Stayed here overnight with my family though I wish we could have stayed longer. From the minute we drove in we were greeted by friendly staff who helped us with everything. The hotel is very well presented and the service was immaculate. Probably the best hotel I can remember staying at. The rooms were very nice and clean. Went to dinner at their restaurant Citrique and the food was AMAZING! The service made the experience even better. This hotel strives to give their customers the best experience possible and it's really not often I will stay at a hotel and want to come home to write a review. Will definitely be visiting again :)

The lobby is huge. The staff are friendly. Valet is efficient. The linen is worn. The bathroom has only 3 towels (but in summer it's hot up here). The rooms provide beach towels, but alas staff forget to replenish. The lagoon pool has music so loud you can't hear your own iPod. Xmas new year- yes it's busy. But overall for me a venue to rate well it will be the attention to detail that's remembered. It's the unexpected that makes you want to come back, and The Marriott didn't deliver.

I stayed here for three days specifically for the pool, and would definitely consider it worthwhile staying here just for that. It is great to snorkel (we took our own gear) and view the fish, to swim under waterfalls and in caves, and the main pool was of enough size to be interesting to swim in and not feel too crowded even at busy times. The second pool was also great, a bit warmer and with some jets to move you along in the river part - and the spa in the cave was very cool and a nice surprise. There is also a waterslide (parents will need to go up to the top of the slide to sign permission). We did not book a daybed as none of us are lazing by the pool types (would rather be swimming) but could always find a lounger or two to put our towels on. As others have mentioned, the poolside food/drink service is lacking, and small things such as icecreams are not available (kids had to go to reception when they wanted them). Having sufficient staff to note when flags are raised, or to patrol and take orders would be nice. One other problem with the pool is the towel situation. In the room was a sign stating that pool towels could be found in the drawers (they were not there) and swapped towel for towel with housekeeping (on request - they were not changed routinely as part of housekeeping routine) or at the pool hut (which is not open all of the hours the pool is open or even all of daylight). As a result there were many times when we ended up using already wet towels. The whole arrangement seems strange, as generally I would expect towels to be readily available at all pool hours and a place/bin to leave them provided at the pool.

The lobby is beautiful, with some really interesting seating and a nice feel. There is also an area with some terminals for internet use and wifi available. The service upon arrival was also great, with a staff member promptly approaching the car and directing me to parking (although was surprised not able to leave car there for check in and then self park), and the staff member at reception was very pleasant and helpful. They also provided champagne white chocolates, which was a nice touch.

Free wifi in room is available to Marriott members (which I am) but I was unable to get this to work while I was there. The room service menu had reasonable variety, and a great kids menu/kid friendly food - not a lot but enough to keep them happy. The delivery was very prompt and the staff were always great. Delivery was on tray even when multiple dishes delivered though, so needed to clear space near the tv for this plus hold the heavy door open which makes it difficult for kids to get food delivered alone - a mechanism to keep door open and use of the carts that fold out to tables would be helpful.

The room was reasonably sized, and the storage was great in that the wardrobe was big enough to step into and be able to hide suitcases away, and drawers to store clothes were in there so a nice neat arrangement. It looks like the room is pretty old and some cheap fixes have been made - painting over wood perhaps and resurfacing of the shower, although as this was peeling away on the floor it was not a nice effect. The beds were reasonably but not super comfortable. The room was clean, no dust even in the places that Anthony Melchiorri would check :D, and the housekeeping staff very pleasant.

The location is ok but not great - not in the heart of Surfers to walk to Cavill Avenue and a long way to theme parks (for an easier drive better to stay somewhere north of Australia Fair) and especially with roadworks backtracking was required when driving. There was not a lot to walk to, although we did enjoy King Tutt's Putt Putt.

Overall it was an enjoyable stay, and I would definitely stay again just for the pool (although three or four days is probably enough, and then moving to a more convenient location).

Stayed at the executive level and our stay had been very pleasant. Every staff is friendly and helpful. Would like to comment that Craig from the Retreat Club lounge had been very helpful in making sure that we have our vegetarian food options. Food at the club lounge was fantastic with great variety. The saltwater pool was a must and we had a great time swimming with the fish. Will be back!!!

The lobby and reception area were recently renovated so it's really quite pleasant. I rather like the very organic feel the decor has. It's very inspired by fruits de la mer. The front desk offers you white chocolate whilst they process your check in.

The fixtures and the furniture in the rooms are rather dated. Feels almost like you are on the set of Days of Our Lives. However, they are relatively well maintained and kept (as far as the naked eye can tell) clean. No funky stains sighted on the sheets or the duvet. The balcony is a very nice touch and on the high floors, sitting for hours on the balcony reading a book can be very pleasurable. Wi-fi reception is spotty depending on which room you get. If you head to the business center in the lobby (just outside Citrine) you will have no problems at all reaching loved ones back home. The seafood buffet at Citrine is superb and though pricey, well worth at least one try. The daily breakfast buffet is quite a sumptuous spread and the friendly chefs are always there to whip up a fresh omelette for you.

The pool is lovely and one of the highlights of my trip. The towels supplied were clean and didn't have any sand in them. It's mostly a couples and parents with young kids crowd, so you are unlikely to feel uncomfortable with unsavoury types gawking at you. The hotel isn't located on any of the main broadwalks in Sufers Paradise, so you will need to commute by cab or car (which is ideal). That isn't necessarily a bad thing though. I was there during Schoolies Week and quite glad I didn't check into any of the other hotels on the promenade.

Room Tip: As for a room where the balcony faces the pool and the coast. You'll love the view.

We returned to the Marriott Surfers to enjoy the lagoon pool with my 8 year old daughter.
The experience is excellent. What's not excellent is that there seems to be loads of small charges for things, so bring your own mask and snorkel and fins and it will save you the annoyance. I would be better to have these things included in the tariff. Ten dollars to park your car seems annoying as well just add it to the room tariff,

We hired a pool lounger (Cabana) which was good but it was difficult to get service. The free chairs have little flags you raise for service, but I had to go looking every time. So we would have spent a lot more money by the pool had the service been better.
The room was clean, the hinterland view was excellent, I couldn't see $50 in a view of the ocean some 200 metres away past other building...
We took the buffet breakfast and as some one who has seen their share of Marriott breakfasts this one was not up to the quality of the others. It would seem that the kitchen relies on the reputation of the seafood buffet at the cost of the breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: The Hinterland rooms provide the best value.
