“Efficient, very clean but lacks warmth”
Reviewed 14 July 2012

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for one night. The room was large and spotlessly clean, very quiet, and it was nice to have a balcony to sit out and enjoy the sunset. The hotel is just blocks from the beach. My only complaint is about the customer service. The staff were not very warm in receiving us at reception. More training should be provided to the reception staff, because the man I spoke with about finding a restaurant for dinner told me we would have to take a 10 - 15 min. bus ride over to the mall; fortunately another staff member overheard and told us that there were two good restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast is very expensive, and although I told them that my reservation through Booking.Com stated breakfast would be included, the staff would not budge, and so we chose to go elsewhere for breakfast. Our stay was ok, but could have been much more pleasant with friendlier, more helpful cusomer service.

I have just returned from a 2 night stay with my adult daughter for her birthday treat, and specialist medical appointments on the coast. Being a member of the Priority Privilege Club, I took advantage of a 25% off voucher for a 2 double beds superior ocean view room. We could not fault our stay and the service received, and I will certainly be returning in the future with my husband for another getaway, hopefully with better weather next time, although this did not detract from our Mother/Daughter time and our stay in this classy hotel.
Check-in: Most welcoming and very quickly done, booking details brought up immediately, acknowledged as club member, very efficient and friendly staff, late checkout offered without asking - he must have known I was going to ask... Everything explained without asking, all completed within minutes and we were on our way.
Parking: Free undercover parking - no problems finding a park at any time, close to the lifts, and generous sized bays.
The Room: Exactly as per booking and expectations, high floor (21st) as requested with fantastic ocean views (even though the hotel is not absolute beachfront, the view was wow), 2 very comfy double beds, room was spotlessly clean and no odours (I am very fussy and pedantic about cleanliness and could not fault it) - congratulations to the hardworking housekeeping staff !! Spacious, light filled hotel room with triple wardrobe space, shelving and decent hangers including a few skirt/trouser hangers, flat screen TV, table and 2 chairs, chest of drawers, the usual fridge, mini bar (not used), glasses, well stocked tea and coffee facilities and the jug was clean - thank you. Small balcony with 2 chairs and a little table - not huge but adequate for our purposes and nothing larger was required, large sliding glass door to gaze at the view. Extra pillows and blanket in the wardrobe, iron and ironing board, decent hair dryer. Bathroom was also spotless and a very good size, separate shower, corner bath, not a spa but good size for a soak and glass of wine, quality toiletries, thick fluffy clean and fresh towels.
Hotel Services: Unfortunately this trip we did not have time to take advantage of the hotel's facilities or restaurants, but did phone housekeeping for a plate and knife and they were delivered within minutes of our call.
Noise: Very quiet with regards to street noise, absolute silence with the doors shut at night. You can hear the ocean though.
Position: Terrific, away from the busy centre of Surfers Paradise but still close enough, walking distance to the numerous gourmet delights of Broadbeach and shopping precinct, takeaways and of course the beach.
Overall our expectations of the hotel were quite high and we were certainly not disappointed in the least. We are looking forward to returning in the near future, trying more of the facilities and taking in the views and delights of the revolving restaurant. The friendly service and smiles from staff we encountered throughout the hotel, from reception to the concierge to a chance meeting in the hallway or lift contributes to the overall ambience of this quality hotel. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Superior ocean view room, 2 double beds, 21st floor, room 2110 this stay

My best friend and I stayed in the gold tower crown towers back in may 2011. Upon checkin we were greeted by the friendly checkin staff andy the main lobby reception who directed us to our lift well to the other tower where we were staying. The room was larger than we originally thought and the balcony had a beautiful view out over the ocean. The king bed was very comfortable, but as for the fold out sofa bed. It was nothing to write home about. The room was cleaned in the mornings whilst we were out and coming home to a freshly cleaned room was nice. There were pool towels provided for us and the pool and spa was great as it was pro ate and separated from the main tower. The revolving restaurant was fabulous and the concierge had a great knowledge of the surrounding area and organized transport for our departure from the gold coast.
Room service is quite overpriced for a crowne hotel, (I regularly use Adelaide and Perth Crowne) but there are plenty of good local restaurants nearby. Overall it was a great stay and I have recommended it to all of our friends after our brilliant experience there.

Took a chance on one of those mystery deals and was pleased with our choice. The hotel on paper looked great and we were excited to stay there. Upon our arrival we found it a little disappointing to find 4 staff on the front desk but only two serving guests - the other two were seemed to be preoccupied with some paperwork and were avoiding eye contact with the other guest and ourselves waiting in line. Our wait was for only a few minutes and after our long drive all we wanted to do was to get to our room.

We were on the 11th floor and loved the room as soon as we got there. The rooms are quite large on comparison to most hotel rooms, and the bathroom was no exception the only criticism I could say was we were supposed to have an "ocean view" according to the website when we booked - there is a very limited view of the ocean from our room.

We tried for a noon check out the next day as we were doing the Gold Coast Marathon, and were told it was not possible but we were offered use of the gym showers which we appreciated after the race.

Overall it was a great stay and we will return.

I was very pleased with the views. The service was quite good in the restaurants but the breakfast while vast was fairly ordinary. a little more care with the bacon and the eggs would be good. The pancakes however are quite well done.

Love this place! Reception staff are so friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. Cannot speak highly enough of the Four Winds Revolving Restaurant, always busy cos it's so good! Great choice of food and service is great too. Downstairs at the First Avenue bar is friendly atmosphere and you will always find some one to chat with. Rooms are great, especially the view from the balconies. Highly recommend this one.

Rooms were very large and the corner room I had featured a huge bathroom with large bathtub. Decor was modern with large flat screen TV and lots of storage space.

Did not try the pool area as weather was cold but it looked like it would be quite enjoyable during warmer months.

Do not stay here if you want to be in the heart of surfers paradise as its a 20 min walk probably more. However there is regular buses nearby.

Dear Aussie_Flyer_dotnet,
Many thanks for taking time to post your review.
I'm sorry you didn't have the opportunity to use either of our two pools as our Gold Tower pool is heated year round, and it's nice to sit in the spa when it's cool outside.
Thanks again and I hope we have the pleasure of your company again soon.
