“Great views.”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

My Husband and I stayed here for our anniversary, we booked a bit last minute and had trouble finding decent affordable places due to it being indy weekend. Check-in was easy, the parking is great, plenty of parks and easy walk to the lifts. The room was great, spacious, great big bathroom, nice and light with floor to ceiling windows, and an amazing view out to the ocean. The balcony was interesting, just wide enought to fit 2 chairs facing each other and a small table, but it was still great to have to look out at the view. The staff were a little slow at assisting, however I think this was due to how busy it had been with the indy happening. All in all however a great weekend!

Check in was efficient and staff were helpful. The beds were comfortable and the room was nice and quiet. The staff were pleasant and efficient. It is an older hotel but still quite pleasant.

I normally love staying here but my latest stay has me looking for an alternative for my next trip to the Gold Coast.
Check-in was efficient and the staff were really nice and helpful.
We were on the 3rd floor, perhaps the lower you stay the lower the standards of cleanliness are. After reading a review on here about checking towels, I thought I'd amuse myself and do just that after showering-I'm glad I did because there were stains on the towel. For a hotel this size I doubt it is that hard to replace A towel.
When we returned the next afternoon, it was almost as if there was no effort put into the bathroom. You know how you walk in after housekeeping has been and you can tell towels have been changed and toiletries replaced? It looked like they had grabbed the new stuff and just chucked it down.
After sitting in the room for about 15mins we noticed a trail of ants marching across one of the double beds, so after squashing them(and leaving them so housekeeping could see them), we rang for them to come change the bed.
It was raining while we stayed here so never went on the balcony, which was good because it was really small.
Breakfast downstairs was alright, staff were great.
Room service was okay, efficient.

Stayed in the Gold Tower for a couple of days for business.

The Room
Lot of space, with a separate toilet. Clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable. Direct view on the Coral Sea from the balcony. No free internet connection, it's actually pretty expensive. Wired and wireless connections are on different price plans.

The Location
Not far from the beach, however not central location. No restaurants within walking distance, but free underground parking spaces.

Pleasantly surprised by:
- the view from the balcony, and the chairs inviting you to sit and enjoy for few minutes
- the back access of the hotel to a less busy street, bringing you closer to the beach

Unimpressed by:
- the unstaffed lobby, forcing you to check-in/check-out at the main tower
- the lack of fast checkout as bill is not slided under your door

My husband booked a surprise weekend away for my family. We stayed in room 815, which was a 1 bedroom King Suite with a spa bath. We had a corner outlook towards Surfers Paradise and the northerly aspect of the beach. The room was really spacious. There was a tv in the living room and in the bedroom which was handy. The little extras are what makes this Hotel a lovely place. There were about 5 different current magazines in the room to read. There was also lovely tea, coffee, hot chocolate sachets and biscuits provided in the room. The housekeeping staff were extremely friendly and efficient. I asked for an extra hot chocolate sachet for my daughter and the lovely lady returned with 4 sachets and some extra biscuits for my daughter which was very kind of her. The King Bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen in the room looked new and even had a combination washer/dryer which would be handy for longer stays. The view from the room and 2 balconies was stunning, particularly at night. There were 2 different pools and we tested out both.We had the pleasure of ordering some yummy cocktails by the pool and they were reasonably priced and arrived swiftly. The highlight of our stay was the breakfast we had on Sunday in the revolving restaurant called "Four Winds" . My daughter in particular was spellbound by the view and the fact that we were constantly moving. The staff at Crown Plaza were very professional and friendly. I can't wait to stay here again. We stayed in the Gold Tower.

Room Tip: Ask for a high level room in the Gold Tower.

The rooms were sound proof, balcony was too TINY, nice views. highly recommend the 4 winds restaurant on the 26th floor. reception were kind of rude, but rest of service was great. pool was too cold.. could have just been me. i agree it is outdated, position isn't too great if you dont have a car. enjoyed our stay, given the great price we got from a mystery wotif deal :)

Room Tip: we were on the 18th floor, very good view.

My husband and I booked a 10 night stay here through need it now as a secret stay room. We were put in room 1411 and had a wonderful view. The room was very clean and quite spacious and the beds were very comfy.
The room was serviced daily, we found all the housekeeping staff very nice and they did a great job in refreshing the towels and cleaning the bathroom as well as vacuuming and restocking the tea and coffee sachets daily. Upon arrival we had a card welcoming us and the room was spotlessly clean.
This hotel is two blocks from the beach so a short walk and away from the hustle and bustle of Surfers which was a plus for us. It was only a short drive to all Theme Parks and shops.
The staff were all quite knowledgeable and very willing to help with any enquiries. They provide pool towels which was a bonus as it was rainy for the first few days and the spa was a godsend.
We have stayed in Surfers before but have found this hotel to be the best value for having such a great room. Would love to stay there on our next trip there and will be writing a letter to the manager with our thanks for such a great stay
