“pubic hairs in the bathroom!!!!!”
Reviewed 22 June 2007

The 2 rooms we were allocated in this hotel were very worn
out and small. Chipped and broken tiles laminex. Cupboard
doors that fell off on my 10 year old son when opened.
Horrible decor and a real cheap feel.

Staff were unhelpful and rude. A terrible experience and we
checked out after an hour of arguments.

Both rooms we saw bear no resemblance to what is depicted
on the web site and I would suggest that the many poor
reviews for this hotel are correct.

I do not understand the positive ones!

The room I was allocated first was terrible!! Very outdated, dirty and depressing.......As soon as I put my bags down, I rang the reception & asked for another room. The manager came up to my room and questioned me as to why I wanted to change.....To me, it was obvious.....the room was not up to standard (which he could not understand). I should know because I have stayed at the Peninsula on many occasions. I explained to the manager that I was not happy with the room. He was not happy nor helpful or understanding....but eventually, he allocated me a room which had recently been re-furbished....Thank GOD!!!

Now, this room was fantastic....such a difference! It was on the 11th floor, which didn't bother me as the veiw was still fantastic.

The bathroom, kichen, living room and bedroom was clean. The furniture was comfortable & new.

The pool area (both outside & inside) was as good as ever. The BBQ area also looking very green & lush.

All up, I would stay there again, but I think the current prices (between $180 to 200 per night) is too pricey. I would be happy to pay more like $150 a night.

You can't beat the location. We had fantastic views from every room. Our room was also very quiet - we rarely heard any noise. The crashing surf views will take your breath away. The location is wonderful - you can walk to everything. The beach is on your doorstep. The only negative is the service from the staff on the front desk. The female on the desk was arrogant and dismissive. Aside from that, we had a fantastic time.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Peninsular hotel. I must say that due to Margaret in reception we will not be returning to this hotel. She was very arogant and had no customer service skills. I was not greeted when arriving at the hotel and was EXPECTED to know where the luggage room was. I did not chose to stay at this hotel but i know i never will again. Also if you advertise the room facilities please make sure they are actually in the room.

Stayed here on three occassions now and you just can't beat the location. Have stayed on the 18th, 12 and last week was on the 4th floor. From the 4th floor you can still see the ocean through the trees. Up on the 12th and 18th the view is just magic.

Most apartments in the complex are actually two bedroom apartments; if you order a 1 bedroom they simply lock the second bedroom and the ensuite bathroom in the main bedroom.

Each of the three different apartments I've stayed in have had huge living areas, a sufficient kitchen and a nice enough bathroom.

The complex is aging, but for the price, and the location on Surfers, it's value for money. 4 blocks south of Cavill Ave (main shopping street in Surfers) and directly opposite the huge Q1 tower, it's far enough away to get a good nights sleep if you don't want to hear the party atmostphere from Cavill and Orchard Ave (adjourning nightclub street to Cavill)

I head up to Surfers twice a year usually, and I'll continue to use the Peninsula for some time yet.

The Peninsula is in a fantastic location. Across the road from the beach and an easy walk to Cavill avenue and a huge number of shops and restraunts. We booked a 1 Br apartment and on arrival were upgraded to a huge 2 bedroom apartment which was really nice. There is no getting away from the fact that this is an 80's property. The decor is very dated however everything still worked fine so for us it wasn't an issue. The kitchen had everything you need and the bathrooms were fine. The only real disappointment was a lack of Airconditioning. If you left the windows open it was bearable but the room was like a sauna when returning from a day out. Views from the 36th floor are extraordinary. The pools and BBQ area were nice. Overall I'd say great for families and good value, if you want a romantic luxury getaway this is probably not the property.
