My husband and I recently stayed in an Ocean View room at Mantra Sun City. The view was fantastic. We had breakfast one day during our week long stay and breakfast average. The room was clean and had everything in it we needed. If we have one issue, the curtains in our room ( we were on the 30th floor) were sheer, which meant by 5.30am our bedroom was full of light so made sleeping in hard. Other than that we had a great time, it was far enough away from the centre of Surfers but close enough to enjoy the walk.

Room Tip: Pay the little bit extra for the Ocean View room, the view is great!

We had a lovely time staying at Mantra.
- The staff were very friendly and helpful
- The resort is just big enough to feel like you're not stuck in the highrise jungle of Surfers
- The rates are affordable considering the location and facilities
- The food was great, big all you can eat breaky and the dinner menu was of a quality standard. I'd suggest tasting the wine before they pour glasses.
- The rooms are a weeny bit shabby with chipped furniture but it's clean, airy, bright and good sized bathrooms and again, the cost makes it forgivable.
- The pool area is great fun, with many options for kids and grownups of all ages
- Well located and easy to get to the beach, shopping, resturaunts (good and low end of town) and theme park shuttles.

I took my seven year old grandson on a three day holiday and stayed in a hotel room, chosen because it included breakfast and I knew we would be out of the room for most of the day.
This hotel/resort was perfect for our needs. The staff were friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast in the restaurant excellent, providing a good range of hot and cold food, fruit, juices, etc. The pancake machine was a great novelty for the children.
The pool was a winner! The water slides gave hours of fun to the children, while the adults could relax on the sun lounges knowing there was a life guard on duty. There is also an indoor heated pool and spa, games room, sauna, bar, etc.
Unlike some hotel rooms, the rooms were not serviced daily, however, reception provided abundant towels, including beach towels, on request. Breakfast was included in the tariff.
I tried the restaurant for dinner on the first night, as we were tired from the flight from Melbourne The atmosphere was nice, and the service excellent, but the food was disappointing.
Perhaps next time I would take an apartment rather than the hotel room. They seemed spacious and sunny but the hotel room was certainly adequate, with balcony, fridge, flat screen T.V., etc.
This is a relaxed, pleasant, family friendly hotel offering good value for money.
Hint: Airport bus passes the door and runs half hourly direct to the airport. As compared to the shuttle transfer from the airport, this was excellent value at $8.00 for myself and a child, and took about the same time as the shuttle.

Hi Melbourne Sally,
What a lovely review of our property. Thank you.
I am thrilled that you and your grandson were impressed with your accommodation and also the facilities and services we offer.
Our units are quite large and do afford extra room for children. We now also have rates on our units which include breakfast, the same as you had in the hotel room.
Great tip for traveller regarding the airport bus, excellent service and value.
I look forward to welcoming you and your grandson back when next you take him on a holiday to the Gold Coast.
Sincerely,
Michael W Murtagh

Do NOT stay in this hotel if you are expecting a Hotel service. It is NOT a proper hotel as I know it.
Yes they have ‘Hotel’ rooms but they are un-serviced meaning that unless you pay extra (35 Australian dollars - every day), you have to make the beds, change the towels, empty your own rubbish and wash up in the bathroom sink (They do provide washing up liquid though!). If you do want clean sheets on your bed, you will be charged extra for clean ones although towels are free to change but you do have to take them down to reception. Likewise if you need more tea or coffee etc you have to ask reception for it. None of this was made clear to us when we booked it and there is certainly nothing obvious on their website to explain it (although we did find it later in the small print). We have never stayed in a hotel which is un-serviced and were bitterly disappointed.

The ‘Resort’ (as it was described to us when we complained) appears to be mainly a block of apartments with self catering facilities and it appears that some are also sub-let. The balcony 2 floors below ours had 3 bikes and a rusty Barbeque on it which was not what you expect to see in a hotel.
The ‘Resort’ advertises that they have a bar and also a pool side bar, BUT the main bar is only open between 5 & 9 pm and the pool bar is ONLY open at the weekend from 12 till 5. Not much use when you are there mid week and fancy a drink or want to stay up later. We made good use of the Bottle shop across the road instead !
If you did want to go out for a drink or food, it was a good 20 minutes walk into the main Surfers Paradise area.
We did have one meal in the restaurant and found the food to be good and at breakfast there was a good choice although the poached eggs had obviously been sat round for a long time judging by their rubbery state.

My husband and I recently had a short stay at Mantra Sun city and absolutely loved it. We got a room that had fantastic hinterland views was modern, extremely clean and very spacious. It was a great price and real value for money.

The hotel itself had great facilities, we took advantage of the indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, tennis courts. We also loved relaxing by the pool with access to the pool bar and Friday and Saturday cocktail specials were real value for money, very relaxing friendly atmosphere. We loved the buffet breakfast at the restaurant and also enjoyed having dinner there. We found Saya's restaurant to have delicious food, apparently they had gotten a new chef a couple of months ago, we found his menu to have alot of great options, fine dining at a real value for money. The best scallops I have had. The restaurant had very friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

We also enjoyed the location, your not stuck right in the hustle bustle of Surfers with all the crowds and noise, but close enough to enjoy walks on the beach, access to great restaurants and a short stroll to the centre of the city. We found the location perfect.

Overall we had a fantastic trip with very friendly, helpful service from all staff we encountered. We had a great room and really enjoyed the hotel, we ended up spending alot of time their enjoying the facilities and restaurant and bars.

I have honestly stayed at quite a few places in Surfers and so far this one has been my favourite. Can't wait to go back :)
