we stayed here over xmas 08, thinking we would be staying in 5 star rooms, we were very wrong.
it was like somebody had lived there for years without cleaning it once. we had snot on the pillow cases, broken glass and cigarette butts on the balcony, mould in and around the bathroom, so much hair caught in the drain in the bath, wet carpet, the dishwasher made me want to be sick it smelt so bad.
These weren't the only things wrong, one of the lifts was faulty and i had pushed my one year old baby into it. then i was waiting a moment for my other daughter to get in, while this was happening the lift doors started closing i thought for sure they would open but they didnt and i had to let go of the pram, and my baby got taken down the lift by her self, not impressed at the maintaince of this property at all.
i also met somebody i knew from my home area and she was so disappointed with her room she cried.
We chose this property because the photos looked amazing, we paid a lot of money for this place and we were extremely disappointed.

My family and my daughter's family booked through different agencies, we paid the same, ours booked through gold coast accomodation, her's booked elswhere. Her family were treated wonderfully and leased a beautiful appartment, we were treated poorly and given a dirty, unsafe unit ( not the same apartment guaranteed and emailed to us).
The grounds are immaculate, the pools and bbq's spotless, although the heated indoor pool wasn't very warm. The unit hallways are not airconditioned and very stuffy, making it very uncomfortable on the sometimes long wait for a lift. We had children between 3 and 12 as well as 5 adults, and there was something for everyone. The kids loved the pools and games room and the gym was well supplied.
While the grounds were fantastic, you need to be very careful with the apartments, it seems privately owned units are run down and not even worth one star. Reception are rude and not helpful at all, however if the unit is booked directly through them, then they are obligated to help you.
Parking is ample and the small shopping complex underneath is very useful. Security guards are very pleasant and should be commended on the good service and politeness, much more helpful then reception.
The complex is in the heart of surfers, great if you love the night life but very noisy.
Unfortunately the poor quality of our apartment and those of our friends that had visited previously has distroyed the reputation of the chevron to us.
The chairs on the balcony were broken and collapsed on the day we arrived contributing to severe back pain for my husband, the were replaced eventually however the pain prevented my husband from enjoying the theme parks.

  • Liked — The fantastic facitlties and magnificent grounds
  • Disliked — It was dirty, rundown and very unsafe

This place absolutely Rocked. The apartment, the views, the facilities all were AAA++ . The pools were absolutely perfect. The access to the unit was a dream and best of all the LIFTS were super super fast. For such large buildings their were no wait time for the lifts, most of the time they were at our service within a minute of hitting the button. Access to shopping centre below(coles) and in being right in the heart of the action, this place is by far the best place we have EVER stayed. One thing I do recommend Chevron do is get a viewing area up on the roof of the place so you can wander on up to take in the views all over Surfers Paradise.

This place is secure. You need to take your key with you, no matter where you go in the complex. It's needed in the lift. It's needed to get back into the tower after going to the pools. It's needed to get back in after shopping. It's actually a little frustrating at times how often you need to use the security tag.

The common areas are first rate. There are 2 outdoor and 1 indoor pool.. 3 spas.. a sauna.. a kids play ground.. a games room (which is full of coin operated games).. and about half a dozen bbq's.

It's a pity the room we stayed in wasn't as good. Room 1101 is a self contained 2 bedroom apartment in tower 1, level 10.

While it can sleep 4 people, there's only 1 bathroom. That bathroom has a shower, but no bath. There was also only 1 television.

Then there was the mould. All curtains in the room had mould. It appears there may have been previous attempts to wash them. But that hasn't stopped the mould returning. It's not what you expect at a resort which is rated 4 1/2 stars.

We have just arrived home from 7 nights at the Chevron Renaissance. We were situated in the central Tower (there is 3) in Apartment 3164 which is situated on the 16th floor overlooking the pools and the ocean.

As a family with 2 young children (5.5 and nearly 3) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay due to the following features:
*location was central
* there was 3 pools to choose from . The drawback with the big outdoor pool was that it wasnt heated so it was still too cold for us, however many others braved it (mainly older children). However, the smaller 25m pool was heated and was less crowded. It was IDEAL for young children and babies as half od the pool was only 90cm deep. There is also an indoor heated pool which is very nice, but when the sun is shining who wants to be inside.
* excellent and well maintained BBQ Facilities.
* clean and spacious apartment. Tiled throughout.
* The towers are on top of a shoppingcentre that has a cole, donust King, Bakers Delight, Liquorland and cafes and restaurants.
* close to bus stops and a short walk to the beach

Things to consider and ask if booking the Chevron :
* Bedding arrangements in Second and third bedrooms - we had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom. Whilst teh bunk bed was a hit with our 5 yearold son, the bed didnt have a ladder or a safety rail.
* THis is a BIG complex and has over 700 units. If you are after a quite and peaceful holiday with privacy then choose somewhere else AND away from Surfers.

All in all a great break and we would stay there again.

We have just returned from the Chevron Renaissance and loved our time there. We booked through 'rentmyunit' who were great to deal with. We were on the 9th floor, so were able to enjoy the view, but not too high either! We also had our 2 children and mother-in-law with us but the apartment was well able to accommodate all of us. The location is sensational, and the pool area absolutely superb. The children just loved it. All the facilities were excellent, and we would highly recommend you give this one a try.

We have just returned from Chevron and woule recommend it to everyone! We had 2 rooms one on the 8th floor and the other on the 19th. Both were immaculately presented! We booked directly with the owner who arranged for a guided tour of the property when we arrived. The property is very secure and you need a fob tag to access all of the towers. The outside pool was rather cool so we didn't swim in it but the surroundings were beautiful. There are 2 other pools both heated -one indoor and the other outside. The one outside has a shallow end which was suitable for my 18month old son to swim in.
The apartments were both 2 bedrooms with new furniture and very clean. They both had 2 balconies overlooking the canal. I felt very safe with my son on both balconies as the railngs and glass are very secure.
The location is ideal with Coles downstairs and other speciality shops. It is right next to Caville avenue and walking distance to the beach. My mother in law needed to go the doctor the day we arrived and there is one either downstairs or one around the corner below the Holiday Inn with operates until 11pm.
It is a very luxurious property. It is cheaper if you book through the owner of the apartment, however i have heard that some privately owned apartments may not by up to scratch but ours definitely were immaculate! We booked through Vickey her website is www.holidaysgoldcoast.net.au so you can check it out yourself.
