My wife and i had an excellent 4 night stay at the Marrakech this September. The price we paid was very fair - much cheaper than similar standard apartments in the broadbeach area.
We had a 1 bedroom apartment. It overlooked the pool - a seaview costs another $20 a night. The room was very well presented and quite large. Tv in longe and another in the bedroom. The bathroom was clean.
We had lunch athe Kech restaurant - good value at $10 - $15. The pool area is very nice - heated in door and out door pools, spas anda sauna. The area though would become quite crowded in peak times.
The Marrakech is a 10 - 15 minute walk to the Broadbeach Dining area and a little more into surfers. The beach though is only a short walk.
We also highly recommend the Pink Poodle for a belgium beer and musscles.

We stayed 8 nights at the Marrakesh in July and would definately stay there again. Our apartment was north facing which gave us all day sun on our balcony, the apartment was very spacious and clean and there was plenty of wardrobes and storage spaces. The bed was a quite hard.
We found the staff to be always cheerful and helpful.
Security was of a very high standard, which is a must these days.
The location was great only a few minutes walk to the beach and only a 15 minute walk to either Broadbeach or Surfers. A very quite area, away from all the hussle and bustle.

My husband and I have just returned from our holiday, 3 days of which were spent at Marrakesh Apartments.
We flew in early in the morning, and the coach dropped us off at 9.30am. The staff were able to let us put our bags in the office and go for a wander until 2pm , when the rooms were ready.
We returned about 1pm, with tired feet, and were able to sit in the "Kesh Cafe and Bar" and have a quiet drink until rooms were released. The "Kesh "has a lovely atmosphere and menu, yummy food, and efficient staff.
We did not use the pool facilities, so are unable to comment.
We found our rooms spacious and well appointed, comfortable bed and lovely balcony. The kitchen had all the equipement one would want, and the cleanliness was excellent.
The staff were at all times, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient.
The fact that the bus stopped right out side the apartments was a huge bonus for us , as we had no vehicle, and it meant we could get around a bit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return again someday, we do not hesitate to recommend these apartments.

My partner & I stayed at the Marrakesh for 6 nights in Feb 08 and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived (having previously had some rude hotel shocks).

Although the building/furnishings were slightly dated, the overall presentation was great. Apartment was clean and offered all of the ammenities that you'd need. Only thing they need to clean was the aircon unit. It was long overdue.

Pool and garden area was particularly good and puts many of the more upmarket hotels to shame. There is both & indoor & outdoor pool and both have really good spas as well as a nearby sauna and gym area.

Rooftop BBQ area is also pretty sweet. Although our room didn't have ocean views, a quick trip to the top floor and the ocean vista is at your disposal.

Don't really have any major gripes. As previously stated, some bits of the building are a bit dated and in need of some paint, but for the price paid we both felt it represented great value and (if they keep the rates the same) we will stay again. Also was especially relaxing as it seemed to be more of an adults only space. Was nice to enjoy the pool etc without children screaming all the time (maybe we were just lucky on the dates we stayed!)

We had stayed at the Marakesh the previous year and found it quite satisfactory - spacious and clean, albeit a little dated. On this new occassion we were very disappointed with the standard of maintenance and cleanliness. Furnishings and carpet were worn and stained. The extractor hood in the kitchen was clogged with foul-smelling grease. The matress protector on the large bed was stained and torn. The outlet blades on the AC unit were covered in mould, and the outside walls - onto which the bedroom looked, were filthy with spider webbing, mould and dirt.

When we commented on this we were told the apartment could be cleaned for a fee. My email of complaint when we returned home received no reply.

I assume that this experience was indicative of the actual apartment owner's level of cleanliness, but it also reflects badly on the overall management.

The complex is well situated, being in a relatively quiet area and within easy walking distance of most local attractions, but following this experience we would never stay at the Marakesh again.

At the same time, it would appear from the reviews of more recent guests that there has been some form of re-furbishment

Stayed at the Marrakesh apartments in the first week of December 2007. Had a fantastic stay in a one bedroom apartment on the seventh floor with views towards the ocean and Surfers Paradise. We booked through the wotif website for a great price of $110 per night. Upon our arrival we were greeted by very helpful and courteous reception staff who made checking in a breeze.

The apartment was lovely, quite a good size for two people. Modern decor and appliances (including dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer) comfortable furniture (both bed and lounge) and lovely balcony overlooking the buildings of Surfers and the ocean. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, and the airconditioning was fantastic as the weather was very hot during our stay. Didn't hear any traffic noise or any other noise from any of the neighbouring apartments.

Location is great, far enough away from the hustle and bustle and subsequent noise of Surfers Paradise, but still within walking distance. A great peaceful location, a minutes walk to the beach and also just a short stroll down to the lovely cafes and shops of Broadbeach. Bus stop just outside the driveway, and a 30 second walk to the highway for other bus routes.

We found the pool and garden facilities to be great. Both outdoor and indoor pools and spas were very clean and enjoyable to use. Beautiful gardens with palm trees surrounding pool and outdoor areas. Didn't use it, but also a nice little gym with various equipment to use if so inclined. Rooftop garden provides fantastic views of almost 360 degrees.

Only visited the on-site 'Kesh' poolside Bar and Cafe once, for their buffet breakfast. Upon checkin we were given a 2 for one voucher for the breakfast which is usually $9.00 per person. There was a selection of self serve cereals, toast, fruit salad, yoghurt and mini muffins plus tea/coffee/juice. I don't think its great value if you were to pay $9.00 per person, but with the voucher making it $4.50 I found it quite a nice breakfast for the price.

Check out was at 10am, but a locked baggage room is provided by the resort so you can keep your suitcases there until you are ready to leave. Once again, on checking out the staff were very pleasant to deal with.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at the Marrakesh Resort. Based on our experiences I would recommend it to anybody, and will certainly stay again on our next visit to the Gold Coast.
