Description: Iran is a country with a diverse geography and ethnic population. It sits at the centre of the former Kingdom of Persia, one of the world's oldest continuous major civilisations. Iran forms a bridge between the Middle East and the Far East in the centre of the ancient Silk Road, a major trading route which goes back tens of thousands of years. Persian cuisine has influenced many world cuisines, and has absorbed elements from other cuisines as well. It's no surprise that Persian ingredients such as saffron, pomegranate and spinach have made their way into other cuisines! As ancient traders took their wares to the corners of the world, they traded goods, bringing back the eating habits and ingredients from Greece, Rome, Turkey, Russia and India. Today's Persian cuisine traces its roots to ancient Persian ingredients and recipes, and is enriched by the great tastes imported from the rest of the world!

I was out with my girlfriend on a date thought we would try something different. Never tried persain food before. The attendant was good and attended us well. The atmosphere was ok I guess. Taken back by the plastic on the table.not a quality marker. The food when it came out was very dry. Im not sure if thats what persian food is. But dry and flavourless is not what I would be trying to market. Watch out for the salty drink. Cant remember its name. Worth a try? Not twice.

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I regret that you didn't enjoy your time and food at Shiraz. I wish you had mentioned the name of the specific dish you tried to help us address the issue properly. As for the decor, I am very much surprised, to be honest! We spent more than 3 weeks to completely renovate and redecorate our restaurant (closing on on May 20 and just re-opened on June 15). Having listened to our previous reviewers, we changed the entire restaurant's furniture with brand new tables and chairs. As a result, we got rid of all plastic tables and covers and booths. This is why we were surprised that your review mentioned plastic tables and chairs! In case you wrote this review a month after your last visit to Shiraz, (before our renovation closure), I sincerely apologise for our less than appealing appearance then.

As for the Doogh (salty lassi), you're right. It tends to be an acquired taste and while some people will have nothing else with their kebabs, others may find it less appealing. We generally tend to mention this fact to customers who want to try it for the first time.

Always glad to address reviews from our valued clients.

Sincerely,
Erfan J

Compared to a lot of other places around gold coast you pay a lot for the area and location. Here you don't! It was great tasty food that fed us all and cost no more than $20 each.

We tried a variety of dishes and would say the mixed kebab plate was our favourite. Tender meat that was full of flavour. Tried the lamb shank which was good, although have had better.

I normally find Persian food a bit bland, it's like Turkish food just with not that much flavour.
Was impressed with the service, and the food.
I normally don't care if the service is average if the good makes up for it, but service and food were great!!!
A must for everyone..

My wife and I had never eaten authentic Persian food before. The flavours of the dishes and drinks are sensational and wonderfully different to Western fare. The service was charming and so quick. The entrees and main meals all arrived quickly, being neatly presented, hot and were good sized portions. The salty mint lassi was brilliant with the lamb shank ... and broad beans with the saffron rice is inspired!! It was an immense pleasure to spend some time after the meal with Erfan. He heads a great team of staff. His explanation of the history of Persia and its food was well worth listening to. The shop is clean, comfortable but somewhat unassuming. Like the genie bottle, the treasure lies within. We are looking forward to going back.
