Breakfree Peninsula
Reviewed 5 August 2012

We have stayed at the Peninsula many times, this visit was our first with our young son and we had another great time. 32nd floor - best views in Surfer's, one of my favourite things to do all year is sit on the balcony in the sun with a good book. Portacot was already waiting and was a very good one. Our son had a great time enjoying his first time in a pool which was nice and warm and we had it to ourselves every time. Staff were very helpful. Bed so comfortable we looked up the name of the mattress for future reference. Just a few little things - kitchen not especially well equipped; could do with some food storage containers and microwave cooking implements. Oven, microwave, fridge all excellent however. Would also like the ability to lock the balcony door with a key now that we have a little one in tow. Amazing value when travelling off-peak, we will be back yet again!

Room Tip: higher the better - rooms "A" have the best views.

Dear Nairina,

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

I am very happy to hear that you have stayed at Breakfree Peninsula many times and have always enjoyed your stay.

I have noted your suggestion about the kitchen equipment. The sliding balcony doors do have a patio bolt and keys are available at reception on request if you want to lock the same.

I fully agree with you that we do have spacious apartments with great views which offer amazing value for money.

I look forward to welcoming you and your family on your next visit to the Gold Coast.

We have regularly chosen the Peninsula since 1987 and it just gets better. It has excellent views and close to Cavill Mall.We can't fault the cleanliness of the rooms, the excellent facilities and the friendliness of the staff. Our first stay in 1987 was with our three children and the latest in July 2012 with our grandson. We like the continuity and past connections with the Peninsula.Again a most enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We have stayed over the years in A,B and C rooms. Our preference is the B room views which best s...

We had a lovely stay at this slightly aging apartment complex and can't fault the service, pools etc. HOWEVER (no fault of management) I was talked into paying almost $30 per night more for the "deluxe" apartments for guaranteed views and renovation. Another family member had the standard room during the period we were staying at the Penninsula and frankly had a much better room and similar ocean views. I don't blame the management for this but the way rooms are booked. Wouldn't ever go deluxe again. Sadly due to the shonky upgrade I am only giving this place an average rating as I feel a little ripped off.

Room Tip: Don't be sucked into paying for deluxe.

This was the second time in 6 months we stayed at Breakfree Peninsula. When we arrived we were given the option of 3 apartment we could choose from. We chose the one that best suited our needs.

Facilities were excellent and clean and usual, the staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our stay. It was unfortunate that we happened to go to the Gold Coast in the wettest and coldest week in 20 years and we were all suffering from extremely bad colds/flu's.

The only negative thing that happened at the establishment was that due to the cold (and having an 18 month old) we requested a heater. It took repetative requests to get this and after a couple of days one appeared inside our front door. All good.

Overall the staff are great, especially Adill. They even helped us find the closest doctor for antibiotics!!!

Dear manbag111204,

Thank you for your feedback regarding you recent stay with us.

I am pleased to hear that this is your second stay with us within a span of six months and you had an enjoyable holiday. However, I am sorry to hear about our wet and cold weather conditions during the time of your stay. I hope that you have fully recovered from the bad cold/flu.

I have noted your comments about the heater which you requested. As we did not have one is stock, the same had to be ordered and took a couple of days.

I look forward to welcoming you and your family at Breakfree Peninsula on your next break to the Gold Coast.

We recently stayed on the 35th floor and loved the positioning of the apartment and the views were totally spectacular. As several of our party were sick we spent more time than expected in the apartment and it was very pleasant. Clean tidy and very high level of furniture and layout. Great location for all activities and staff were helpful in giving advice and directions for everything. Only frustration was the inability to access floors where other friends of ours were staying without having to all meet in the foyer each time to be escorted back. This was particularly busy with kids visiting other families all day long. if you are planning to stay with other groups request rooms on the same floors. We also were aware of wind noise through the joinery and it took a day or so to relax about that. Kids did want to throw things off the 35th floor and it would have been useful to have a key we could remove to stop them being opened.
Overall an excellent holiday and totally plan to return sometime.

Room Tip: We were on the land side of the building but had 180 degree views if not more. 35D. It was wonderful...

Dear Sue O,

Thank you for posting a detailed review about your recent stay with us.

I am very happy to hear that you had a wonderful family holiday. Guest feedback is an important tool for us to Know What Matters and to implement changes accordingly. I am delighted to hear your comments about our spacious, clean apartments with beautiful ocean views and our friendly & helpful staff.

In order to provide a safe and secured environment, access is restricted to the floor only on which your apartment is allocated. This is monitored by the Body Corporate to ensure that all guests and owners have a safe & secured stay at Breakfree Peninsula. However, we provide an additional security access fob (on request) when there are two families staying on different floors. Also, the balcony sliding doors have a patio bolt which can be key locked.

I do look forward to welcoming you and your family at Breakfree Peninsula on your next visit to the sunny Gold Coast.

Initially I was very disappointed with our apartment. Obviously, the complex is in the process of renovating apartments and we got an 80's style one with an oven that didn't work and didn't have trays to fit (although kitchen was spotless which I was grateful for). The bed in the master room was huge and comfortable but there were no extra blankets which given it was winter made for a cold night.

On the plus side, the lounge was very spacious and comfortable, foxtel was awesome, view was great, location was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the pools and spa. Also, we got a great deal on wotif.com - this is why I rated the property 4 stars rather than 3 - for the price you can't beat it!

Room Tip: Pay more for the deluxe room if you want to be guaranteed a deluxe room and not an 80's throwbac...
