as is the lovely Northcliffe SLSC where we enjoyed breakfast one morning (the dinner menu looked great too but ran out of nights to eat there!). Yes, the basement parking was tight but we didn't have a big car so not an issue, just grateful to be able to park in the shade. Overall the nicest place we have ever stayed and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The rooms on the southern side of the building have the best views. Highly recommend room 29.

Hi, my family stayed here but unfortunately we were on the 2nd floor above the pool. The water heating unit sounds like an 747 jet engine...VERY noisy...and of course they only run it at night...
Also, the horizontal blinds did little to keep out the building/street lighting at night. I asked the building manager if the pool heating could be shut off or turned down but he reckons he can't win because if he shuts it down, people will complain about the cold pool water...

The view from the apartment was great and it was in reasonable condition.

Conclusion: great during the day...horrible at night as cannot sleep...avoid taking a unit near the lower floors and/or on the poolside of the building.

Room Tip: upper floor and/or on south side

We stayed in unit 2 - the views were fantastic and the apartment was clean. However, it was in need of an update or at the very least some maintenance especially in the kitchen. The carpet was quite stained and the windows were dirty. Very uncomfortable lounge suite. No blankets were supplied for the main bedroom and only cotton blankets for the second bedroom. This would probably be ok if it was summer but we were there in the middle of winter where the nights were very cold.

Only just having returned from our holiday at the Dorchester I felt the need to hop on here and just say what a perfect place the Dorchester is for a family holiday. its so well located that besides the views from every window and door, it is also only a short trip to all theme parks, 20 min or under to get to all of them , the nearest (seaworld) being only 5 mins away.
We stayed on the 10th floor , and had the most fantastic views, front balcony over the beach, bedroom balcony over the city lights .. everything in the 3 bedroom apartment was just perfect! including a spa in the 2nd bathroom.. the Dorchester on the beach delivers everything you could possibly ever want in a holiday apartment.
Pat and Rob were friendly and helpful through out our 9 day stay , from the first phone call to make our booking through to check out.. I just can NOT say enough about how fantastic this place was.. im quite fussy when it comes to cleaning, and i could not fault the Dorchester in any way. i had read all the reviews on here to help me decide where to stay and am so happy with the choice i made, so thanks to all that write reviews , and i hope this review helps others to make their choice ....

We stayed in a 3-bedroom apartment at 9th floor. The living room and the kitchen faced the sea directly. We could hear the waves constantly bashing onto the coast when the doors to the balcony were open. We had a great time cooking and sipping wine while enjoying the sea view.

Gold Coast 600 V8 Supercar Race was on when we first arrived. This property was located slightly away from the race circuit. Hence it was quiet and yet not left out of the action should you need one.

We rented an 8-seater car (Kia Grand Carnival) to accomodate 7 of us. The ceiling of the basement carpark was a tad low but high enough for us. There was a lot of pillars in the carpark as well. "Please be very careful while parking.", as told by our very friendly manager, Rob.

For some reasons, the air-conditioning went into standby mode on the second day. The windows of one of the rooms were completely locked and hence no air circulation without the air-con. After checking the air-con operating manual and knowing that it could be due to our own 'buttoning pressing', I seek help from Pat at the reception in getting the air-con reset. It was done without hassle. I am glad.

Overall, we had a very pleaseant experience staying here. The place was clean and the facilities adequate.

Room Tip: Choose a room where the windows could be open.

My family and I have just returned from a holiday, in a 3 bedroom apartment on the 9th floor - the views were 'to die for'! The apartments are located right on the beach and its only a short walk along the road to the heart of Surfers - its a really great spot. The managers were very friendly and we will definitely go back for another holiday.
