“Loved the apartment”
Reviewed 3 September 2011

We stayed on the 9th floor apartment facing the beach; it was a great view and breakfast on the balcony was cool!

We loved the apartment, especially the jacuzzi. It was very clean and almost had everything you needed for a few days! There were utensils in the kitchen for use which came in handy. There is a washing machine and a tumble dryer in the bathroom. The bathroom is spacious. There is huge window in the bathroom that looks out into the bedroom but there are blinds for privacy! Foxtel was available and the tv stand could swing round to be watched in bed or in the living area! High speed internet was available on an hour, or day etc basis, however it was expensive.

There were a few minor visible damages to the apartment, eg crack in the horizontal blinds and a broken spotlight but this did not bother us at all! We didn't use the facilities but did see them and they looked nice, a pool, a mini gym etc. The staff were not over friendly to us but did help us when required.

Location: one minute walk away from the beach: perfect! There are very frequent buses that take you into the esplanade. Takes about 15-20 mins walk. There is a corner shop and a few takeaway places nearby on the main road.

All in all, we were sad to leave the place!

Room Tip: Request for a high level apartment!

What A Great Place To Stay. If you go to the gold coast this is really worth considering. Haveing stayed in many places we at last found a truly friendly and very very clean place.Great security and facilities attention to detail and any request was tackled with a smile and not made to feel we were putting them out we say a huge thank you to all staff how much we appreciated your facilities and above all your friendliness we hope to be back in the near future

I stayed here for a business meeting close to the Convention Centre. It was about twenty minutes walk. I liked the fact that it was close, but not too close. In this respect it would be better for a longer rental (quieter) unless you are the type to get sick of walking everyday to the action. The room was well set up with everything you need - including oven, fridge, iron, toaster, heater, and a small balcony. Some of the drawers in the kitchen were a bit dirty. I didn't sit outside much because of the traffic, but it was enjoyable on a couple of nights. The bathroom is also quite large, with a spa. I found the shower the most disappointing thing - as the pressure wasn't very good. I also didn't sleep very well, but I don't know if it was the beds alone. It is also a self serviced apartment - so if you don't like taking out your own rubbish and buying your own toilet paper, then maybe it's not for you. The security is good. The reception was never open when I was there, but they are available at night on the phone. A friend who stayed with me said they were a bit weird to her with regards to the checking out process. If I was going for an actual short break as a holiday here, I would probably spend a bit more and stay a bit more towards the broadbeach area, however if you are after an affordable and maybe longer rental, you can't go wrong here.

Having read some great reviews on here we decided to stay at this 'resort'. The 'resort' was located near the beach (couple of small blocks away) and you could see and hear the ocean which was nice, espcially at sunrise. The apartments were adequately sized although the bedroom was small, especially with luggage in there as well.
The bathroom was odd as it had a large window (which thankfully had blinds) which meant you needed to keep the blinds shut most of the time or else be 'on display'.
It had a large kitchen with full facilities (oven, stove, fridge, cutlery, dishes). You do need to buy extras like toilet paper, washing powder and whatever else you need but thats not a bother and you should expect to buy these when staying at an apartment. Suggest you utilise the washing machine provided in the apartment and wash your towels and clothes as they dry in no time as the air is very dry.

Sitting on the large balcony is nice and relaxing and you have privacy from the adjoining apartments too as they curve around slightly. The road (Surf Pde) is busy so you do get the traffic noise, even on the higher floors. The bus to Pacific Fair (shopping mall) goes right past the 'resort' and the stop is just around the corner. It also travels the other way into Surfers Paradise.

However, be wary of the staff as the manager Cathy was rude from the moment we arrived. Having gone back and looked at some of the average/poor/terrible comments made about this 'resort' I can see we were not alone. She just about ignored us on arrival and we were made to feel like an inconvenience. We were told absolutely nothing about the 'resort' and its facilities. We sometimes needed advice about local restaurants or how to get somewhere but decided against asking reception because of her rudeness and instead asked other guests or asked at the information centre in town. Thankfully we had also been to Gold Coast before so had prior experience. Also agree with other comments made that we felt uncomfortable walking through reception when Cathy was there as she always had her eyes on you. It beggars belief when I read some other comments stating she was so kind, helpful and wonderful - I wondered if we were talking about the same person. James was much more pleasant to deal with. If you are happy to ignore the rudeness of Cathy (as we had to) and you're not spending all your daytime at the apartment then your stay should be enjoyable.

Room Tip: Try to get 6th floor or higher with ocean view or other side if you want afternoon sun

I stayed at Surf Parade Resort with my partner for 7 nights in July, 2011. We stayed on the 7th floor, ocean view. We were beside the apartments which faced directly to the ocean, but the view was still amazing. Getting up early enough, you can watch the sunrise and even spot whales far out in the distance.
The location of Surf Parade resort is very convenient, being one block away from the beach, and an easy walk along the beach for about 20 minutes to reach the main shopping centres of surfer's paradise. You are able to catch the 750 public bus from surfers which stops in front of this hotel. This bus can also take you to seaworld and broadbeach (Jupiters casino, Dracula's restaurant etc).
A block away from this hotel is 4 winds revolving restaurant, a seafood buffet, which is a must go since this hotel offers half price on the buffet!
My partner and I loved to have our own personal spa and the ability to look out to the ocean while using the spa.
Facilities of this hotel was great: public pool, spa, gym and sauna.
During our stay we did use room service twice and it was very straight forward and fairly quick.
Furnishings in our apartment were fairly clean and showed no signs of wear and tear, however it was a bit disappointing to see scuff marks and even cracks in our wall of our bedroom. The grouting in the bathroom wasn't very clean and insides of bathroom drawers showed signs of water damage, being stained orange/brown.
At reception, there are plenty of pamphlets to read and discover what to do, there are plenty of things to do! Booking tours and shuttles was very easy, as during enquiry with Cathy (manager) she booked the tours for us right away.
Booking this hotel, it was very easy to haggle and we ended up getting a great value for money in the end :)

Overall, we did have a very enjoyable stay, this hotel is in a great location, easy to get to and from big tour spots, and our apartment was fully equipped. I recommend to stay in a room on higher floors on ocean side, if you want the best views.

My husband and i stayed here for a 10 night period for our honeymoon, and loved every minute of it! right from the start Cathy at the front desk was extremely helpful, from arranging for our room to be ready for us 2 hours early without us even asking to helping my husband organise a suprise trip to jupiters for dinner and a show.

The room was spacious, with wonderful views. The kitchen proved handy, as did the bbq out by the pool for when we had had enough of eating out.and who can complain with a spa bath in the room!

We could not find a fault with our trip to the surf parade resort, and when we go back to the gold coast area (one trip is never enough!) booking in at this hotel will be the first thing we will do.
