“Great for honeymooners!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2010

We stayed at Mantra Legends Hotel for our honeymoon. Surfers Paradise just less than 1 minute from this hotel. Our room given as facing the beautiful beach and we can even see the sunrise from our room.

The amenities in the room are perfect! Microwave, cooking utensils, electric stove, dish washer. Within walking distance to shopping malls, cafes, restaurants.

went to gold coast for a business conference, in November, yes, during schoolies!!!

Location - excellent location, right outside is the main road, short walk to cavill mall (shopping), huge beach and heaps of restaurants/ nightclubs/ bars/ IGA supermarket that open til late, all very nearby. In fact the conference I was attending was held at another hotel and it was much further away from the buzz of surfers, and it was much more expensive, so glad I found this Mantra Legends instead.

Service - reception staff are always polite & very helpful with advise on where to find good food, supermarket and gave me free map and marked everything clearly. after check out they also stored by luggage at no extra charge and when I return to pick them up, every staff I spoke to were always polite & helpful.

Value - at $99 a night during peak season it was really a bargain.

Room / Facility - hotel has swimming pool, internet terminal (not free), the room is spacious with 2 huge beds, room equipped with fridge, kettle, luggage space, writing desk & chair, ironing board, small safe, hairdryer, tv look very old though, no flat screen, bathtub has old fashion shower curtain, balcony has ocean view. overall is ok for a suppose to be 4 star hotel.

Sleep Quality - I slept really well probably cos I was exhausted from all day business seminars.. I think there were no schoolies allocated to my floor though, as I see them in the lifts & lobby all the time, but none of them ever got out at my level, and I never hear a thing. others I met at the conference who are staying at the other more expensive hotel say they have schoolies running up & down their corridors all night.. screaming & giggling.. and slamming/knocking doors constantly. didnt happen at mantra! phew.

Cleanliness - overall hotel and room is actually quite good, at least so I thought on the very first night. but on my return on 2nd, and again 3rd night, I discovered dirty / used coffee cups/ spoons not washed.. bath tub quite yucky with hair.. benchtop in bathroom has wet towel lying around.. hey this is not a backpackers/youth hostel!?!! very disappointed in that regard. also when i walk around bare foot I can feel the floor very dirty.. well i can see my feet turning dirty.. yew!!

Summary - well it was still a bargain find, in peak season, good location and good staff still made it a great choice. they could have done better with the cleaning service.

We booked on wotif and for $100 AUD it was perfect.

Pros-
Great service at reception
Great pool downstairs
One block to the beach and a few blocks to the main mall at surfers.
The restaurant served good food and service.
The girls on the bar actually new how to make a good machiato.
Concierge gave us honest advice on transport and getting around surfers.
Our room was clean and in great shape.

Cons-
The gym is pretty dodgy and old and pointless.
The hotel is strangely set at about 18 degrees C... god knows why.
NO FREE WIFI...in this day and age that is a disgrace (dodgy hotels in India and Japan had free wifi...move into the modern world.
No free movie channel... sorry but $18AUD to watch a movie when relaxing after dinner is also a sham and disgrace.

Would I return?? For 100 bucks.. you bet.

We stayed for 4 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment. The rooms were very clean and the bed comfortable and the area quiet. It was only a couple of blocks away from Cavil Av in Surfers. Close to walk but far enough away from the hussle and bussle of Cavil Av and the noise of the nightclubs.

The hotel has a nice pool and a gym located next to the pool. Did not eat at the hotel which has a seafood buffet but the foyer bar looked like a great place to have drinks. Many restaurants to choose from in the area. Many great lunch specials under $10. Tandoori Place Restaurant is across the road and I enjoyed the meal there.

If you need a airport transfer to and from Cooloongatta use the Translink Bus No 702. Much cheaper option than the airport shuttle.

After staying at the Mantra Eskine Beach in Lourne Vic my partner and I were worried this place would be the same and thankfully it wasn't. The MX paper had specials in Nov 09 for $99 a night so we took it. When we got there we where greeted by plesant staff and a room on the 17th Floor. To add to this we got a 2 for 1 special for a dinner and breakfast which we didn't know about but gratefully accepted. Like many reviewers I agree that it isn't a 4.5 star but for the price we got it for we didn't care, plus we where out more than being in. All in all we both were happy with our stay there. The seafood buffet was a bit rich at $52 each for what was on offer and being a chef I wasn't overly impressed with what was on offer. Schmuchers Chocolate Fudge whipped with Cream is NOT Chocolate Mousse. But thats a minor thing. The room was clean, we had 2 double beds, the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner and maintained (busted hairdryer on the wall and some mould on the tiles) and although there was a business conference on and a load of Japanese Students anything we asked for was delivered.

I will never go back here that is for sure.
It is suppose to be 4.5 star, who knows how or when they got that rating.

they gave us ONE king bed instead of 2 double beds, after telling them of the mistake, they claimed it wasnt there fault. even though the invoice clearly states, 2 double beds. they came up (about 4 hrs later) to seperate the king bed into 2 single beds.. well the sheets, we ended up having to literally move furniture to push our own beds apart. 2 shared one single bed and one on the FLOOR.
rubbish all on the balcony. Connecting doors to another room (with someones luggage in there) still unlocked. messages from previous customers on phone. room never serviced.

cockraoches and spiders in room. girlfriend got bitten by the spider and her whole shoulder was swollen.
overall, terrible.

Stayed at Legends during a business trip. Attentive and professional staff at reception. I had room on 17th floor with great view of the ocean. Room was clean and tidy. Decor was okay. No problems at all and you also have a fridge to keep your drinks in. Caution: Mini bar prices are very high !! Parking will cost you $15 a night. Superb location with a very short walk to beach and main area. Loads of great restaurants / bars / shops. Highly recommended.
