Watermark Hotel & Spa Gold Coast

We booked a 2-night package stay here just before Christmas. Our deluxe room was clean and spacious with a comfortable king sized bed. We ordered some extra pillows off the pillow menu which was great. We had an ocean view room which also was mostly a view of Q1, but that's okay.

The swimming pools were small and were chilly even in summer coz of the winds. Our 18-month toddler still managed to enjoy herself though.

Our package came with a buffet breakfast on 2 mornings. It was the same on both days. The spread was decent (though it would be nice to have a wider selection of fruits) and the omelette station was great.

The location of the hotel is convenient with an easy walk to the restaurants and shops in Surfer's Paradise.

Overall our family had a very good stay at the hotel and we would recommend it to others.

Having stayed at the Watermark a couple of years ago, it was a great coming back. The new games room and pillow menus were great, as is the 'W Lounge' package option. Also loved the smart tv in our room!

Thank you for such excellent feedback and the opportunity to host you again. The W Lounge has been very popular since opening and guests often comment that it really is great value for money. We are really glad you enjoyed the games room and smart TVs, which are some of our hotel’s new additions. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel again one day.

I stay at the watermark on a regular basis for business.

It's my first choice of hotels on the Gold Coast.
Their service is fantastic, I book directly with their super helpful and always obliging reservations agent "Karina" who always locks away my fave room for me (no other hotel does this for me)

The hotel is spotlessly clean, reception and duty managers are always highly professional and polite.

The rooms are compact, but very well equipped. And best of all, the rooms are very quiet, and the beds are incredibly comfy. As a business traveler, the ability to sleep is paramount to me!

Stayed here last week, and was as happy as my previous stays.

Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a quiet, low key and professional establishment

We are fairly regular visitors to the Watermark as we always enjoy the location, hotel and its staff. A couple of days here always feels like a weeks holiday. This time was no exception, but because it was my birthday, we indulged a little by staying on the top floor in a Premier Suite with it own spa area. Pure luxury and the only regret it was for one night. We ate in the Amalfi restaurant and I simply can't understand why this restaurant is not solidly booked out. The meals, ambience, food standard, wine choice and staff are all of a very high standard. The next morning there was a small issue over a slow breakfast delivery and the manner in which the hotel's Guest Services Manager rectified the issue to our complete satisfaction, underscores just how much this hotel really, genuinely care for their guests and deliver a memorable experience while staying at the Watermark.

Room Tip: Indulge yourself and book the Premier Suite!

Stayed at the Watermark Hotel for 3 nights last year for work. It is a lovely hotel with great views of the nearby Nerang River. Checkin/out is quick and the staff are friendly. The Watermark is just around the corner from the Q1 building (with observation deck) and a short 10 minutes walk to the famous Caville Ave shopping / entertainment area. On Wednesday and Fridays nights you can stroll through the Surfers Paradise beachfront Markets as well. Rooms in the hotel are comfortable and clean. The buffet restaurant (breakfast / dinner) serves tasty meals and has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. They have a delicious dessert selection (chocolate fountain, cake slices, ice cream). Highly recommended.

We recently stayed here as part of a larger wedding group, and I must say that my overall impression was a little disappointing.
Things started off very well. We were able to check in very early (10am), and were upgraded to a deluxe room with ocean views at no charge.
Our room had two double beds in it, which was our choice, however I found the space to be quite confined.
There was very limited storage space for clothes - two drawers and hanging space, but only 8 coat hangers.
The bathroom was a reasonable size, with a shower, single sink and loo, however I wouldn't call it spectacular. The bath towels were large - this always make me happy.
Our room had ocean views, however also looked right into Q1.
We were advised of the $15 per night parking charge upon check-in. This was somewhat surprising at a hotel of this caliber, however understandable considering the central location and lack of off street parking. The parks were easy to get in and out of, but extremely difficult to find. On two occasions we had to have our car valet parked off site (thankfully at no extra cost) as there were no parks at our location.
The location of the hotel was very good - quite close to the beach and to Cavill Ave.
The construction surrounding the hotel made it difficult to access, however that is a short term inconvenience.
We used the spa as a group, and whilst the treatment was amazing, the organization of the group booking was somewhat haphazard. Our group of 8 was handled as two groups of 4, as pre-arranged, however it all got a little confusing.
Of the 8, 4 of us arrived prior to our start time, the remaining 4 either at the start time or just after.
The first 4 of us got changed into robes ready for our treatment, however for some reason the other 4 people (the ones that arrived later than us) received their treatments first, while the first 4 were directed to a relaxation area where we waited for an hour or so before our treatments. Seems kind of backwards to me, especially as the second group of 4 were hurried along as they were late.
The treatment as mentioned earlier was great.
Our package had a light meal included for all 8 of us, however when we were seated the table was only set for 5. We had to ask for addition glasses and cutlery.
Two of our group had steak, and we had to ask for steak knives.
We were also supposed to receive complimentary champagne, which we again had to ask for.
I expected, and should have received more from a 5 star establishment.
The wedding that we were in town for went off without any issues - the wedding co-ordinator (Sarah?) and her team did an extraordinary job. The reception was beautifully decorated, and the banquet staff could not be faulted.
From pre-dinner drinks and canapes right through to the dying moments, everything ran smoothly. Would highly recommend as a wedding venue.
A mixed experience all round. Would probably return, however would explore either a larger room on the other side of the hotel (away from Q1), and one with less beds.

Thank you for your feedback. Please be assured our parking charges are comparable with other 4.5 star hotels in the area. We would like to offer our apologies for the inconvenience you experienced at our day spa. L’Aqua is almost always a highlight for guests staying in the hotel and we successfully host many hens and wedding groups at the spa. We would like you to know that your comments were discussed internally and measures have been taken to ensure this does not occur with any groups again. We hope to welcome you back to the Watermark Hotel & Spa.

We stayed at Watermark for a wedding last weekend. Our room was facing the mountains which I believe is a much nicer view than the other side of the building which looks directly at Q1 with only minimal ocean views. The room was a standard size and had all the usual amenities you'd expect. The aircon was sub-zero which was great because the afternoon sun after about 4:30pm made the room cook! The mattresses on the beds were a bit iffy though. I think they were almost at the end of their service life and they weren't very thick. I still got a reasonable night's sleep, however it wasn't an "amazing" night's sleep. We had drinks down in the lobby bar and the prices were surprisingly good (being from Melbourne, pretty much anything less than $10 is a cheap drink!). Breakfast in the buffet is good quality, and the omelette chef does great work, however for the price, it wasn't THAT spectacular. I believe I could get as good a breakfast with a $4 bacon and egg roll from the shop over the road. The location of the hotel is great and only a short walk to Cavill Ave, but far enough away that you don't get too much of the riff raff at night. The Spa, on report from my Wife, is a tad pricey, but the service you get is great, and she walked out feeling a lot more relaxed, so I guess that's what the objective is. The staff at the hotel were all extremely helpful and always happy to assist, even with a large wedding group such as us. I would definitely consider staying here again were I to need somewhere to stay on the Goldie (though I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Gold Coast in general).

Room Tip: I'd recommend the west-facing rooms as the ocean view rooms don't really get much of an ocea...
