Stayed at the Watermark Hotel for 3 nights last year for work. It is a lovely hotel with great views of the nearby Nerang River. Checkin/out is quick and the staff are friendly. The Watermark is just around the corner from the Q1 building (with observation deck) and a short 10 minutes walk to the famous Caville Ave shopping / entertainment area. On Wednesday and Fridays nights you can stroll through the Surfers Paradise beachfront Markets as well. Rooms in the hotel are comfortable and clean. The buffet restaurant (breakfast / dinner) serves tasty meals and has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. They have a delicious dessert selection (chocolate fountain, cake slices, ice cream). Highly recommended.

We recently stayed here as part of a larger wedding group, and I must say that my overall impression was a little disappointing.
Things started off very well. We were able to check in very early (10am), and were upgraded to a deluxe room with ocean views at no charge.
Our room had two double beds in it, which was our choice, however I found the space to be quite confined.
There was very limited storage space for clothes - two drawers and hanging space, but only 8 coat hangers.
The bathroom was a reasonable size, with a shower, single sink and loo, however I wouldn't call it spectacular. The bath towels were large - this always make me happy.
Our room had ocean views, however also looked right into Q1.
We were advised of the $15 per night parking charge upon check-in. This was somewhat surprising at a hotel of this caliber, however understandable considering the central location and lack of off street parking. The parks were easy to get in and out of, but extremely difficult to find. On two occasions we had to have our car valet parked off site (thankfully at no extra cost) as there were no parks at our location.
The location of the hotel was very good - quite close to the beach and to Cavill Ave.
The construction surrounding the hotel made it difficult to access, however that is a short term inconvenience.
We used the spa as a group, and whilst the treatment was amazing, the organization of the group booking was somewhat haphazard. Our group of 8 was handled as two groups of 4, as pre-arranged, however it all got a little confusing.
Of the 8, 4 of us arrived prior to our start time, the remaining 4 either at the start time or just after.
The first 4 of us got changed into robes ready for our treatment, however for some reason the other 4 people (the ones that arrived later than us) received their treatments first, while the first 4 were directed to a relaxation area where we waited for an hour or so before our treatments. Seems kind of backwards to me, especially as the second group of 4 were hurried along as they were late.
The treatment as mentioned earlier was great.
Our package had a light meal included for all 8 of us, however when we were seated the table was only set for 5. We had to ask for addition glasses and cutlery.
Two of our group had steak, and we had to ask for steak knives.
We were also supposed to receive complimentary champagne, which we again had to ask for.
I expected, and should have received more from a 5 star establishment.
The wedding that we were in town for went off without any issues - the wedding co-ordinator (Sarah?) and her team did an extraordinary job. The reception was beautifully decorated, and the banquet staff could not be faulted.
From pre-dinner drinks and canapes right through to the dying moments, everything ran smoothly. Would highly recommend as a wedding venue.
A mixed experience all round. Would probably return, however would explore either a larger room on the other side of the hotel (away from Q1), and one with less beds.

We stayed at Watermark for a wedding last weekend. Our room was facing the mountains which I believe is a much nicer view than the other side of the building which looks directly at Q1 with only minimal ocean views. The room was a standard size and had all the usual amenities you'd expect. The aircon was sub-zero which was great because the afternoon sun after about 4:30pm made the room cook! The mattresses on the beds were a bit iffy though. I think they were almost at the end of their service life and they weren't very thick. I still got a reasonable night's sleep, however it wasn't an "amazing" night's sleep. We had drinks down in the lobby bar and the prices were surprisingly good (being from Melbourne, pretty much anything less than $10 is a cheap drink!). Breakfast in the buffet is good quality, and the omelette chef does great work, however for the price, it wasn't THAT spectacular. I believe I could get as good a breakfast with a $4 bacon and egg roll from the shop over the road. The location of the hotel is great and only a short walk to Cavill Ave, but far enough away that you don't get too much of the riff raff at night. The Spa, on report from my Wife, is a tad pricey, but the service you get is great, and she walked out feeling a lot more relaxed, so I guess that's what the objective is. The staff at the hotel were all extremely helpful and always happy to assist, even with a large wedding group such as us. I would definitely consider staying here again were I to need somewhere to stay on the Goldie (though I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Gold Coast in general).

Room Tip: I'd recommend the west-facing rooms as the ocean view rooms don't really get much of an ocea...

Wow the view from our room was beyond our expectation! Had enjoyed the breakfast @ the Waves and the Club Lounge service was great. The staff were accomodating and absolutely friendly. Thanks to Angela, Paula & Susan from the front desk, you guys are hospitable and helpful. I would like to say thank you to Jenny from the Lounge who arranged for my birthday cake, it was so special! I must say all the staff we met were fantastic!
I have already advertised your great hotel to all my friends...my husband and I will be back next year.

By the way, we stayed in this hotel from the 25th to the 29th of April 2013.

Location is excellent. It's about 200 m to the nearest bus stop and it's really convenient to take a bus to the most of the theme parks. Price is much cheaper than when using taxis or shuttle busses. Going back to the airport by a public bus is really easy. For a family, the spot is good since it's far enough from the schoolies' "activity centers", so it's fairly quiet and peaceful.
Small swimming pools are good enough for 1 to 10-year-old kids.
The W Lounge privileges are a good deal for a family, even though the evening treat is quite minimal, if you're not on drinking mode.
If service was better, this hotel would easily be 4 stars. They also should have a free WiFi.

Room Tip: De Luxe rooms - higher the better.

We stayed 24-29 April with our 5 year old daughter who recently had a hear Op.Excellent greeting and clean hotel. We decided to upgrade to the club, called W Lounge after having a look. First day was excellent, continental breakfast and friendly staff, special mention about Jenny in the W Lounge, what an asset to the staff. 1st morning met Lagri who from the word go appeared to dislike kids. Nobody in the Lounge and she wanted the TV volume lower incase people came. Another family came and she did t want the kids sitting on the floor to hear the TV! They were not in a corridor but by the TV. Day 2 she took the remote away! When asked she repeatedly lied saying Andrew the manager told her 'no TV while you are in Surfers'. Andrew later apologised. Next day the TV remote was there but it was turned off t the wall. Again Lagri said no Tzv before 10am! This is the time when kids programmes are at their best! Our comments were mysteriously ripped out of the guest book in the lounge and when we initially asked for the General Managers details we were only given the Guest Services Manager! Is this a cover up? Wiping the charges was very nice Andrew but really, a sincere apology would help also. Very sad.

The staff member mentioned usually receives fantastic feedback from our guests. However, we have recently changed the policies in W Lounge to allow children and as a result of your feedback we will be retraining all staff on family use of the lounge. This is the 3rd time this year we have stayed here. The first time we stayed here we were in a older room thank god out TV didn't work and got upgraded to a refurbished room. The original room was old and run down. We since then have always made sure we have refurbished room. Our recent visit we got free upgrade which we were very happy about. Love the refurbished rooms,I hope all rooms get refurbished. Overall a really beautiful hotel feel very relaxed when I'm at the Watermark very Kid friendly which I love and appreciate. Can't wait for our next visit.
